Just an update on what's happened so far in the L4SN GMO exercise: Designated both Rashad Higgins, WR and Briean Boddy-Calhoun, DB as RFA's with 2nd round tenders. Designated and signed ERFA's Trevon Coley, DT and Jermaine Whitehead, S Released Jamie Collins (followed suit). Olivier Vernon trade: followed suit except - traded Emanuel Ogbah and Austin Corbitt instead of Kevin Zeitler plus draft picks. Released Darren Fells (followed suit). Odell Beckham, Jr. Trade - followed suit verbatim. Signed C.J. Mosely, ILB Signed Sheldon Richardson, DT. Signed Bradley Roby, DB. Signed Ray-Ray Armstrong, ILB OLB (followed suit). <- edit Signed Anthony Chickillo, ILB OLB <- edit About to sign Kendall Lamm, OT (followed suit). About to sign Eric Kush, OG (followed suit). The above puts us two deep at every position except for Center and special teams. So, anyone I end up drafting would be competing for a back up position this year and (hopefully) for a starter's job in 2020. And I have a little over $22M left in cap space.
What I get from Freddie is, a feeling that if he is struggling, he will put his ego aside and hand off play calling duties or what ever is needed to keep the ship moving in the right direction. Hue did not have that trait.
In this defense he can be DE depth, 3/4 OLB on certain packages, especially after trading Emmanuel Ogbah. I realize Lyman listed him at ILB, but it still isn't a terrible signing at $1.9M/ year. He probably saw where they used him some in 2017 at ILB and just listed him that way. If nothing else, he can contribute on special teams at that price. Chickillo averaged 20 tackles, 4.5 QB hits, 2.5 sacks and 3.5 TFL per year as a swing man over the last 3 years for $1.9M Ogbah averaged 40 tackles, 9 QB hits, 4 sacks and 5 TFL per year as a starter over the last 3 years and was due $2.1M on the last year of his contract to become a backup to Vernon... In the end, it's probably a wash, but at least he was able to use Ogbah as trade bait instead of moving Zeitler. Only time will tell if Corbett ends up as good as Zeitler.
You guys had him playing in the wrong spot. Just kidding. That was a typo. Go look at the Google spreadsheet in the GMO. I also had Ray-Ray wrong. He's also a OLB. Fixt.
Actually Lym, the Browns are using Ray-Ray as a swing man, he has been used inside and out, but more in the middle than anything...but he is most important to the special teams unit, that's where he has really contributed as a Brown and likely why he was re-signed in real life.
Then I guess John Dorsey doesn't have to worry about me taking his job. I signed him to be a backup for Christ sake!
lol, not really a big deal... These guys are moving where ever they are needed. That's the beauty of purposely signing guys that fit in multiple schemes, which is something Dorsey likes to do.
Saw a guy in another place (probably a troll) legitimately saying that the Ratbirds WR are better than the Browns. He goes further to estimate Willie Sneads catches at 100+ along with whoever their 2 is at 80 something. He had Jackson throwing for 4500 yds. You cant even try to reason with somebody like that.
lol! 4500 passing from Jackson. That's ambitious..... Mentioning Willie Snead in the same sentence with Beckham and Landry is just comical. Every fan base has their "dream weaver" fans...I know there's this Browns fan that predicted an 8-8 season (as worse case scenario) the year we went 0-16. What can ya do? Sometimes reality is hard to see...
It's a 374.7% improvement over his 2018 mark. I don't want to take anything away from Jackson... I said he was QB2 in that draft if he went to the right situation. I (1) don't believe Baltimore is the right situation, and (2) don't know that he can even develop with the options they have around him.
Hard to believe we are only a year removed from, as David Njoku calls it, the "defeated season". #0-16 The possibilities are endless!!
For some reason that tweet won't load^^^....IDK why, and I don't remember what it was. lol! But I'msure it had a positive spin toward the Cleveland Browns.
Dorsey was Director of College Scouting with Green Bay when they took him in 2010. Eliot Wolff was also in the building at the time. Just sayin'.
