Absolutly agree. Horse racing does NOT need crap like this right now. Now they have the animal rights crowd coming after them because of all those horses dying at Santa Anita. Never mind that it was just an incredible string of bad racing luck. Horses die on the track or in training all the time. They already ended dog racing in Florida. Now their coming for the holy grail.
HBO had a mini-series starring Dustin Hoffman about degenerate gamblers and horses. Due to several horse deaths due to filming races for the series, HBO cancelled the show after one season! Animal rights activists basically shut down the entire show, so yes, what happened at Santa Anita is a huge deal ! 15 yrs ago HBO did an undercover show on greyhound racing and the moment a 3yr old greyhound starts to lose, their owners didn't want them anymore and send them off to be killed. piles and piles of dead 3 yr old dogs. it was heartbreaking to watch. im an animal lover and an old softie when it comes to animal cruelty. the feds busted the entire complex and saved dogs that were in the kill list. they arrest the dog owners, the dog killers and went after dog racing in general, so good for the state of Florida!
The loss of dog racing wasn't a big thing. The State didn't make that much money in taxes. So no great loss. Horses on the other hand.... Their leg bones aren't much bigger that your thigh bone and are carrying over 1000 pounds at speeds over 35 MPH. (what could go wrong) They have the IQ of a 2 Y/O human child. (not that bright) And one of the worst digestive systems of any animal, barnyard or otherwise. There are plenty of things that can go wrong with catostrofic results. (it can get ugly at times)
i didn't know you knew that much about horses SoCal ? do you own horses or are you a Vet or a trainer/breeder ? to me any cruelty to animals i.e. whipping is wrong. and racing a poor greyhound dog for money is wrong too. to kill it after he stops winning vs adoption is flat out wrong to me.
I grew up around cattle. Learned to ride early on. Both my wife and daughter train and show quarter horses.
Now wait just a minute. Animals die. For the most part, animals live longer and are healthier when humans are involved. Horses in the wild ? Live 5-7 years. THAT'S IT !!!!! Domesticated ?? 12-15+ years !!! Not trying to beat you up...…….. Just saying.
I don't remember where I heard that number. The BLM ?? Somewhere else ?? But I tend to believe it. I know there are wild horses all over the country, but here in the west ?? Look at where they live !!! In the desert !!! Not a forgiving place to be. Plants are few and far between. Water ?? They know where it is but they can't go very far from it. It's the environment that's getting them. Not so much preditors. I'm sure that most of the babys don't make it thru the first year. Like I said. The desert is a very unforgiving place.
Now their going to court ??? "Maximum Security’s owners on Tuesday filed a lawsuit against the Kentucky Horse Racing Commission over the result of the Kentucky Derby, which left the horse disqualified." Any legal minds out there?? Does a judge have any jurisdiction over something like this ?? Can the Saints got to court over that non-call in the NFCCG ??? Hope not. Sports as we know it would be doomed if someone can tie up the results of a contest in court. We'd never get a season done.
bc that foul is never called. it's a ticky tack ruling that cost the owner millions of dollars. hell yeah sue ! and SoCal speaking of suing, im suing you for winning BF's contest all the time. i think you have inside information/cheating. haha. you better lawyer up !
