Remember when people said the 0-16 parade meant people wouldn't want to come to the Browns and now they're America's team and a favorite to win the Super Bowl?

So 18 hours later the Browns roster changed like:

Emmanuel Ogbah gone
Derrick Kindred gone

Eric Murray added

So we lost a pass rushers and a better version of Eric Murray...to gain a lessor version of Derrick Kindred.

I'm not a fan of making moves just to make moves. This wreaks of Dorsey wanting his players on his roster, whether or not it actually makes the team better.

Eric Murray is making almost the identical salary as Kindred, so it wasn't about money, it was about Dorsey playing GM.

I'll praise Dorsey when I feel he deserves it, but I'm going to call him out when I feel he deserves it as well...this is a personal move that made no sense for the team and it's future success.

 

The biggest difference between Kindred and Murray, besides Kindred's obviously been more successful, is that Dorsey drafted Murray in that same draft 3 years ago. His ego can't handle that in the 4th round, he evaluated Murray higher than Kindred. Despite Kindred outplaying him in the NFL over these 3 seasons, Dorsey trades a second round pass rushers to swap the two safeties...

Can anyone explain this to me, I really want to understand.

 

This is funny. So much to get into here...First of all, where is the proof that Kindred is the better player than Murray? PFF would argue that big time. Stats mean squat. Everyone's situation is different. I don't care that Kindred racked up stats on a team that couldn't win a game. John Dorsey clearly thought Murray was better 3 years ago, so why would you expect his opinion to have dramatically changed? We pay John Dorsey now because he is a much better evaluater of talent than the guy he replaced. So now that he wants to get the guys he wants, you want say it's all ego, and he's fuckin up the team? I don't get it....

Talk about looking for stuff to gripe about. I had no idea this deep connection with Derrick Kindred existed.

Let John Dorsey do his job. He'll be the NFL exec of the year.....We are one year removed from 0-16, and he has the world talking about the Cleveland Browns as Super Bowl contenders. Enough said.

Because I am upset with a move, you say I am picking him apart?

It's more about overall roster than ANYTHING else.

I am pissed that we have very little to work with at the safety position, we have little depth on this team at this time, so A) he cuts another safety, which you say was probably because he was owed $2M...nope, he brings in another guy with less success over the same period of time with the same exact salary.

The reason I am upset is that we are further behind than we were when we started the day yesterday.

Trading out Kindred for Murray is of little consequence until you add in the tidbit that we have weakened our backup position on the D-Line to do it...

It just doesn't make ANY sense at all...and it irks me.

As far as me voicing my opinion...it's a free country brother. If you have something to say, say it, but don't come at me with your bullshit.

Super Bowl contenders have a deep roster. I LOVE what Dorsey has done to add to this team...what I don't love is what he keeps taking away when there isn't a need to take it away.

Either he is so maniacal that he can't stand looking at the faces that another GM has put on the roster or he is a guy who can't stand still long enough and simply feels like he isn't doing his job if he isn't constantly making moves.

The guys he is moving on from aren't lighting the world on fire, but they could be pieces to a long playoff run if they were handled the right way instead of simply pushed aside. Now Duke wants a trade and isn't reporting to camp because he feels slighted... I guess you are happy about that too? We probably are going to get a 6th round draft pick for him, but no worries, I'm sure there are 10-15 guys in the draft to replace him with that 6th pick, right?

I am discussing two sequential moves in a single day, not the Browns off season. Chill out....

I don't think he did the team any favors giving up Ogbah for what equals out to the same safety he cut just hours earlier...

Help me understand how YOU feel exchanging Kindred for Murray, and losing Ogbah strengthens the roster as a whole. You started out with a 25 year old safety drafted in the 4th round with 17 starts and a backup situational pass rusher who could rush from the end or DT spots...and ended the day with a hole in the defensive line depth and a 25 year old safety drafted in the 4th round with 11 starts...oh, but the safety has a different name, so we are all good...

As far as the two safeties:

Kindred: Games-42 , Games Started-17 , INTs-2 , Forced Fumbles-1 , Tackles-144 , Tackles for Loss-10 , QB Hits-2
Murray: Games-45 , Games Started-11 , INTs-1 , Forced Fumbles-0 , Tackles-88 , Tackles for Loss-3 , QB Hits-2

Look, I know we were 1-31 in 2016 and 2017, but that doesn't make up for the fact Murray has done a lot less in comparison to Kindred at his same position.

Even if they were DEAD EVEN on talent...let's not even think about Kindred as a better player, I know you can't have an argument that he is a worse player at this point...but, even if they were exactly the same production..

You've lost a piece of valuable depth in Ogbah to make this safety swap a reality.

It simply doesn't make any sense to me...sorry

I've been waiting all my life for a guy like John Dorsey to take the reins of the Cleveland Browns. So when I hear a Browns fan wioth a bur up their butt over something he did, it makes me laugh. I'm sorry you don't like his moves Irish.

Dorsey and I have a lot in common. Lets face it, he takes chances on players all the time. Players that we both know you wouldn't consider, and I would...I love the guy, and when I hear someone criticize him over fairly minor moves, I'm bound to speak up. It's my nature.

Is this your first experience with professional sports? I mean, geezus man, this is how it works. That's what the "Pro sports" comment was meant to imply. Duke knows that Cleveland is shopping him, so he doesn't show up for "VOLUNTARY" workout. Did you expect him to be there or something? We see this stuff every year in the NFL. I don't let it bother me....If it was mandatory yesterday, and Duke still isn't there, then maybe there's reason to be concerned....Do I want Duke to remain a Brown? Of course I do. I've always said you need three good RB's on any team.

One thing about Duke is, he's not cheap. At least not by RB standards, and I have to think that is the motivation ultimately behind this...
