Well how many guys that were actual NFL GM's do we get to hear from? It is what it is...His opinion matters more than Joe Shmoe.

Not many to be frank. But the farther he gets from the job the more he feels like everyone else. A guy who is just reporting what he hears rather than a guy who is watching prospects and telling us what he sees.

He has a job to do. It's entertainment...Bottom line is his word carries more weight than most talking heads.

FTR- I don't remember which one, but I saw one of the NFL CH scrolls today that had NYG taking Gary at #6 and Andre Dillard at #17. lol! I think it was Charles Davis.

Honestly the Giants used to have a bunch of guys that were out talking about who they liked. Everyone knew who the giants targets were well in advance of the draft. I think those little birds are less reliable these days. When Gettleman took over he let a few of the scouting / evaluation team go. The info coming out of the giants front office since then has been a little less spot on. I think people don't really know what to make of it --yet.

I went back and pulled every player Gettleman has ever drafted and compiled some info. He's a fairly damn predictable drafter and has some very real physical marks he believes matter. Especially when you understand what his vision of the team really is. The QB is something of a wild card. He has never had to draft one. So no one really knows what the hell he is thinking there. But it is going to be VERY hard for Gettleman to pass on one of these edge guys at 6. Gary meets his physical marks so it's certainly possible he would like him. But there are other guys that meet it better.

Dillard I haven't watched much of. But if Gettleman wants to be a ground based offense my understanding is Dillard might not be the right tackle for him.

See I honestly think NYG is gearing up to go for Haskins....Eli is done. What choice do they really have? It's rare that the NYG would be in this position in the first place, but since they are, I would look at this draft as a colossal fail for them if they don't come out with a top QB prospect.

Haskins is my guy and I hope they are. I don't think they are though. Gettleman doesn't believe in positional value, he doesn't believe in analytics. He only believes in BPA and building the trenches first. His entire philosophy is 1) run the ball 2) stop the other team from running 3) rush the passer. That's it. No where in those three foundational elements of Gettleman team building is the Giants being capable of completing a forward pass...

I'm starting to feel bad for NYG fans...

    This too shall pass...

He has a vision and he is sticking to it. They are saying all the right things about finding a replacement for Eli but Gettleman will not rush into it. I mean it's better to find the right guy than A guy. I think Haskins can be the guy though. Murray too for that matter. There are some circles that believe Gettleman has already identified his QB of the future -- and that he elected to play at Oregon again this year instead of going pro.

I mean I hate a lot of what he has done, and clearly I have no problem throwing around opinions on this sort of thing, but the owner hired him to do a job. There is no way that his approach is a surprise to Mara. But when you let Collins walk (a move by itself that wasn't a huge issue) AND you trade OBJ in the same offseason -- that sort of condenses your timeline before people start calling for your head. If he doesn't get this thing turn around by 2020 -- well then at least the Giants might be in Lottery for Lawrence and someone else can be the guy trying to get him.

    Agreed.

I enjoyed hearing about how your owners grandson's cried their little eyes out when he told them about the O'dell Beckham trade...

I'm sorry, but that's kind of awesome....

Many grown ass men felt that way too. But like I said Gettleman's philosophy is rooted in 1980's style football so trading Beckham to be able to draft an OT makes sense in his world. It's going to be really weird seeing Beckham wearing a Browns Jersey... But hell Mark Bavaro and Carl Banks both put on a Browns jersey at some point -- so it's not without tradition I guess...

There is certainly a part of me that wants to see Baker and Beckham light the world on fire and laugh about it.

The best OT prospect since Joe Thomas....

    Without question, this is the steal of the G.M.O. so far;

  20. Underdog Franchise Player Patriots

Just putting an early feeler out there...depending what happens in the next 20 picks, Pats could be looking to move one of their 3rd round comp picks (3-33 or 37) for a 4 and a 5. Might be willing to throw a late pick or two back to balance things out if need be. Keep it in mind if there's someone you like on the board when those picks come up.
