Yeah, we fly the red eye Logan to Dublin tonight. I'm actually in Detroit at the moment. ETA BOS is 3:56, and our departure is 9:37 pm.

Thanks. One of the reasons we're retiring to Portugal is that it's such a royal pain to get from Denver to Ireland. Five hours in an airport blows.

I'm going to look in to this, really it'll be dependent on the date. Typically non-conference games are over Christmas break (close to impossible for me) or early on in the season.

Pretty good game so far for two teams I couldn't care less about.

 

Carolina should be a good example to most teams on the importance of having a sold D core with two good goalies. They have Aho and Tuevo up front and it's been sufficient.
I would rather have another two or three solid Ds than Nylander, Kapanen and Johsson.
When the offensive players don't score goals or produce points they become meaningless.
A good D man can produce every game in the defensive department by shutting down oposing rushes. They can play a big factor in every single game where offensive players can't, especially the younger ones that haven't developed any two way game.

 

CBC was showing highlights of the Canes defensive scheme during periods and they were lining up 3 across the Blue line with 2 back and just clogging the passing lanes and getting sticks on pucks. The Islanders had no answer.

In my opinion, they are going to have to do some more dump-n-chase instead of trying the passing and rushing into the offensive zone. They better figure this out ASAP also.

 

When a coach utilizes his teams strengths to the max, this is what I would call a really good coach. Great job by Brind'Amour.

The beef with babs was giving up a 21 year old generational players minutes to duds like Gauthier and Brown. A good coach recognizes the teams strengths and runs with it. More Matthews-Marner-JT line combos double shifting, Man, don't even want to go there, so many are so disappointed in Babs.

 

Babcock is notorious for mixing up lines so much it really messes with the players. He did that in Detroit a lot and there were comments made by ex-players of his that said he isn't the easiest to play for.

 

The highly skilled players like Datsyuk couldn't stand his guts, he's arrogant, has an ego and is overrated as a coach.
