I like what I did for all of these. I took an interesting approach with the Eagles but I really like what I did with the Texans in the draft the most.
I'm looking at that Eagles draft and thinking to myself "Eli twice a year sans Beckham will do nicely to get those Rookie INT numbers up." I like both those secondary guys. Thompson probably not as much as I expected to but he has the skills and range to play single high.
I actually like your Bills and Eagles drafts better. I like the double dip CBs to close out Buffalo and the Slayton, Cominsky mid rounders for Philly.
Thompson was more of the type of safety I was looking for. He has his own issues and it's questionable if he should be the first safety taken but he fits what I think I need going forward. I keep wondering if I took Dru Samia too early but I think he can contribute early at guard if needed and he may be due to injuries. He has a mean streak in him.
Guys like Samia are only taken too early if they don't work out... He's a little light in the pants which would probably take him off the Giants board entirely but dude has 48 starts and has seen some big time pass rushers. Gives you a little positional flexibility from a depth standpoint as well. Hits the markers for arm length and hand size etc... I honestly don't have a clue where he was projected but I have a soft spot for O-line guys who have lots of starts for major programs.
Pittsburgh Steelers R1(10) Devin White- LB LSU R3(8) Vosean Joseph- LB Florida R3(19) Jamel Dean- CB Auburn R4(20) Gary Jennings- WR WVU R5(18) Albert Huggins- DL Clemson R6(2) Stanley Morgan Jr- WR Nebraska R6(19) Tony Pollard- RB Memphis R6(25) Phil Haynes- G WF R6(34) Jamal Davis- OLB Akron R7(5) Demarcus Christmas- DL FSU This draft focused on speed, physicality, playmaking and most of all filled some giant needs....getting 2 LBs early was a focus and making a move up to get the best ILB in the draft worked out great...adding another player in Joseph who played his best games while facing his toughest competition made this selection easy...adding a CB w size and speed was a must opposite Joe Haden...getting Jennings in round 4 who also has size and speed was a gift who found the end zone quite often(13 TDs)...maybe my biggest steal of the draft was Huggins...this kid was a parade AA and top 100 recruit who just so happened to play behind 2 studs(Wilkins and Lawrence)who will likely be drafted in the top 40...he is vastly underrated and performed well in the playoffs when Lawrence was suspended...Morgan can add depth to a WR corp and can learn behind JuJu at both inside and outside WR...Pollard is return ace and be a weapon as a 3rd down RB catching the ball...Haynes is a versatile OL that can help w depth...Davis is great athlete from the MAC...the last guy who Pitt took a chance on turned out ok lol...lastly I had to take a Nole and Christmas is a player who can play the 5 tech if needed in the 3-4 or put on some size and become a NT...overall I felt this draft was very productive for Pitt...also great job to all the Mods
