Everything about that night was emotional.

From his Mom throwing out the first pitch to Trout's homer...and the no hitter. I loved that not only did they all wear 45...they all had his name on their jerseys. That was something.

Today we will see a pair of National League contenders make history, with the Dodgers and Phillies squaring off in the first MLB game to be broadcast live exclusively on YouTube.

The finale of a four-game series at Citizens Bank Park is the first of 13 games that will be live streamed exclusively on YouTube over the remainder of this season. The Blue Jays will host the Indians in the second MLB Game of the Week Live on YouTube on Tuesday, followed by the Tigers squaring off with the Angels on July 29.

An MLB Network production, today's game is scheduled to start at 12:35 p.m. ET, and it can be viewed for free on MLB's official YouTube page. Los Angeles and Philadelphia split the first two games of the series before they weathered a two-hour, 37-minute rain delay in the third inning of a game that saw the Dodgers outlast the Phillies for a 7-2 victory Wednesday night. It will be a quick turnaround for both teams, after Wednesday's game ended at 1:42 a.m. this morning.

In a matchup of 2018 All-Stars, Ross Stripling will start for the Dodgers against the Phillies' Aaron Nola today.

Nationals shortstop Trea Turner hit for the cycle on Tuesday night against the Rockies, becoming the first National to hit for the cycle since, well, himself back on April 25, 2017… against the Rockies.

Turner led off the bottom of the first inning with a home run to center field off of Peter Lambert. He singled in the second, tripled to lead off the fourth, and hit an RBI double as part of an eight-run seventh inning to complete the cycle.

and a lot of ugliness too. Phils refuse to play small ball. Tigers had a lot of runners on in extra innings. I was nervous.

If Boyd is getting traded, that was a good showing. I heard Detroit wants a ton for him. Phils don't have that many top quality prospects left to acquire him or anyone else. Going to be a rough next 6-8 months watching other FA's go elsewhere.

Five-time All-Star shortstop Troy Tulowitzki announced his retirement on Thursday and released the following statement.

“I wanted to take this opportunity to announce my retirement as a Major League Baseball player.

“For as long as I can remember, my dream was to compete at the highest level as a Major League Baseball Player … to wear a big league uniform and play hard for my teammates and the fans. I will forever be grateful for every day that I’ve had to live out my dream. It has been an absolute honor.

“I will always look back with tremendous gratitude for having the privilege of playing as long as I did. There is no way to truly express my gratitude to the fans of Colorado, Toronto and New York. They always made my family and I feel so welcome.

“I want to thank the Yankees organization and Brian Cashman for giving me the opportunity to wear the Yankees uniform and live out another childhood dream. I wish that my health had allowed for a different ending to that chapter.

“To the coaches, training staff and baseball executives who helped me in my career … I am incredibly grateful to all of you. To my teammates throughout the years, thank you for grinding with me. I truly value all the relationships that were built through this game.

“None of this would have been possible without the love and support of my family and friends. To my wife, my son and my parents … you helped make my dreams come true. To my agent Paul Cohen and TWC Sports Management … thank you for taking care of everything. You all allowed me to play the game I love without distractions.

“While this chapter is now over, I look forward to continuing my involvement in the game that I love … instructing and helping young players to achieve their goals and dreams.

“I’m saying goodbye to Major League Baseball, but I will never say goodbye 2 the game I love. Thanks again 2 all of you!”

ESPN’s Jeff Passan reports that the Indians, Reds, and Padres have agreed on a three-team trade. The Indians will receive Yasiel Puig, Franmil Reyes, Logan Allen, Scott Moss, and Victor Nova. The Reds will get Trevor Bauer, and the Padres will get Taylor Trammell.

Bauer, 28, hasn’t lived up to the lofty standards he set when he finished with a 2.21 ERA last year. He currently owns a 3.79 ERA with 185 strikeouts and a major league-high 63 walks in 156 2/3 innings. The right-hander, earning $13 million this season, will enter his fourth and final year of arbitration eligibility going into 2020.

Puig, 28, has had a down year offensively, batting .255/.305/.480 with 22 home runs and 60 RBI in 400 plate appearances entering Tuesday’s action. He’s owed the remainder of his $8.7 million salary before heading into free agency after the season.

Reyes, 24, has burst onto the scene, belting 43 home runs since making his major league debut in mid-May 2018. This year, he’s gone deep 27 times and knocked in 46 runs while batting .253/.312/.535 in 349 trips to the plate. Reyes hasn’t yet reached a year of service time, so he will be under the Indians’ control for quite some time.

Allen, 22, is the Padres’ No. 7 prospect, according to MLB Pipeline. He made his big league debut on June 18. Since then, he has allowed 20 runs (19 earned) on 32 hits and 13 walks with 14 strikeouts in 25 1/3 innings. Prior to 2019, however, his stats in the minors were quite good and there is obviously some potential there.

Trammell, 21, was selected by the Reds in the first round (35th overall) in the 2016 draft. He’s the Reds’ No. 1 prospect and No. 30 across baseball, per MLB Pipeline. With Double-A Chattanooga this year, Trammell has hit .236/.350/.338 with 17 extra-base hits, 33 RBI, 47 runs scored, and 17 stolen bases in 377 PA.

Nova, 19, has spent his season in rookie ball. He’s spent time at third base, center field, left field, and second base while batting .330/.421/.451 in 109 PA.

Moss, 24, is rated No. 12 in the Reds’ system. With Chattanooga this year, he owns a 3.44 ERA with 123 strikeouts and 57 walks in 102 innings of work.

Bauer was fined for throwing the ball over the fence. Funny how you get find for that, but not for a good ol' fashioned beaning, lol.

Braves and Nats solidify their bullpens. Braves get Greene as their new closer. Maldanado moved. A's get Roark.

Smaller moves made today before the 4pm deadline. My Phils didn't add any pitching. Kiss the WC goodbye and the fans as they will head to Eagles training camp since the Phils refused to address their pitching beyond Jason Vargas and Drew Smyly. So happy I'm right about the front offices of the Phils and Flyers !
