Larry, what are you talking about? lol

Gretzky left that club ten years ago, this is only Tocchets second season as the coach.

Fall out of the playoffs isn't impossible but highly unlikely, they would have to lose out on the whole season.

I guess he can thank Gretzky for his Coaching duties at Zona.

In the summer of 2005, he became an assistant coach with the Phoenix Coyotes. On December 17, 2005, Tocchet took over as interim head coach for Phoenix, stepping in while head coach Wayne Gretzky was out on an indefinite leave of absence due to his mother's illness (and subsequent passing). The team went 2–3–0 under Tocchet. Gretzky eventually resumed his duties on December 28.

That was 14 years ago Skinny !!!

All I said he can Thank #99.

What do Leafs do every year..........lol

I know they're good friends, there was that gambling issue involving Janet. Gretzky left the yotes in '09 under a real bad bankrupcy situation. They owed him money, I think the nhl still owes him money for his 10% stake.
Tocchet probably has ties dating back to that time.

I think it's pretty safe to assume that TOR is a playoff team this year. That's primarily because the Atlantic, once you get past the top 4 - maybe 5 - teams in the div., has decided to engage in extreme suckitude. I cannot imagine the Leafs falling all the way out of the wildcard standings. In fact, I think they're pretty secure with a top-3 div. spot.

The Habs and Bluejackets only need to be careful of each other. They're doing their best to give the other a playoff spot. Everyone else is safe - those two are just lucky the teams chasing them still suck.

He went to the wrong school but Drury has always been really smart and hard working. Love this choice.

The Euro Series for the 2019-20 season, per The Athletic:
"The league announced Thursday that the (Tampa Bay) Lightning will play the Buffalo Sabres in Stockholm, Sweden, on Nov. 8-9 in a Global Series showdown. The Chicago Blackhawks and [the hockey team from] Philadelphia will play in Prague in the Czech Republic on Oct. 4."

    - I think that Stockholm is a worthy road trip destination for November. Who's in?
    - The Sabres have a boatload of Swedes in their org. or pipeline.
    - I hope that Buffalo goes back to Sweden in 2020, and that they face the Vancouver Canucks. Both teams will be celebrating their 50th campaign, and the top two Calder vote getters (presumptivily) will be Elias Pettersson and Rasmus Dahlin. Swedes, of course!

Vegas easily beat the Jets last night, dominated in every way. This should be a wake up call, they better not play like that in the playoffs.
