The Colts got the steal of day 2 of the draft with Campbell. I would have thought he'd be great asset for the Vikings also.
Vikings sign sixth-rounder Armon Watts... The Vikings got eight draft picks under contract on Thursday and they added another one on Friday afternoon. The team announced that sixth-round defensive tackle Armon Watts agreed to his four-year rookie deal. That leaves three draft picks unsigned from their 12-player class. Watts played sparingly at Arkansas before taking on a bigger role in his final season with the Razorbacks. He led the team with seven sacks and three forced fumbles and also recorded 49 tackles and 8.5 tackles for loss last year. Watts was the only defensive lineman that Minnesota drafted last week. He’ll compete with the likes of Shamar Stephen, Linval Joseph, Jalyn Holmes and Jaleel Johnson for snaps on the interior of the line.
With Linval Joseph,Shamar Stephen,Jalyn Holmes,Jaleel Johnson that's a tough line up your young can only get better whata got?
The Minnesota Vikings have elected to sign a few more players that stood out in their rookie mini-camp this last weekend. According to Chris Tomasson of the St. Paul Pioneer Press, the Vikings are signing former LSU cornerback Terrence Alexander and former UAB defensive end Stacy Keely following tryouts this weekend. Additionally, the team is signing defensive back Isaiah Wharton out of Rutgers. Alexander spent just one year at LSU after joining the program as a graduate transfer after four years at Stanford. He recorded 23 tackles with three passes defended in eight games for the Tigers. Keely appeared in 20 games for UAB over the last two seasons, recording 40 tackles, 5.5 sacks and two forced fumbles. The report also states a desire by the Vikings to eventually sign punter Shane Tripucka as well.
Dwayne Haskins wishes that Diggs played for the Redskins, that's not happening if he wants a Diggs type of reciver how come they didn't draft Hollywood Brown,he already got Terry McLauin ( sp )his Ohio State teamate don't get greedy lol
Jay Ajay in purple? starting to look like the Tay Train is going to be a lot tougher to replace than i thought, there saying that Alexander Mattison is a reach i don't think so if there going to run a zone biocking scheme i think he will be ok
Oh l read it on VIKINGS WIRE..Could Jay Ajayi be a fit with the Vikings ? is this guy injury prone?,the one thing that got me he is a Boise State former football star! just like Alexander Mattison a Boise State former football star!!
Ya, I don't know about Jay. Maybe the Vikings should not use up a roster space for him... tough call.
Vikings Listed Among NFL’s ‘Most Underrated’ for 2019... If Vikings Head Coach Mike Zimmer had his way, there would be no hype or fanfare surrounding his team heading into each season. Zimmer prefers that people doubt his team so they can keep applying a blue-collar mentality before delivering punishing play. That was the case in 2017 when the Vikings went 13-3 and reached the NFC title game. But with plenty of preseason expectations in 2018, Minnesota disappointed with an 8-7-1 mark and missed the playoffs. With the regular season still four months away, Brent Sobleski of Bleacher Report recently wrote that he expects Zimmer’s squad to get back to their old ways and listed them as one of the NFL’s most underrated teams in 2019. Sobleski wrote that more equality on offense under first-year Vikings Offensive Coordinator Kevin Stefanski should help Minnesota reach the postseason. A more balanced attack can be expected and not necessarily from a run-pass perspective, though the Vikings did attempt the sixth-most passes last season. How Stefanski uses the available talent is far more important. Last year, [Stefon] Diggs and Adam Thielen shouldered too much of the workload with a combined 302 total targets. The coach’s roots are based in the West Coast offense, which is where [Kirk] Cousins thrives, especially in the play-action game. Diggs and Thielen will run more timing and intermediate routes. The team’s tight ends, including second-round rookie Irv Smith, Jr., should be an even bigger part of the scheme. Overall, Stefanski’s fingerprints should be all over the system after he had to adapt on the fly. Plus, the Vikings fortified the offensive line by signing Josh Kline and drafting three blockers, including first-round center Garrett Bradbury. Zimmer will still have his hands in the defense, a unit that has ranked in the top 10 in points allowed per game in each of the past four seasons. The unit features All-Pros and Pro Bowlers at every level, including the likes of Danielle Hunter, Everson Griffen, Linval Joseph, Anthony Barr, Xavier Rhodes and Harrison Smith. Sobleski said the Vikings will be just fine at stopping opponents. On the other side of the ball, the Vikings remain a top-five defense. Defensive tackle Sheldon Richardson departed in free agency, but Minnesota made a great move by retaining linebacker Anthony Barr. Buffalo, Carolina, Houston, Pittsburgh and Washington were also listed as Sobleski’s most underrated teams for 2019. Cronin: Vikings hope Mattison can complement Cook Vikings rookie running back Alexander Mattison racked up 1,415 rushing yards as a junior in 2018 as he became the first Boise State player to lead the conference in a season. Mattison’s big year included 687 rushing yards and seven touchdowns in the final four games of the season, a stretch that ended with back-to-back 200-yard games. The running back likely won’t be counted upon to be the featured back for the Vikings in 2019, but ESPN Vikings reporter Courtney Cronin wrote the team hopes he can complement Dalvin Cook. And in doing so, Cronin wrote, Mattison would also fill the role left by Latavius Murray, who signed with the Saints in free agency. _________ _____________________ Cronin wrote: Mattison, a 5-foot-11, 221-pound bulldozer, not only resembles Murray in stature (he forced the third-most missed tackles of any back in the draft-eligible FBS in 2018, per Pro Football Focus) but in the way his downhill rushing style fits combined with Cook. “We watched all the tape on him, and it seems like the more carries he gets, the more work he gets, the more he gets lathered up,” General Manager Rick Spielman said. “To have that type of one-two punch along with the current backs we also have, we’re going to have a pretty good stable of running backs.” Murray generated 4.1 yards per carry on 8.8 rushing attempts per game in 2018 for the Vikings. His best production was the byproduct of increased opportunities. Each of his six rushing touchdowns came when he notched double-digit carries. Mattison left Boise State early after averaging 4.7 yards per rush during his junior season and 30 carries a game during his final five games in 2018. While there’s little doubt that Cook will be the focal point of Minnesota’s run game, Mattison’s workhorse tendencies were traits the Vikings sought. Minnesota drafted Mattison in the third round of the 2019 NFL Draft. _________ ________________ Interesting and true, in my opinion, read from; Vikings.com...
