I think I'd go the opposite direction. Once you hit the sixth round, it's okay to throw value out the window and take a flyer on whatever if you see upside potential or system fit or need.

Well system fit should always be included in the decision, obviously. It's an interesting debate. I'm including upside potential though when I say "value". Upside is upside. But sometimes in say round 1/2 or 1-3 you might want those safer BPA picks. Not BPA based on "upside". Because some guys never hit their ceiling. So again, interesting debate. And when you get into the semantics of it all, you start to see why no two GM's draft exactly alike.

The semantics do make it complicated, for sure.

  5. Campbell Administrator Manager Commissioner

I’m on the road. I’ll take Donald Parham if he’s available.

  6. Torgo M.V.P. Manager Falcons

Stetson TE Donald Parham is very much available. He's all yours...

    He's yours.

I will officially make the start of round 7 the moment when I stop autoing and we jump missed picks and let them arrive late. Hoo-ah!

I see what you did there.

Along the lines of value and system fit:

    Falcons select
    Drue Tranquill, LB, Notre Dame

An undersized LB in Atlanta. Imagine that...

    Falcons draft:

Goals: firm up the d-line, add depth on defense, and get a head start preparing for potential roster turnover in 2020.

    1. Christian Wilkins, DT, Clemson
    3. D'Andre Walker, EDGE, Georgia
    3. Sean Bunting, CB, Central Michigan
    4. Germaine Pratt, LB, NC State
    4. Mecole Hardman, WR, Georgia (also PR/KR)
    5. Chase Hansen, LB, Utah (SS / LB hybrid)
    5. Jordan Brailford, EDGE, Oklahoma State
    5. Ryan Finley, QB, NC State
    6. Corey Ballentine, CB, Washburn
    6. Drue Tranquill, LB, Notre Dame
    2020 3rd rounder (Eagles)
    2020 3rd rounder (Browns)
    2020 4th rounder (Rams)

Traded 2(13) repeatedly, landing the three future picks plus the picks used for Sean Bunting and Mecole Hardman.

Originally intended to take a second DT, but the real team signed a free agent during this mock.

Chase Hansen fits our system as a LB, but I selected him with the idea that he can provide depth at SS.

Looks very solid Torgo. Added value next year is a nice touch.

Wilkins/Walker is a great start on building up the DL. Love Finley and Ballentine late.

I'm out for a bit. I've PM'd NE, and I will PM TB, who picks after NE and Joe x2.

I don't pick again until 7(7) and have groceries to buy, errands to run. I'll look in from my phone.

  18. Underdog Franchise Player Patriots

Bah I would’ve liked Ballantine to fall here. Guess I’ll copy my GMO pick...

    WR Anthony Ratliff-Williams, UNC

  19. Underdog Franchise Player Patriots

Pats still offering two 7’s for an earlier 7

I'll pick in a bit for my teams. I am taking care of some things for my dad.
