I too was not happy about the cutting of Orchard and Nassib last year...

When they were cut though, it opened the door for Chris Smith to "beat out" Emmanuel Ogbah and he couldn't do it. So, I have a hard time believing, when compared head to head, he would be the option to hold down the backup spot in place of Ogbah. Chad Thomas hasn't been healthy enough to make an impression yet.

So, now we are in the situation of having no first round pick and being in need of a quality backup pass rusher and a quality starting SS.

I would feel a lot better if they went out and signed Eric Berry or Morgan Burnett, both guys older, but still capable of holding a starting spot while a younger guy gets ready to take over.

    He's not beyond criticism....and I don't have to agree.

That's what these boards are for....:point:

So we are really multiple pages into a conversation about *checks notes* a GM wanting his guys on the team? 100 yrs of football and this is really a thing? Literally every GM wants his guys. His Coach. His Players. We cannot laud the guy for forcing Chubb into the lineup by trading Hyde then gripe about the same type of thing.

Ogbah is JAG. The starting spot was upgraded and the rotational depth the gm felt was adequate. I don't think it really warrants all this talk.

Please try to keep in mind that after 19 years of garbage football, we're poised for a 13-3 season, contention for a Super Bowl, have Top 5 players across the NFL at multiple positions... we need to hand-wring over something to keep our skills sharp.

    ^^^^^
Our best record in the past 19 years was 10-6 in 2007. Peep that roster versus today's.

    Baker Mayfield >>>>> Derek Anderson
    Nick Chubb >>>>> Jamal Lewis
Odell Beckham Jr. >>>>> Braylon Edwards
    Jarvis Landry >>>>> Joe Jurevicius
    Myles Garrett >>>>> Kamerion Wimbley
    Joe Schobert >>>>> D'Qwell Jackson
    Denzel Ward >>>>> Leigh Bodden

Literally... the only two players from 2007 who have an edge anywhere on the roster are Joe Thomas (duh) and Kellen Winslow (who's production can be matched by Higgins/Njoku, probably).

And...Joe Thomas was a rookie, so it isn't as significant a difference as it could have been as his career progressed, even if he was IMMEDIATELY one of the best at his position.

No one was arguing the merits of a GM wanting his guys. The discussion was geared towards the two transactions that happened, not Dorsey's career, or even his Cleveland career.

This statement tells me, you really didn't read it all or try to absorb it, rather, you are taken aback that there are multiple pages discussing it.

News flash, these are message boards...There is going to be discussion, otherwise they will cease to exist.

Even though you are getting pats on the back about this post, I don't see any additions to the actual discussion.

What I want to know from you since you brought it up is...Why can't you laud a guy for one move, then gripe about an entirely different move that has nothing to do with the other?

Are you trying to say that a man's careers worth of work is the only discussion point? Because we would be waiting years to discuss anything if that's the case and the website would shut down.

It's a relevant discussion that you may or may not choose to join in on...but ridiculing those that did choose really isn't necessary...even if you do get some supportive comments for making a useless one.

So, does that mean you don't want to discuss the question?

  18. TopDawg Legend

Why is that? Because his take doesn't mesh with yours? I thought he made perfect sense. And he did....

Sorry Irish, but of ALL people, it's pretty hilarious to me that you would be the one to make that remark...You've had your "fan club" forever, and it doesn't matter if you are correct or not. You always win on the "pats on the back" score....

Be careful dogside. You're gonna get an assignment.....:point:

Yeah, that's what I meant, lol

His take was we were arguing that GMs want their own guys in the system...that wasn't even close to the argument. It was about two transactions that took place and the compensation value and whether the roster was better or worse off for it... He read one line out of ten POS about a GM wanting his guys...that's all he got out of thay entire interaction??

And all you got was I was complaining that he got accolades...you get hurt every time someone has a different take, so what ever...this is getting old