I hope Mattison stays healthy and plays well cause at times Murray was MIA,Jay Ajayi like you said tough call but i hope the Vikings pass
It's looking like Kyle Rudolph will remain with the Vikings he's a nice red zone target i hope Irv smith is a blocking TE and runs real sweet routes
Vikings, Kyle Rudolph cut off extension talks... The Vikings said that drafting tight end Irv Smith Jr. in the second round of last month’s draft was not a sign that they were pushing Kyle Rudolph off the roster, but a parting of the ways may be in the cards. Rudolph is in the final year of his contract and he had been talking to the Vikings about an extension that would extend that stay. An extension would likely lessen Rudolph’s $7.625 million cap hit for the 2019 season as well, but Ian Rapoport of NFL Media reports that talks about a new deal broke off on Friday. The need to clear cap space was related to reports that the Vikings were fielding calls about trading Rudolph and other veteran members of the team, but General Manager Rick Spielman downplayed the seriousness of those discussions. Friday’s development will likely lead to another round of calls to Spielman from teams interested in Rudolph and it could lead to a different answer from the Vikings. (PFT)
Now i don't know what to think i thought he might be a Vikings it's looking like he's gonna get traded just a matter of time it seems
Tight end Kyle Rudolph‘s name was linked to trade discussions around the draft and the prospect of his departure from the Vikings cropped up again last week. There was a report that contract extension talks between Rudolph and the team have broken down, which led some to speculate about a trade away from Minnesota as it would allow the Vikings to create some cap space at a moment when they have less than $1 million in room. Irv Smith Jr.‘s arrival as a second-round pick lent some support to the idea that the Vikings could part ways with Rudolph. On Monday, Rudolph said that a move away from Minnesota is not what he or his family wants and reiterated his belief that the Vikings can play both tight ends effectively. He also acknowledged that the team is going to have to make some decisions in order to clear up the financial side of things. “We’re in a tough situation as a team,” Rudolph said, via Andrew Krammer of the Minneapolis Star Tribune. “Can’t keep everybody, can’t pay everybody. Those guys, I know, are working really hard to figure out something.” The Vikings start OTAs next week and Rudolph said he’d like clarity about his roster status as soon as possible. (PFT)
Mike Zimmer on Kyle Rudolph: “Sometimes business gets in the way”... Vikings tight end Kyle Rudolph may soon get the clarity he wants. But he may not like how it’s all clarified. Coach Mike Zimmer addressed Rudolph’s tenuous status on Monday, with a message that didn’t start in ominous fashion but ended up there. “I’ve had conversations with Kyle and quite honestly I really love all my players,” Zimmer said, via Chris Tomasson of the St. Paul Pioneer Press. “We expect Kyle to be here but sometimes business gets in the way.” The business as to Rudolph comes in the form of a $7.275 million base salary. In contrast, second-round rookie tight end Irv Smith will earn $5.798 million — over full four years. From the day after the Vikings drafted Smith, rumors have circulated that Rudolph is available in trade. The Vikings may have no choice but to release Rudolph.
Well business it seems will get in the way here i was listening to the purple podcast this guy named andy and he was talking about Mike Boone being a wide receiver, because if Treadwell refuses to step up his game makes me question his heart and commitment to pro-football
Its Official... The Vikings have their 2019 first-round pick under contract. The team announced that center Garrett Bradbury has agreed to a four-year deal with a team option for a fifth season. He’s the 11th of the team’s 12 picks to agree to a deal. Seventh-round long snapper Austin Cutting is the only one without a contract and his availability is complicated by his Air Force service commitment. There had been word that Bradbury’s deal would have to wait for the Vikings to free up some salary cap space. There’s no word on what, if anything, the team might have done to free up that money ahead of Tuesday’s announcement. Bradbury started his final 39 games at North Carolina State and looks like a good bet to continue his starting streak come the fall.
Good got him signed cause Capt. Kirk got roughed up last season, having a stud center is so important to the health of the the qb and having an awesome running game Go Vikings
