I am surprised that The Longest Yard wasn’t one of the four

Not sure about the "older people" part, I'm 50...I guess I need to see that movie again. It wouldn't have made my personal top 20 list. I remember it. Good story. I just don't remember it in the same light that others seem to, that's for sure...

Its definitely not the best sports movie ever.

I do like it a lot. But others are better.

If you're 50, that means you were born around 1969. The film's story was set in Virginia in 1971 - so you were around 2 years old when the events in this movie were happening. I just happened to be living in South Carolina in 1971 and witnessed first hand virtually every form of segregation that was depicted in the movie. While the screen writers took some liberties with the actual events of the Titans' season, they captured the racial tone of the era fairly well.

Looks like I better come up with either a plan for a tie breaker or sudden death overtime. :wall:

That is beyond criminal. Another reason CBS can go fuck themselves. What incompetence.

You are exactly right: all of the Mighty Ducks movies.

I’m with TopDawg and Bww - I like Remember the Titans a lot. But i’m probably hard-pressed to put it in my top 10 of greatest sports movies ever.

I'll be honest . . . I am a bit surprised at how the voting is going. Not so much by who the leaders are (they're both in my personal top 5), but by how far back 3rd place (and the rest of the field, for that matter) is. As of right now, we are just about up the average number of individual voters based on prior rounds, so these last four days of this exercise may or not be anticlimactic.

THANK YOU BWW. Guys, I'm 47, so im not taking a shot at anyone's age ! I just don't think a lot of people 45 and older heard of this movie. i didn't until it was on VHS and im a movie guy. My college buddy was like "you never saw Remember the Titans?" that's what i mean. The Natural, Caddyshack, Rocky, Slap Shot, Hoosiers and Major League were all bigger and more popular movies. Not necessarily better, but more popular with sports fans. So again, im surprised Titans is getting so many votes.

My favorite movie only got 2 votes. So I hope all but 1 of you die.

"Remember the Titans" was released in 2000! Denzel Washington was just hitting his prime then. Why wouldn't sports fans over 45 years old want to see it?

"Three Amigos" was a bigger and more popular movie than most that were nominated for this exercise and it flat out sucked donkey balls! The object of this entire exercise wasn't to mirror box office receipts numbers . . . it was to determine which movie the members of this site thought was the best sports movie.

yeah 2000. how many other bad sports movies came out then ? to me the old classics stand out and are on reruns all the time. Caddyshack, Slapshot, and the Natural is constantly showing on cable tv. Hell even TBS has the Rocky marathon on twice a year. When is Titans on ?

You guys don't see what I'm getting at, so lets move on. Again, I love the movie. I just don't think a lot of sports fans on here or at home have seen it to call it the best sports movie ever over the classics of Rocky, Slapshot and Caddyshack.

You keep confusing popular movies with good movies.

We must be watching at different times - or different cable channels. I NEVER see Slapshot on. I've seen Remember the Titans more on cable than I've seen Caddyshack, The Natural...

Titans seems to on all the time.

Slapshot and the Natural don't get played much and when they do it seems to be on the MLB and NHL networks or another channel with commercials so you don't even want to watch.

I couldn't care less for these finals. Too many popular movies that just aren't that good IMHO. Caddyshack for instance was amusing but I wouldn't call it great.
