Now I officially HATE the Saints draft. He was supposed to last to the UDFAs. The Falcons have scouted him pretty heavily, interviewing him at his pro day and then having a private workout with him on campus later. What you left out is that he put up a 43" vertical at his pro day along with a 4.46 in the 40.
Great draft Dan. I love the approach. Hockenson very well might be a top 5 player in this draft when all is said and done. I picked Polite and Boyd as some of my 3rd and 6th round favourites, so I agree on the value you may have gotten there. I like Alex Bars too. And Duke for a 4th is a steal, if you're going to plan to use him and stick to it.
Well, the BIG question is the QB. No one really questions the Bills selection from last year any more, (BTW, my mock in 2018 was Allen). His dedication to getting better was abundantly clear from his draft through the end of the season. But, he had an awful lot that needed to be worked on, and he's far from a finished product. Will he continue to improve? That's the question on which the next ten-year history of the Bills hinges on. He is a very good fit for Buffalo in terms of his personality. He is a hard worker, and he did show a lot. With all the improvements on the OL (you never know for sure until they play, but the OL looks much better), and additional weapons he should be better. And yeah, I traded for Duke to use him.
I don't know enough about the Rams defense to get a feel for whether Edwards, Brown or Deshaun Davis will fit in. But I like the Mack and Nate Davis picks. I don't know if I would have pulled the trigger and made the offer you did to get Nate Davis. I do know that kind of move was needed if he was your target though - he wasn't going to last much longer. Tim has Daley way down the list on the war room board, but I like that you went ahead and grabbed him where you did (and not just because you left Mecole Hardman for me with the next pick). He's a year away, but that kid has a heck of a lot of upside and his flaws are all technique-related items that can be coached.
I know. But I was still surprised you passed up Worthington and some others to take him. And I really do think Bell should have stayed in school unless it's a case of hardship. When you only rack up second team all conference honors in the Mountain West that should be a big freaking clue. You're not going to hear your name called before day three, and you're not going to be a lock to make a roster and start collecting that salary. He would have been much better off getting that extra year of experience and coaching.
I prefer Bell as a depth guy. I don't expect him to fight for much time but he has the potential to grow into something. I saw that more than any other DB left on the board.
I appreciate that. Like you said, role-playing "your" GM is important. And the Rams are truly aggressive in the draft (all the trades for CB's last year, that note I made about every draft pick in 2018 being acquired). So I didn't hesitate to go get "my" guy in Davis' case. And Daley isn't a sure thing. But I do like him. He's a bit nasty, and I think he fits the Rams mold. They actually interviewed Davis. I don't think they have Daley. And in the nastier by the year NFC West, I believe Deshaun Davis will fit in just fine. Whether he progresses enough to ever touch the field on passing downs is the real question. But that's why I grabbed Edwards earlier. He might have been a small reach, but it's a big need for the Rams.
Also on this note, this is a team who took Brian Allen in the 4th last year (widely graded 6th-FA) and Joseph Noteboom in the 3rd (widely rated around the 5th). So again, role-playing my GM, they aren't afraid to go after "their OL's". Hell, I think you know our GM fairly well Didn't he help add some questionable OL talent to your squad in the top 100 not that long ago??
@Will up but he is going through some issues right now so he will be skipped Vikings X2. @Tim asked to be skipped and he'll make all 3 of his picks tomorrow morning before UDFA opens but he just told me so we'll give him until 8pm to make his picks. Rams OTC at 8PM and @Underdog will be up as soon as he picks.
Sweet. I was about to put a proxy together because I have to get up around 3 and spend the day traveling back and forth to Atlanta and wasn’t waiting up til 10:30, now I don’t have to.
Go ahead @Underdog. I’ll pick for Rams after you as I haven’t thought about it yet. Raiders cannot though
Why? I had 6(30) figured out since about the 4th. I’ve been focused on Colts late though. This pick is almost a UDFA
With their last pick in the 2019 draft the Los Angeles Rams select Sutton Smith / "PRS" / Northern Illinois Huskies
Yeah, he is a freak...I love this prospect. Kinda mad I didn't take him for the Browns. lol! Sorta covered that with this though; Denmark’s ability to jump out of the house and have incredible explosiveness for his size is exactly what makes him such an intriguing prospect. He should not be able to move as fluidly as he does, but his click and close are as good as anyone’s in the draft and he uses his athleticism all on his tape
