you really think NHL players don't look down ? or the few that do are the ones to get hit ? don't respond. there's no need to respond now. we've all said their 2 cents on this and im cashing out and heading back to the other threads. we will never agree. you guys better pray Eichel or Marchand never puts their head down and gets demolished with a hit because as you two put it - it's their fault !

 

Yeah. And real hockey players hit too. Why punish one and not the other?

 

Get a penalty for putting your head down ? Wow. I don't have an answer.

 

Then don't answer. But remember, they guy with his head down is just as responsible for a concussion - if not more so - than the guy that made a hit.

Never confuse a proper legal system with the NHL judge-jury-and-executioner system. If it were then the suspensions we've seen handed down would never happen either. It's not a legal matter to hit a guy playing hockey.

It is a matter of reducing concussions. You seem to be in denial over the fact that players with their heads down contribute to the problem. It is my contention that it is actually a bigger part of the problem.

I want concussions to be a non-factor. I also do not want hitting to be taken from the game.

 

Watched this on Canadian TV last night. (Can-hockey broadcasts are a good reason to consider moving here. Fuckit, I'm moving to Portugal instead.) Anyway, the commentators were good and convinced me he would get the call. I think he'll get a game to watch from the press box.

Ivan Barbashev will have a hearing with the NHL Department of Player Safety on Friday.

The St. Louis Blues forward is facing discipline for an illegal check to the head against Boston Bruins forward Marcus Johansson during the first period of Game 5 of the Stanley Cup Final at TD Garden on Thursday.

The incident occurred 5:24 into the period. No penalty was called. Johansson remained in the game.

The Blues won 2-1 to take a 3-2 lead in the best-of-7 series. Game 6 is at Enterprise Center on Sunday (8 p.m.; NBC, CBC, SN, TVAS).

The following grounds are being considered for supplemental discipline: illegal check to the head. However, the Department of Player Safety retains the right to make adjustments to the infraction upon review. - NHL.com

pretty sure every player thats had a hearing in the playoffs has gotten a suspension this year.
