I legitimately thought it was following my mouse for a good 10-15 seconds, and I thought you were a wizard.

So we have the "Scottish Hammer" coming in to challenge our punter, who's name is Britton...There's something kinda cool about that.

    Crazy Crextin’s Mad Musings...:notes:

Hey fellow Lounge Houndz. Been lurking in the shadows keeping an eye on things just have been too busy to put my thoughts down.

    Post draft thoughts…

    Pick 17 WR Odell Beckham
I would say that around 90% of the Browns nation is elated with this move. Me, not so much. While, it is great to have one of the NFL’s premier WR on the roster, was the cost worth it? Giving up two draft picks this year, and two pro-bowl caliber players for an overpriced diva WR, and injury prone DE seems a bit high to me. We’ll see if Colbert is ready to step up and how well OBJ and the rest of the offense/team click.

I don’t see how they can carry OBJ, Landry, and the 2017- 2018 rookie classes past 2020-2021 without suffering major cap casualties throughout the roster.

    Pick 46 CB Greedy Williams
A combination of length, fluidity, speed and ball skills, Williams was touted as one of the top 2-3 CB in this draft. Williams has the potential to be a “lock down” corner opposite Ward. Solid pick IMHO, I have concerns as to his pay to play motivation and effort. How much does he love this game?

My guess is that he fell due to his inconsistencies in effort and technique. Lack of willingness to stick his nose in the stuff and lay a hit on people, could be his Achilles heel. (Sure hope he doesn’t make me think about NO tackl’em peon Dion when we watch him play) As long as he’s taken passes back the other way; his lack of tackling effort may be a mute point.

    Pick 80 LB Sione Takitaki
The more I review this guy the more I see a backup to Avery. Same tweener like ability to either play DE or OLB, only not as talented. Plays with a nasty aggressiveness that leads to lapses in technique taking bad pursuit angles, and missing tackles.

I see a guy that will likely thrive on ST, and if he cleans up his technique continues to play nasty, he could prove to be a valuable addition to the roster.

    Pick 119 S Sheldrick Redwine
Corner that converted to safety. Likely better suited at SS than FS. Better in man coverage vs zone. Physical competitor who shows good effort in all phases of the game. Sets a tone with his physical play and is very eager to get into box work and mix it up in the trenches. Most likely will find space on ST and as a nickel corner/safety.

    Pick 155 LB Mack Wilson
As far as LBs for this draft go there were the Devins’ then everyone else. Personally after watching film and comparing to other LBs not named Devin I felt like Wilson was more of a third round talent. Has all the qualities of a 3-down LB at the NFL level. Potentially great value here; as long as he lives up to the predraft hype. Rumor has it that he did poorly in team interviews; questions about his character and attitude arose; add in his pedestrian 40-time; these are all likely contributors to his slide from a projected 2nd rounder all the way into the 5th.

If he lives up to the projected potential it is possible the Browns have their ILB for the future.

    Pick 170 K Austin Seibert
I think we all agreed that the kicking position had to be addressed this year. So here we go Brownies… By all accounts he is extremely accurate under 40-yds, and has the leg to go 50+. Can function as an emergency punter.
    • Made just 4 of 9 field goal tries from between 40-49 over the last three years.
    • Rarely attempted kicks of 50-plus yards, making just 1 of 3 for his career.
    • Fails to stand out as either kicker or punter.
    Just get him close Baker.

    Round 6 • Pick 189 • G Drew Forbes
A three year starter at LT at the FCS level, projected as an interior OL at the next level. His play earned him second-team Associated Press FCS All-American and first-team all-conference notice after his senior year. After reading this quote…

“No sir, this homegrown Missouri talent prefers to just brawl. Head down, lunch pail in hand, no frills ... the kind of lineman the old-school linemen love and respect.”

…I could see this becoming my favorite dark horse pick of this draft.

    Round 7 • Pick 221 • CB Donnie Lewis
Four-year starter with an appetite for challenging throws and making plays on the football. His stat sheet looks impressive. His speed/or lack thereof could determine if he makes it on to an NFL roster.

    In Summary:
All-in-all I’m not super excited about this draft class, but then I’m also not questioning any of the picks that were made. This really is the first year in a long time that the Browns weren’t looking for day one starters in this draft and were adding depth and improving talent where they could. For the most part it appears that Dorsey was looking for guys that play with a nasty streak (Greedy excluded). Given that I felt like LB and S were the weakest positions on the roster going into the draft (i.e. no depth) and they were addressed; I feel like Dorsey and the Browns had a solid draft overall.

Provided the Browns avoid any serious injuries to the O-line or D-line all this post season hype may prove true. Color me skeptically optimistic at this point, but the last time I remember this much hype about the Browns this early in the year things didn’t turn out so great by the end of the season.o_O

    Update:

Included on that Depth Chart is Tigie Sankoh. He was assigned to the Browns as part of the International Player Development Program and, as such, does not count against the 90 player off season roster limit. But, even with the release of Kyle Friend and the signing of "Buster" Hyman, we're still one player over the 90 man limit.

So, its apparent that at least one of the UDFA's listed won't actually be signed. (Maybe more.) I'll keep my eye on the transactions page of the Browns' website and update accordingly.

Well, he must've given it his all, to get that nickname.

  11. Lyman "Franchise Asshole" Browns Buckeyes

In all fairness . . . I kinda came up with that nickname.

True story . . . I worked as a Night Auditor (glorified desk clerk) at a Holiday Inn when I was between semesters in college. One night, I checked a guy in who registered as "Buster Hymen". In between giggles, I asked for his driver's license to confirm his name and - sure enough - that was his real name!

And I've been waiting 50+ years to lay that nickname on somebody.

lol! I used the name BUSTER HYMAN for a fantasy football team name, for a few years back in the 90's...

Well . . . they just Waived G, David Bright so, that takes us down to 90. Maybe they will sign all the players reported to be UDFA's afterall.

When I was trying to sort through all the UDFA information I kept coming across of conflicting reports of players invited for a workout and players signed.

The good thing is that we aren't dependent on these guys to make the team (anymore). There wont be mass outrage when the gritty WR that just seems to make plays against 4th teamers doesn't make the squad.

That's a good place to be in.

For what it's worth . . . The Browns' own web site has not yet listed any UDFA's as signed. I've pretty much decided to wait until an UDFA signing shows up on their transactions page before I jump to a conclusion based on "reported" signings. (Yes, the depth chart I previously posted contains UDFA's based on "reports".)
