hey feral cats are still cats to me. there's a lot of sick people out there, who hate cats and love to harm them, so this is like christmas to those sick fucks.

They invented a type of sausage that would only kill the cats. They die within 15 minutes. They drop them off in areas where there's a high concentration of the feral cats.

The Australian government wants to kill two million feral cats by next year — and it wants
to do it by airdropping poisonous sausages. There are currently an estimated 2 to 6 million free-roaming cats across the country, and officials say they are threatening native wildlife populations.

According to the Australian government, the goal is to "reduce the impact of feral predators and increase the resilience of our native species," because cats "damage the productivity of Australia's farming sector." The government wants to kill two million wild cats by 2020, which it says are a major contributor to the extinction of at least 27 mammals since their introduction to the country by Europeans, possibly in the 1700s.

Part of the plan to cull the rising cat population is to bait the cats with lethal sausages made of kangaroo meat, chicken fat, herbs, spices and a poison called 1080, which is deadly to animals, according to the New York Times. The sausages are dropped from airplanes into areas with high stray cat populations. The cats allegedly die within 15 minutes of consuming the sausage.

"They've got to taste good," Shane Morse told the NYT. "They are the cat's last meal." PETA Australia calls the poisonous sausages "horrifically cruel"

Along with baiting, the government is also trapping and shooting cats, in some cases. "The scientific evidence is unequivocal that feral cats are one of the greatest threats to Australia's land-based mammals," the government said in its "Threatened Species Strategy" plan.

Some parts of Australia are taking the issue a step further, offering rewards for slain cats. The state of Queensland is offering $10 AUS ($7 USD) per feral cat scalp. PETA and other organizations condemned the policies when they were announced, but Australian officials have supported them.

The plan initially received intense backlash when it was first announced in 2015. But now, even PETA Australia "in principle recognized that feral cats hunted wildlife to a point at which species can no longer survive," according to the NYT.

fuck the other species. first you wanna poison them and then $10 for every scalp ? that seems a bit much. why not dead carcass? scalps? what is this Dances with Wolves ?

    still pretty shitty !

Supposedly there were some exotic looking parrots that are no more. I think they had a rabbit problem years ago. My aunt has lived in Adelaide since 1953 and my family have been there.

Australia has all their big cities along the coast with nothing but miles of wildlife in the middle. A lot of room for the feral cat population to start getting out of hand.

I know It's a shitty topic so I'll drop it.

i hear ya. i understand. 6 million feral cats is a lot of damn cats. 6 million of anything is a lot. my thing is - ok so you kill 4 million cats. you still have 2 million feral cats roaming around and impregnating other cats, so in 2 years, you may have 6 million again ! then what ?

bird the exotic birds in a bird sanctuary or rain forest exhibit, so the cats can't get to them. this shouldn't be that hard to figure out !

it's not a shitty topic. i wouldn't wanna see 4 million dogs killed either or pigs, goats or anything else. i have a soft spot when it comes to animals.

  11. skinny123 Guest

It's two million cats they want to eliminate. I just thought it was a shitty topic for you because you have two pet cats.

  12. Catfish Guest

oh i thought it was 4 million. haha. still a lot of cats. feral cats and cat and dog over populations is a serious topic all over the world. hell, there was 20 feral cats in a parking lot near some woods someone kept feeding and put out boxes for shelter and old blankets to lay in etc. was hard to see them alone all the time. philly has rough winters. just makes me sad.

I went for lunch today at this schnitzel house, Izba. The owner had this strange accent, he said it was a mix of Polish, German and Hungarian. He was from the Austro-Hungarian empire of pre-world war 1.
It felt like I stepped into a time warp, the lady named Olga had the traditional hat with the clothes. The place had a cottage feel to it, real cool.

Then when I went to pay, she ended up having the most Canadian sounding accent, geez, talk about a buzzkill.

    Good Schnitzel though.

how old is this guy? wow. what hat are you referring too ?

    never had schnitzel.

He was in his 70s, he was raised with parents that were brought up in that culture. It's like a tri-state area, (poland, austria, hungary).

The hat and clothes are like Oktoberfest costumes.
The Schnitzel came with cabbage, potatoes and carrots.
I'm sure it's not too hard to find one in PA, delicious food.
