Just an FYI since 2000 the winning Super Bowl QB has was drafted in the top 5 picks 4 times
The loosing QB was drafted in the top 5 seven times.

The Manning brothers make up all 4 of the winning QBs and Peyton is also 2 of the loosing qbs. (The others being Jared Goff, Matt Ryan, Cam Newton, Donavan Mcnabb, and Kerry Collins)

if not for the obvious outlier in Brady skewing everything I wonder what it would look like.

It wouldn't change Jeanquev's post, but the percentages would change for sure.

I think the relevant information is this...You have to have a REALLY BAD roster to be picking in the top 5...It isn't always easy/feasible to build that complete roster into a Super Bowl caliber roster, no matter who the QB is.

There are many ways to build a winning team...I do believe the easiest way to build that team is by having a premier QB. Whether he comes from the top 5 picks or the 6th round, if you find that guy, it makes the GMs job a helluva lot easier.

What we should be looking at is 7 of the top 5 QBs drafted since 2000 MADE IT TO A FREAKING SUPER BOWL. That's pretty high odds I would think. How many QBs have been drafted in that same time period?

The odds will be skewed because you have other QBs in the first round, second round, 4th round, 6th round that have also been to a Super Bowl...but you aren't breaking it down to just 5 picks, you are using 251 picks to make up the other side of the equation.

It would also be skewed by the fact there are QBs on the list that were drafted high and went to the SB but not with the team that drafted them. And QBs drafted lower that appeared in SBs on teams other than the one that drafted them.

Trent Dilfer was drafted #5 overall by the 49ers....appeared in the SB with the Ravens.

Kerry Collins drafted #6 overall by the Panthers....appeared in the SB with the Giants.

    Kurt Warner was undrafted.

Brad Johnson was drafted by the Vikings...won a SB with the Bucs.

Gannon appeared in a SB with the Raiders...drafted by the Patriots and traded to the Vikings before playing a snap.

Jake Delhomme was undrafted, went to a SB with the Panthers.

Matt Hasselbeck was drafted the Packers but went to the SB with the Seahawks.

Drew Brees was drafted by the Chargers but went to the SB with the Saints.

Foles was drafted by the team that he went to the SB with, the Eagles, but spent time with two other teams in between his Eagle stints. And wasn't the starter when the season started.

All of that skews things. And it makes it impossible to nail it down and say this one way is how you have to acquire your QB if you wanna play in the SB. Fact is.....the way QBs and teams have gotten there has drastically varied.

I mean if he didn't dominate so much there would have been other guys there and I wonder how the stats would look then. It's something you'll never really know.

I did miss dilfer going 6th but otherwise where a guy was drafted was counted regardless of who did the original drafting.

True but you can go with the easy of if the opposing qb won instead of brady and the pats.

You can also remove the pats and take the other team fromthe afc championship game and put them in. No its not perfect as another team may have been able to step up but it does give you a talking point at least.

for some insane reason, i thought Dilfer went #1 overall, not 6th. Damn.

I know you counted all of them. My post wasn't to discredit yours but to add to it.

I was watching YouTube and a video came up for the worst referee calls of all time. The first clip was from the final replacement ref game of the Seahawks vs Packers.

To have a little fun, I took my tablet over to my fiance who knows absolutely nothing about football. I told her to watch the video without sound on and ignore what she was seeing pop up in graphics on the screen and tell me what the result of the play should be. I then briefly explained that the team in blue was on offense, the team in yellow was on defense, and the blue QB was going to get the ball, run around a bit, and then throw it down the field.

After seeing the clip live and 2 views of the replay she said "So the yellow guy caught it and intercepted the ball and the blue guy was trying to steal it away from him after."

I then explained about the "tie goes to the offense" and she said "That was no tie. He just had his arm stuck in there."

Yup, she knows more football than the referee.

Thats a bit extreme isn't it? Change lifelong allegiances because a team from a different sport gives you a bankload of money? You telling me every player in the Phillies organization has to like the Eagles? Or any other sports town?
