Looking forward to 2019, Browns Free Agency/Trades

Come on TD, Is it that Dorsey has no fault or is it that Duke Johnson is expensive and that's the motivation of all this or is it all part of the plan...my head is spinning reading all of it...

Dorsey signed him to that contract. So I wouldn't think Dorsey believes it was an expensive signing.

Here's the thing about your 3 headed monster at RB...right now it is a 2 headed monster until week 9 of the Browns season(assuming Hunt doesn't do anything to jeopardize that in that time frame)...If Duke was a "professional" he would be with the team and helping the team in any way possible because he felt like he would be a part of the turnaround. There's a lot of love coming out of Berea lately...but Duke obviously has no love to give as he wants traded NOW, not when the Browns are ready to trade him, if that was even a part of "the plan" you keep talking about.

I want a team that can sustain a 19-20 game season, not counting preseason. That takes more than just splash signings...IF YOU HAD EVER HAD EXPERIENCE IN PROFESSIONAL SPORTS you would have known that...I mean, come on man, that's how it works.

So, adding a few guys and then dropping a few others, doesn't necessarily mean a Super Bowl is imminent. What happens, when/if one of our premier edge rushers goes down to injury, or doesn't that happen in "Pro Sports". Garrett and Vernon have missed 16 games due to injury over the past 2 seasons... When one or both are watching on the sidelines, who is going to pick up the slack?

What is the obvious need to move on from Emmanuel Ogbah, who finally provided some much needed depth on this team.

Why, since you are the professional sports expert here, is it necessary to replace capable backups with pedestrian players...since you are so in tune with all things John Dorsey? I think that's a legitimate question.

I am very happy that the Browns are no longer going to suck...please don't read any more into my psyche. But, I want the Browns to make it all the way AND WIN a Super Bowl...not simply be better than 1-31.

Sorry for not being a "mediocre fan"

Why are you being such a dick????
I don't know what your problem is, but I need this bullshit like a hole in the head. What more could I add to explain my take on the subject. Piss off ya little baby....

I'm not the one that got butt hurt that his man crush was being criticized. The worst part of all of this is that I also had a man crush on Dorsey, I have said over and over I love what he has done to improve this roster...but I am not blinded by that love so much that I can't recognize that maybe some bad moves are also being made along the way.

You a the biggest butt hurt Browns fan I've ever seen...lol!

To sum all this bullshit up:

Irish doesn't agree with recent moves made by John Dorsey, and posts his concerns.

I remind Irish where we were a year ago, and suggest having a little faith in the man with the plan.

Irish can't handle it, and proceeds to attack me for "blindly" defending our GM. Never mind how far we've come in the short time JD has been on the job. Lets all get in a twist over some minor roster moves involving mostly backup underperformers, and question our GM.

So now I'm just a blind supporter of our GM, and a mediocre fan, that only wants us to be better than 1-31....lol!

    Get a grip bro...

LMAO, if that's your summary, then being a reporter is definitely out of the cards for your future. Enjoy your day...I'm over it

For a "traditional football guy" Dorsey is a big fan of analytics?

He only played 4 snaps per game in 2016, so you can throw out the 74 value
2017 he had a 49.8 rating on 27.4 snaps per game
2018 he had a 67.5 rating on 39 snaps per game
Total snaps to date = 1,204 plays in his career

    In comparison
    Kindred had
2016 55.7 rating on 33.6 snaps per game
2017 67.3 rating on 43.1 snaps per game
2018 46.9 rating on 31 snaps per game
Total snaps to date = 1,734 plays in his career

So, in reality, you can easily argue they have been EXTREMELY similar in production over their first 3 years, other than Kindred has a lot more snaps of those 3 years,

Regardless, everyone is missing the point...Trade Kindred straight up for Murray and there really isn't an argument.. He cut Kindred and traded an asset in Ogbah...THAT was the whole point.

Spit-balling here, but it could be that Dorsey plans to draft a safety in the R2-R4 range with the expectation they be a starter. When discussing said plan with Kindred, who probably saw a clear path to being a starter in 2019 with the trade of Peppers, he may have balked, which would lead Dorsey to needing to find someone who either could be amenable to an open competition for the spot or even an outright mentor-ship situation.

So you give up your only DL backup plan to get a mentor?

edit: Kindred has been in a competition since he entered the league and has never balked at that competition. From all reports, he helped Peppers when he was drafted to replace him.

Again, just a hypothesis since I don't know.

I'm not thrilled with "giving away" Ogbah but I also thought it was a mistake to cut both Orchard and Nassib last preseason. It turned out that yes, that was a bad move. But evidently, Chris Smith and Chad Thomas are deemed capable enough (or at least more capable than Ogbah) of holding down the back-up spots at EDGE.

    ^^^^^
Dorsey is also betting on himself, via Austin Corbett, by trading away a Pro Bowl caliber right guard for a #2 defensive end. I'm not wild with his decision to trade for the highest paid non-Khalil Mack EDGE player in the NFL who's at best a 7.5 sack kinda dude... but that'll be Dorsey's sword to fall on.

If Corbett flops, Zeitler helps block for a 2,000 yard rusher, and Vernon kicks in 6-8 sacks, we lost that deal.

And Dorsey will have to answer for that.
