For some reason, the BOG likes this less travel Divisional thing. All I can guess is somehow a lot of money is behind the decision to not change it for now.

Ovi talking about breaking Gretzky's unbreakable goal record. At 33, he has a strong shot at breaking it.

 

#8 needs 236 goals........it could happen.......BUT he needs 50 / year for the next 5 years....that's a tough one.....he would be 38.

 

Ovi is NOT going to get 50 per for 5 more years (IMO). However, I could see him playing for as much as 8 or 9 more seasons, and he might if he felt the record was in sight. I find no reason to doubt that he could do what Jagr did - if he's willing to be a mercenary and switch teams a few times.

 

i think he has 7 or 8 yrs left in him and i think he will hang on to get the record if he's that close. too hard to walk away that close and not get it. and considering the record it is - most goals ever ! hard to pass up.

 

VV- he doesn't need 50 for 5 yrs. that's the nice average the article said. he could go up and down above 40 or 50- goals across 7 or 8 years.

 

I doubt he does it, but he really has a chance to make it interesting. I think he also needs to lay off the rough stuff and focus on just goal production. One thing about Ovi, he doesn't shy away from hitting or playing tough, but if he really wants to chase the record, he might need to change his style a bit.
