I am high on Dre'Mont Jones. I have a first round grade on him and he was by far my BPA on a position of "need". Maybe overall.

    Edit: clarify which Jones.

You were right to trade up for him, I just didnt expect you to jump that many spots. Granted the price was low risk

For me he's a bit of a one-trick pony at the moment. That said, that one trick he's pretty good at, and plays an important role in todays league...hitting gaps like a bat out of hell. I like him in an attacking 4-3 better than anywhere else. You can make him stronger over time. I had him somewhere in that 30-50 range.

Lol... I hate Jones to the Giants in the first round. In fact I personally don’t like his tape at all and wouldn’t consider him until R4 or so. What kills me is no one ever says Jones is a really good QB when they talk about him. They talk about him and Eli knowing each other and his coach and trainer both having connections to the Mannings. It’s like I am supposed to believe because he knows Eli that makes him a perfect transition plan. At this point And to Washington I love him. Can’t wait for those defensive lineman I picked to get to know him!

At least you know he's not just picking on you TD. His Jones breakdown was pretty enjoyable too.

I'm clearly a bit more enthusiastic about D.J. than he is. I think Jones fits Gruden's system pretty well. A pocket style QB with some mobility who will generally make good decisions. He needs a little adjustment in his technique. But hey, it's the second round. We aren't tied to him if it doesn't work out. And there have been many conversations around here that circle back to one great truth. If you don't have that QB, you better keep trying to find him.

It worked out very well for both sides, I think. It was a classic "too hot, too cold, just right" negotiation. The original offer was close but didn't quite work for me, my counter was close but didn't quite work for him. Third time was the charm.

Never heard from Stopper. Was just about to post my pick when I got the message from Joe.

With the Eagles likely getting a 3rd and 4th comp pick next year I felt it was worth the move.

No, I just think he despises any player the media hypes for Big Blue. lol!

Yeah, it's a shi**y feeling when you doubt every decision your GM makes. And meanwhile you're trying to cheer on your favorite team while feeling like their declining with every transaction. But you wouldn't know anything about that, would you TD? :D

It's all a distant memory RT. Fading with every passing minute...

We are on deck and ready btw.

For the record I wanted the Giants to go hard after Dorsey... I think the Browns made the right move in getting him on board as quickly as they did. Though I think if he was comparing the two rosters the Browns were the better one to take and mold at that point.

I don’t hate everyone the media pumps for the Giants I just really have watched too many guys who were athletes without production come and go over the years — that’s my issue with Gary. For Jones I see a passer who struggles to do more then the easy stuff. His offense is simple and he still only excels with the simple quick WCO reads within that system. I think what he does really well is much more limited than some of the other guys in this class. To me there isn’t much difference between Jones and a guy who wears a different blue jersey in the potential to be an NFL starter category. One guy is being talked up at 17 and the other at 108...

Well I'm forced to speculate here. But it's safe to say we see Daniel Jones quite differently. And I'm not trying to say he's a clear franchise passer. In last years group he probably doesn't sniff the first round. That said, there's enough I see in him to believe that with the right coach/GM behind him he can become a good NFL starter. You won't want Arizona's 2018 OL in front of him. Or the Redskins 2018 WR/TE group for him to throw to. Or the Raiders 2018 RB group working behind him. But if he can sit for a year, and has weapons behind him, I think he's capable of leading a team. I like how quickly he'll make the decision to let it rip to his second read when option one is covered. I like that in the face of pressure he doesn't get "shook", an issue I hate with so many prospects. I like his mobility and his deep field accuracy, when he has the time to plant his feet. There's a lot I do like about him. And for what it's worth, in this particular exercise I had a trade set up at 3 with the Jets to go get Kyler. But Tampa changed my plans when they hopped up to #1.

All that said, I'm not betting my life on him starting 5+ years in the NFL. He's one of those prospects whose chances to succeed might fluctuate wildly based on what team he ends up with.

Yeah it’s not like he has no tools to work with. And honestly if / when the Giants take him I will get on board because what choice do I have. I just don’t want any half way commitments anymore. Either find your guy or don’t bother. To me taking a pass rusher at 6 and jones at 17 is a settling rather than being confident this is our guy. As much as I would hate it I would feel better about them taking Jones at 6 than I would 17 or 37. Taking him that high indicates they really believe in him and not that they just know they need somebody.

I think the RL odds of this guy still being on the board here are very slim, but the Browns are really happy he's here. Hardest hitter in the draft and ideal replacement for Peppers.

    Cleveland Browns select;
