Ceci signs a 1 year deal for $4.5M AAV. Kerfoot has signed a 4 year deal for $3.5M AAV. Kerfoot gets the same deal as Finger did more than 10 years ago, 4 yrs/$14M. But Kerfoot is much more better than a Finger.
Perfect third line centre, always like his game, he might even play on the wing until Hyman gets back in the lineup.
I told people in Denver for months that I thought the Avs would trade Barrie. Their D is rounding out nicely (although it would have been better if they could wait until the deadline to give them a bit more time to develop), and Colorado had s crying need for secondary scoring. Barrie for Kadri is just a good old fashioned hockey trade. Both teams dealt from strength for positions of needs. Why I hate the trade from Denver's perspective is losing Kerfoot. He's better than what casual fans around the league realize. Granted, I do not know much about the other guy coming west, but Toronto got the best player in the trade (meaning they won the trade) in Barrie, and the "throw in" is good. I hate that I stated a week or so ago that if the Leafs were to get someone like Barrie that they'd be o.k.
Calle Rosen is a soft D with some hockey smarts on the offensive side of the game. I see him being a 6-7 D-man. The only way the leafs get Kerfoot is because Barrie is on an expiring contract. If Barrie had 3 years left, this would've been a straight up one for one deal. There really was no urgency for the Avs to deal him now, they really must've liked Kadri. I think the leafs cut ties with Kadri after the suspension. He could really thrive as a #2 C, and the Avs score with the term and AAV. The leafs will be in trouble at D next season and might have to unload Nylander for a D, and maybe bring in another UFA.
Marner has talked to several teams about a possible offer sheet, reports Aaron Portzline of The Athletic. The list includes Columbus. Marner has made the rounds with several teams -- who wouldn't when given the chance? But he seems to remain committed to the Leafs who would probably match any offer anyway. The Leafs seem to be digging in, looking for a longer term, and Marner's camp is using Auston Matthews massive five-year deal as a benchmark. This could go on for a while.
I'd love to see a team offer $13M, the leafs use the first round picks to rebuild the blueline and add size up front. Bye bye bitch, oh I meant mitch, so long to daddy too!
They said that it wouldn't drag on, I'm sure they'll give him over $10M. There's a lot of better players getting less than he wants. Without JT, he's a 20 goal scorer with 75 points (8.5M).
Blues acquire Borgman from Maple Leafs for Schmaltz Associated Press Jul 25, 2019, 4:11 PM EDT ST. LOUIS (AP) — The St. Louis Blues have acquired Andreas Borgman from the Toronto Maple Leafs for Jordan Schmaltz. The teams announced the swap of young defensemen Thursday. Borgman figures to play for the Blues’ American Hockey League affiliate in San Antonio. Borgman, 24, had 11 points in 48 games with the Maple Leafs in 2017-18. He spent last season with the AHL’s Toronto Marlies. Schmaltz, 25, has five assists in 42 NHL games with St. Louis. After playing 20 games with the Blues last season, he gives salary cap-strapped Toronto some cheap right-handed-shooting depth on the blue line.
Really quiet this month and honestly I'm really enjoying the time off. Besides pictures of Auston Matthews playing with his dog, we have word that Marner will be training with a team in Switzerland. The Aho deal really puts things in perspective for the boy, trade him if you have to, cause frankly my dear, I don't give a duck.
