Looking forward to 2019, Browns NFL Rookie Draft

Honestly, I've been loosely following it. I have been extraordinarily busy at work, which is why I dropped from the GMO. I simply don't have much time right now to follow. You all know, I love talking Browns, but it won't be to the detriment of family or work.

As for your draft, being honest, I like a couple of other safeties better in Juan Thornhill and Amani Hooker.. I LOVED the trade up to get Mack Wilson, the rest is all based on projection more than expectation and everyone is going to have a difference of opinion on how to build that part of the roster.

Mock drafts by us amateurs are based on conjecture, so there is no right or wrong. If we had all the information the franchises have, we could get into pissing matches...we don't, so it really is silly imho to be getting angry over them.

Honestly taking a step back with all of my actual work, it's put my Browns anxiety into perspective. I still read a lot about them, I watch everything I can get my hands on. I talk about them to anyone that will listen. I am still excited for the draft, even without a first rounder...but I'm not sure I am as obsessive as I was even a few months ago because I am preoccupied with work.

THAT is why I haven't been responding as much, not because I pick and choose who is worthy on these boards...hell, in the pecking order I am CERTAIN that I am below you TD..Not very many on here like what I write, or at least how I write it.

I have him muted because I don't suffer fools gladly.

There were two guys available at 2.17 that I was willing to take over Mack Wilson. It was Abram, my favorite Safety in this draft, and Thornhill...

No worries. I figured that. Thanks for the feedback.

    No.

I like your writings. Always have. You got more talent than me in that department......We don't have to agree on everything.

This really fell apart after the fourth...

Honestly, there are a LOT of safeties in this draft that I would be happy about getting. Obviously the Dors has so much more info to make an educated decision...but if we don't get one in the second round, I would like to see them draft Will Harris out of Boston College around the 4th round. Good head on his shoulders and I think he could be a nice contributor, even if he isn't a stud/super star in the making for years to come. He's the type of player they need to draft every year to replace guys coming off their rookie contract as backups.

Thanks. I appreciate it.... I'm keeping my eye on that CB i got in the 6th too, Jordan Brown. I really think he could be a starting caliber CB in this league. Might be a great compliment opposite Ward.

My main focus was SS, LB, OL...After I traded Duke, I had to add RB. Love where I got Henderson though. Thought about waiting till late and snagging Mike Weber, but the upside on DH was too great. I see an ideal replacement for Duke, at a much better cost.

I was really jacked about getting Abram and Mack. That started the draft off great IMO. I think Abram is a first round talent. Old school, in the box, thumper. I just love watching his highlight reel. lol!

Mack was the plan though, so I had to spend a future 3rd to make that happen. Very glad I was able to.

    RE: Gardner Minshew

I do think it's important to draft QBs based on a name-to-occupation relationship.

Reset the draft 10 times before I could get Wilson. Glad I did... I may not do another one and just submit this as my final:

    upload_2019-4-16_17-2-59.png

2-49: Mack Wilson, LB - no brainer. Biggest area of need and the last of the Top 3 guys before a *HUGE* fall-off at the position. Browns should be prepared to move up to get him if need be.

3-80: Deionte Thompson, S - what?! Thompson is the 40th-best rated prospect, per TDN (host of this draft). A rangy, over-the-top safety who can learn behind Randall, spell either spot, serve as an extra DB in Cover 3 and someone who projects as a Pro Bowl caliber player.

4-119: Kahale Warring, TE - expect a TE. Dorsey has already added Demetrius Harris but I won't be surprised if he adds to the position. Njoku has yet to turn it on and isn't a Dorsey guy. Regardless, a fourth round pick likely isn't going to challenge Njoku Day 1 but could take over if another team views Njoku as a prize in a trade or he doesn't flip the switch this season.

5-144 (f/Jacksonville): Dontavius Russell - no pass rush. Russell is an early-down interior lineman who isn't going to give much in the pass rush, but should hold up very well against the run - a huge area of concern. Looking for more packages in third-down and passing downs whereas Russell can contribute on early downs.

5-155: Ka'Dar Hollman, CB - a 30-count visit. Hollman wasn't invited to the Combine but reportedly had an impressive Shine Game and Pro Day at Toledo and is one of the 30 visits the Browns scheduled. Clocked a 4.36 40-yard and a 38" vertical - goes 6'0" and 190 pounds.

5-170 (f/New England): Oli Udoh, OT - O'duh! Udoh is a raw, small school prospect with imposing size (6'6" and 327 pounds) with very long arms. Mold-able prospect like Desmond Harrison who could be groomed for a future role at either spot.

6-189: Bunchy Stallings, IOL - where's the center? Stallings is a potential guard at the next level. From what I've read: "Nice mobility and feel for the position." Good enough for me and a sixth round choice.

7-221 (f/Jacksonville): Bryce Love, RB - why not? Lot of mileage on a small back without an impressive athletic profile, but a guy who can get the job done if the last four years of college are any indication. Worst case, this is an extra body around from a round that doesn't produce much.

I thought about that as well, but I guess I'm just not expecting either of them to slip down into a range where we would make a move...We'll see. I'd be excited if we could land either Devin, that's for sure.

  18. TopDawg Legend

No doubt about that...Just a couple guesses.

Juan Thornhill could also be a possibility. I know we had him in for a visit.
