Phils-Cubs for a 4 game series at Wrigley. Sorry BWW, we're enemies this week !

 

phils bullpen gives the Cubs the lead, but the Phils climb back to tie it in the 9th and win it in the 10th. nice. and no offense, but what were the umps looking at in the 9th inning on the play at 2b. the cubs own pitcher walked back to the mound bc he thought Segura was safe. i saw his hand beat the tag on my 55 inch tv. the Phils announcers replayed it 3x and he was safe. somehow under review the Umps called him out ? Not even too close to call but out ?? wtf ?

my chicago buddies were silent all game until they took the lead back. typical front running fans! when JT hit his HR, i texted all of them "SWEET JUSTICE!" haha

 

Phils bullpen sucks. Kapler runs them out their too much and their closer or Morgan can't even throw an inning. Nicastro couldn't get me out.

did you guys see this ? top 8th overall draft pick doesn't sign and now signs a $7 million dollar deal in Japan ? Wow! That's a lot of money ! Kid is set for life now if he doesn't pan out.

 

The MLB draft is a clusterfuck, and we’ve talked before about the financial boning players take in the minors. If Stewart does well over there you could see a lot of guys start following this model.

 

i don't think the draft itself is a clusterfuck, just the minor league accomodations, pay and travel is. the draft seems pretty straightforward with a ton of rounds to be taken. haha.

you're right however if Japan is willing to pay this much, it could pose a problem for MLB teams.

 

Nah the draft is still a cluster. The bonus allotment system is a joke (eg overdrafting college seniors in rounds 4-10 to lowball their bonuses so you can overspend on a tough sign earlier in the draft), the eligibility rules are stupid, and the lack of an international draft is absurd when every other sport can manage to do it (and would eliminate the rampant corruption in the signing of foreign players). And that’s all before you get into players like Stewart, Brady Aiken, etc, where the teams try to screw them over on their bonuses based on medicals that teams uncover after the fact (which should be established before the draft just like the other leagues do it). The draft is supposed to facilitate the even distribution of talent. Even with the higher difficulty of projecting baseball players, their draft still doesn’t come close to that model.

If Stewart succeeds in NPB and comes back here in 6 years and gets a 9 figure deal at age 25 with a lot more money than he’d’ve made between his bonus and ml salary already in his pocket, amateur players will be lining up for the chance to bypass the draft and minor league systems like he’s doing.

 

damn u dog, i never thought of the draft like that, but you're 100000000000000000% right. when the Phils foolishly took Mickey Moniak #1 overall, so they could save slot money for 2nd and 3rd players no one ever heard of pissed me off. Moniak was not the best overall player in the draft, but due to this slot money nonsense, he went #1 overall. i hated the pick then and still hate it now and those 2nd and 3rd picks the Phils took with the extra money aren't doing squat. and the 1 college kid try to hold the phils hostage for more money and threatened to go back to college unless they paid him more money than other 3rd rounders. fuck him ! greedy fucker. he wasn't even that good and isn't doing shit now in their system !

 

damn HR ball killed the phils 3-0 lead and they got hammered! last game today at Wrigley. gotta salvage the series.

ok the pushups were a little much, but throwing at him? then the coach gets that mad ? then the infielder who also gets tossed and points at 2 umps and the player involved?

guys, come on now. it was 3 little pushups in a minor league game. all a little much to get that pissed off, right ??
