I'm starting to think I'm the only person around these parts down on Kaden. But @TopDawg following that pick up with Dawson Knox was reminiscent of the Ravens last year... Fool everyone into thinking your done drafting tight ends by taking an iffy prospect first, then follow that up with the guy you really wanted all along, lol.
Well, after his 40 time you can't be the only guy down on him. But in the 4th round, it's not a bad decision. He does have great hands as a safety outlet. And coming from Stanford he has at least a decent understanding of the blocking aspect from his position. He won't end up being the top producing TE in the class. But he might be a reliable 2 for a number of years
I thought I set up the Deebo pick pretty well, if I was gonna pick a favorite move. Making two trades down to the middle of the round was nerve racking, but he was my guy all the way. It worked out extremely well picking up the two extra 5th's.... Gave me the ammo to then move back up into the 4th for my TE's. It's always fun. I enjoy these drafts quite a bit.
I honestly couldn't decide. Sometimes it's really difficult...Just glad I moved on them when I did, because the TE's were rolling that round.
I won't argue that, but this is a quietly deep class of TEs and there may be up to 10 guys that can become eventual #1s on a roster. Kaden Smith is on the outside of that 10, IMO. And just to clarify - I ain't knocking your pick of him when you took him, @TopDawg , for most of what RT posted. I'm just giving my opinion on this tight end class and Kaden Smith. And as for Dawson, he's locked into the top 5 on my rankings at the position with a ceiling probably as high as #3 when the final rankings come out.
This folds back into our previous conversation about usage and questions with Metcalf and the Mississippi offense. Knox's usage in that offense makes him a statistical abnormality for those that project future NFL success through mainly numbers.
I sound like a broken record with them, but they really struggled at the QB position and I don't think the offense was designed to utilize the TE anyway. It was pretty dysfunctional considering all the talent...
Apologies for not clarifying. That's the total number of points he would need to shift as high as 4 or as low as 8. ^^That's based on current totals so that window will change once final numbers come in.
I think the issues were less with Ta'amu's abilities and more with how they operated that offense. Jordan has a solid skill set and is a largely overlooked commodity in this draft class, IMO. Metcalf actually did what the offense asked of him, so whether they knew what his strengths and limitations were or whether they were horridly noncreative is tough to know. But the difference between D.K. and Knox is that it's glaringly obvious that he could have done much more but they refused to find ways to utilize his skill set.
Couldn't agree more. Like most, I'm usually pointing at the QB or the coach. You have a weapon like Knox, ya gotta find a way to get him the ball....
