Using the previous rds isn’t good either. What if Rocky went against higher quality movies in a rd? Then Titans would have obtained more votes just because it was against inferior competition. I call it a fix.
Did you forget that in Round 1 Rocky was lumped in with Rocky II and Creed? How do we know Rocky got all 9 round 1 votes on it's own? How about we divvy up those 9 votes to 3 votes each for the three movies lumped together. From round 2 on . . . All the movies that advanced were seeded within the brackets. Virtually every bracket's result from round 2 on would fit within a statistical "normal curve". Therefore, any movie that advanced to the next round faced similar competition within their own respective bracket. You can call it a fix if you want. But then, every year you predict the Steelers will go 16-0, too.
Looks like it's a tie. How much longer is the voting open on this round? Do I dare say that @Lyman may have to have a run-off between these two?
How many times have we seen a boxer, ahead on all the judges cards, start taunting his opponent only to get his ass knocked out in the final round? How many times have we seen a team start celebrating on the sideline only to watch their opponent score the winning TD on the last play of the game? How many times have we seen a baseball team, down by 3 in the bottom of the 9th inning with 2 outs drill a walk off grand slam? It ain't over 'til its over.
Since it was my original comment that set the wheels in motion on this, I hereby vacate all voting results and re-declare Hoosiers the winner.
but who would vote creed or rocky 2 got any votes over rocky ? that's a lot to assume. all i know is rocky wants his rematch with titans !
I knew that the posters on this site were wise and cultured. Remember the Titans is absolutely a better movie than Rocky, and the best sports movie of all time. Well done, all.
to be honest, im surprised a few other classic sports movies did not get more votes like Hoosiers or the Natural.
What most of you don't know is that I spent the vast majority of my professional career working with statistics. What most of you may suspect is that I spent a considerable amount of time tracking this whole exercise through all four rounds. This is what I determined: I posted a notice about this exercise in the same five forums at the beginning of each round. As a result, we averaged 21 members who actually voted in rounds 1 through 3. It's a reasonable assumption that, if the same demographic population is alerted, the same number of members will participate. The Final Round generated 27 votes (actually 25 - more on this follows). In rounds 1 through 3, the results of virtually every bracket (there were 16 of them) would fit inside of a statistical normal curve. The only two that didn't both occured in the 1st round before the movies were seeded within a bracket based on the prior round's result. The results of the Final Round, not only didn't fit within a statistical normal curve, it bordered on being a statistical impossibility. Based on those findings, the only logical conclusion I could come to was that there was some form of skulduggery in play intended to manipulate the final result. I confess. I fought fire with fire and "manufactured" the final two votes for Remember the Titans in order to create the tie. I only needed a tie because I knew what the tie-breaker would be (my exercise - my rules). The surprising thing to me was how easy it was to recruit members to go along with me. So . . . There you have it. Those of you who still want to claim Rocky the winner - go for it. Just put an asterisk next to it.
Titans has the * as you cheated and manufactured 2 extra wins they didn't earn or deserve. hahahahhaha
and i still think rd 1 bracket 2, had too many top movies that should've been spread across other brackets. some lesser brackets had lame movies winning that bracket bc a top movie wasn't in that bracket to challenge it.
