Finland has been pumping out so many high picks on D.

    Sens needed that one.

So far the best value pick has been Podkolzin. The Wings could've easily traded down and picked Moritz in the teens while pocketing another second round pick.

Tampa drafts the other Foote, now they have a pair of Footes.

Brett Hull should make the St. Louis Blues' pick. He might be halfway sober by now if he stopped drinking after the parade.

Wait. They traded it to Buffalo right?

The Sabres pick a son of a blue.

Fans in Detroit up in arms because of the pick for Moritz Seider at #6 over-all. Funny how fans know more than Steve Yzerman. Just because they havnt heard of him, they don't like it. Yzerman said; 'wait till you see him in camp and watch him move and skate'. I trust Stevie.

I wouldn't question Stevie Y with his ability to evaluate talent. There's nothing wrong with being high on a player and taking him sooner than most experts thought.
I think some were just scratching their heads wondering why he then just didn't trade his spot to maybe 10 or 11 in the process getting an additional 2nd round pick while still being able to draft Seider.

I'm reading that they tried to trade down but couldn't find any team willing to do the deal, makes sense now.

Not mad about the Bruins taking John Beecher. Not going to pretend I know the player well but I like the idea of taking a big USNTDP kid that had to play behind Hughes, Zegras, and Turcotte. Obviously this makes it difficult for the 3rd/4th line C to get quality minutes, doesn’t mean he isn’t a quality player. Kinda crazy but I expect Beecher to have more of an opportunity at Michigan as a freshman than he had the last couple years playing on that loaded national team.

Avs had the best day outside of the devils and ragers getting the top two. Bowen Byram definitely bolsters the d core as one of the tops in the league with Barrie and Maker. Also Newhook was a top scorer in BC, win all around for the Avs. Maybe the people there could start dusting off those old Sakic and Forseberg jerseys

  18. There you go Nucks, he sure slipped.
    Congrats Larry

Thanks Skinny..........we won't see him for 2 years as he is signed with Russian League.

But he is a very good player and was touted to go # 3 and slipped because he signed in Russia.

Bit of a gamble by Jim Benning.......I'm hoping he will make trades today (Edler) and get a good D Man.

If USA hockey continues at this pace they'll own the drafts in a few years
