It was 1970, the habs won the cup in '71.

I doubt any Blues goalie won the Conn as they were swept four straight. Glenn Hall came out of retirement that year and only played in 18 games.

 

well Glenn Hall won it for St. Louis in 1968.

I still remember that time the oilers traded him to the leafs in a 10 player deal which also brought over Fuhr and Anderson. The leafs then traded him four months later in another blockbuster where the leafs ended up with Gilmour and McCowan.

 

wow - 10 players. i don't recall that one. Man, the Oilers unloaded all their old-time favorites at some point.

 

The Oilers acquired Berube from the Flyers.
They unloaded and still won the cup in 1990.

Berube, Fuhr and Anderson to the Leafs for four players, Damphouse, Richardson, Peter Ing and Scott Thornton.

 

Berube was then part of a 10 player deal with Calgary.

 

not true! they still had Messier, Lowe and Kurri. Billy Ranford won the Conn Smythe. Gretzky left in 88. Coffey left in 88 or 89. It wasn't a true team dump !

He wants either TB or VGK from what I hear. With both of those teams cap situation (especially Vegas) it's hard to see how that would work. I think he'll get 7 Years at $10MM+. Nagging injury history be damned; he's still good.

I think he may go to the Rangers. Also, a sign-and-trade might happen since SJ is the only team that can offer 8 years.

 

flyers have over $30 mil in cap space, but even i don't like an 8 yr deal. they need a veteran leader on defense, but i gotta pass on him.

 

Oh, I think Fletcher will more than just kick the tires on Karlsson. Actually Philly probably checks off his boxes too, and it would give them trade options. The most he's getting if he leaves SJ is 7 years. (A sign & trade could give him the 8th year and might lower the AAV by a bit.)

 

they have other holes to fill first. if this was 2 or 3 years ago, sure. he's not getting any younger.
