Because..... Florida....... PALM BEACH COUNTY, FL (Gray News) - A 35-year-old Florida man lost his life Saturday while trying to retrieve a pigeon he cared for from a power line. Deputies from the Palm Beach County Sheriff's Office found Elian Garcia-Rivera around 3 p.m. They told The Palm Beach Post he used a 20-foot aluminum pool pole to try and move his bird, but accidentally touched the live power line. The shock threw him to the ground between a large pigeon coop and a fence. Paramedics transported him to a local hospital where he passed away. "There are no words to say," according to a man who identified himself as Garcia-Rivera's brother Julian, but wouldn't give his full name. "We never knew something like this could happen." Garcia-Rivera is survived by two young daughters. Julian told local media he has another brother who lives in Cuba.
I’d presume he didn’t mean “we never knew touching high tension lines with a metal pole could kill you” so much as “we never knew Elian was that fucking stupid.”
Florida sucks. Also... this is some Silence of the Lambs sh*t right here. Hope they look this dude away for any number of reasons listed in the report.

Ridgefield baseball field closed due to 'poor decision' to douse it in gas, set it on fire RIDGEFIELD, Conn. (WTNH) - It was a Saturday morning when families were gathered at the baseball field at Ridgefield High School. When the fire started burning, someone left the field and ran across the street to the police department. "It had rained the night before there was a scheduled baseball game," explained Captain Shawn Platt. Someone thought it would be a good idea to dry the field in time for Ridgefield and Amity Regional to play ball. Video was shot by a teacher showing the moment after 24 gallons of gasoline were poured on the infield and set on fire. But whose idea was it? "We're not sure. It's an active investigation of who instructed, if anybody instructed," Capt. Platt said. Authorities were notified immediately, and the Connecticut Department of Energy and Environmental Protection's hazmat group was called. Gasoline-soaked soil had to be tested and removed. It's a process that will cost the town thousands of dollars. Police haven't said whether anyone will be facing charges. They do hope to wrap up their investigation this week. Neighbors are wondering why it happened in the first place. "By now, everybody knows you don't pour gasoline on the soil. You think everybody knows," Phil from Ridgefield said. Even those who can understand the pressure of getting the field ready in time still have concerns. "I get it to a certain degree, but at the end of the day, the decision was not well thought out," Evan Schreiber of New York said. Officials said the field will be closed for the remainder of the week as they do soil testing.
Man accused of stealing from Kmart days after buying $8 million private island Andrew Lippi, 59, was accused of stealing about $300 worth of household goods. By Karma Allen Apr 9, 2019 1:48 AM A Florida man was arrested on Saturday for shoplifting at a Kmart, just days after he purchased a multi-million-dollar private island off Key West. Andrew Lippi, 59, was accused of stealing about $300 worth of household goods from a Kmart in Key West, where police said he purchased various items between March 30 and April 4, replaced them with cheaper items and returned them for a refund. Lippi made headlines last week when he purchased Thompson Island, a private estate formerly owned by the philanthropist and developer Edward B. Knight, for $8 million, according to ABC Miami affiliate WPLG. Lippi also owns a 12-bedroom resort compound in Key West that MTV used to film a season of "The Real World" in 2006. That property rents for about $1,800 a night on Airbnb, WPLG reported. Lippi stands accused of stealing multiple items, including LED light bulbs and a $55 Hamilton Beach coffee maker, which he allegedly "replaced with a much older coffee maker" and returned for a full refund, according to the Key West Police Department. Police said Lippi also bought a $150 Keurig coffee machine on March 30, returned it and received a full refund a day later. Kmart employees notified the store's loss prevention officer after realizing the coffee machine box instead contained a basketball, according to police. (MORE: Alleged Mar-a-Lago intruder had cash, technical equipment in hotel room: Prosecutors) Lippi denied denied stealing the items, according to a police report. "Lippi stated he did not change out any items prior to returning them," the arresting officer wrote in the report. "I asked Lippi about the Keurig coffee machine being replaced by a basketball, and he stated the clerk should have realized there was no coffee machine by the weight of the box. "I asked Lippi about the light bulbs, and he stated he returned the light bulbs because he paid too much money for them and did not know how they were switched." (MORE: Tennessee man accused of killing mom who was 'driving him crazy' asked co-workers for help with alibi: Police) ABC News could not reach Lippi for comment late Monday night, but he told the Miami Herald that the situation "has to do with a commercial dispute." "It's very complicated and I’d rather not get into it," Lippi told the Herald in a phone interview. "I will say this, that the way it was handled by Key West police and the Monroe County Sheriff’s Department was wonderful. Some of the finest people I’ve ever dealt with who were kind throughout the whole process." Lippi was arrested on grand theft charges and released the following day. Jail records show he posted no bond for his release. He's scheduled to appear in court for an arraignment on April 18. ABC News' Ben Stein contributed to this report.
Just like the Walmart merchandise, he replaced it with a cheaper island and returned the cheaper one.
I don't know, but he also owned a mansion used in a Real World TV show on MTV and it is a huge, awesome, mansion. I'm wondering if he isn't losing his marbles...

New NC Bill Would Require Hybrid Owners To Pay Extra Fees To Offset Gas They Don’t Use NC State Legislators have just introduced a new bill that would require hybrid and electric vehicle owners to pay an extra annual fee to offset the gas taxes they aren’t paying since their vehicles don’t use as much gas as non-hybrid vehicles. According to the new Senate Bill 446, electric owners would be required to pay almost 2 times what they already pay in annual registration fees (currently $130 per year). By the year 2022, it would rise to $275, higher than any other state in the nation (there are currently 19 other states that require additional fees for hybrid and electric owners). Hybrid vehicle owners would also be required to pay an extra annual fee for the first time, which would start at $87.50 in 2020 and rise to $137.50 by 2022. The NC State Transportation Committee approved the bill on Wednesday and it’s now being sent to the finance committee, if passed, it will move onto the floor for a vote.
