    The Saints have

    @ the Rams
    @ Chicago

Those are the 2 games that scare me. If we can go 6-0 or 5-1 in the division and split those 2 games ? We're good. If we beat the Rams ? We're golden.

    Frank Clark trade talk continues...

We noted last weekend that there’s been talk around the NFL of the Seahawks trading defensive end Frank Clark. That talk seems to be getting louder as the draft approaches.

Multiple reports in recent days have said a Clark trade is possible. Ian Rapoport of NFL Network reported that the Bills and Jets are interested in acquiring Clark. Adam Schefter of ESPN reported that the Seahawks will demand “at least a first0round pick.”

Getting a first-round pick would be a tall order. Clark is probably looking for something in the neighborhood of the five-year, $90 million contract defensive end Trey Flowers got from the Lions. A team giving up a first-round pick and paying Clark that kind of money would have to absolutely love him as a player.

Seahawks G.M. John Schneider has spoken recently about how he likes making draft trades. The Seahawks have just four picks in this year’s draft, and the right package of picks might be enough to make them part ways with Clark. (PFT)

Eagles Willing To Trade Nelson Agholor?
April 24th, 2019 at 12:18pm CST by Zach Links
Teams believe that Eagles wide receiver Nelson Agholor could be available via trade, according to Ian Rapoport of NFL.com (on Twitter). Agholor, a versatile weapon, carries a $9.4MM fully guaranteed price tag and could be moved if the Eagles draft a receiver early in this week’s draft. [IMG]

This is a change in thinking from where the Eagles were just six weeks ago. Even after the Eagles acquired DeSean Jackson and gave him a lucrative three-year extension, the belief was that Agholor would remain with the club. Now, the Eagles seem to be a bit more future-minded at the WR position and they could use this opportunity to get younger while cutting down on costs.

The former USC pass-catcher has been a key component of the past two Eagle passing attacks. Even with the midseason arrival of Golden Tate, Agholor still managed a career-high 64 receptions for 736 yards and four touchdowns.

i can't see the Eagles taking a WR with their first 2 picks. They have so many needs elsewhere, so why go WR? I'd be shocked to see him traded with his cap hit too.

Agholor's cap hit is prohibitive. Nobody wants to pay a mediocre WR $10 mil.

well elsewhere he could be more than mediocre and a nice 1 or 2 wr for a team in need. in philly, he's always been second or third fiddle at wr. again a team would need to be desperate to take on his cap hit.

  12. dlinebass5 M.V.P. Bears

He's always behind other receivers in the pecking order because that's his talent level. It's not the environment, or the offense, or any other variable - he's not that talented. Not $10 mil talented.

  13. Catfish Guest

not that talented? he was a top 20 first rd draft pick ? he would look good on a few teams !

  14. dlinebass5 M.V.P. Bears

He was drafted years ago. Oddly enough, draft position doesn't equate to talent. I'm not saying he's a bad player, but he's a mediocre WR on a bad contract. Definitely not attractive trade bait.

Just like most of the off-season trades we've seen this year the trade would / could be consummated by giving the trading team and Agholor's agent the opportunity to negotiate an extension before it became official.

Sebastian Janikowski retires from the NFL...

Kicker Sebastian Janikowski‘s long run in the NFL has come to an end.

Janikowski is retiring from the NFL 19 years after he was drafted in the first round by the Raiders. He spent the next 18 seasons with the team and closed out his career with the Seahawks in 2018.

“It was a good run. I still think of the Super Bowl — it still hurts,” Janikowski said, via Adam Schefter of ESPN.

Janikowski makes reference to Super Bowl XXXVII, which the Raiders lost 48-21 to the Buccaneers in San Diego after the 2002 season. It was one of nine career playoff games for Janikowski, including last year’s Seattle loss to Dallas which saw Janikowski leave early due to a thigh injury.

Janikowski was 436-of-542 on field goals and 605-of-614 on extra points over the course of his career. The 436 made field goals tie Janikowski with Jason Elam for ninth in NFL history and will go along with his status as the last kicker drafted in the first round, his booming leg and bulky physique as reasons why he’ll be long remembered by those who saw him play.

NFL estimates 600,000 attended the draft...

The NFL’s TV ratings possibly were down by two percent for the first night of the draft in Nashville possible because all those extra people were actually at the draft in Nashville.

Via the Tennessean, the NFL initially estimated that 500,000 fans attended the event from Thursday through Saturday, before adjusting the estimate to 600,000.

With no turnstiles or other means for getting an official head count, the math can get fuzzy — and the numbers can conveniently get inflated, since the bigger the event seems, the better the deal the NFL can get from the cities that will be hosting it in the future.

Indeed, the Nashville Convention and Visitors Corp estimated crowds of 200,000 for Thursday and 200,000 for Friday, per the Tennessean. The third day, as usual, ended up being more sparse (as the photo accompanying this article suggests). Then again, the third day seems to last forever, so maybe 200,000 were there at different stages of a very long afternoon/early evening.

Whatever the official number, and whether it was or wasn’t influenced by the introduction of “alternative facts,” the draft is a big deal. Even though the ultimate reality show’s ultimate reality show is ultimately a show about nothing, since in light of today’s technology the whole thing could be done via group text message. (PFT)
