Callahan agreed to a 3year, $21mil deal with $10mil guaranteed with the Broncos.

Thats a real sickener. I would've agreed to that in a heartbeat.

Agreed. Cost discrepancy between him and Skrine isn't remotely worth any potential losses.

You know the knee jerk reaction you have when losing players like Amos and Callahan is understandable, and right now the Bears are in a position far from what they were a few years ago. I believe we had a thread up at one point a few years ago the face of the franchise or something along those lines and I think it was Kyle fucking Long was the one of the only players that we could likely hang our hats on and to move forward with. Tough decisions need to be made and the Bears are finally in a position with a talented team where balance with be key.
So pat makes an interesting point, were those contracts those two got worthy of what they were paid or will it be more of an illusion? Will Dix and Skrine overachieve with theirs given the front 7 should make them appear better than they really are? It's far easier to clean up the scraps than it was to be served full courses and expect the same desired result.

Was just listening to Bernstein & McKnight on AM 670, who had Eric Ekholm from Yahoosports on. He reports bears monitoring FA edges right now, including Ziggy Ansah, Justin Houston, and Nick Perry. Per Ekholm, all three are asking for big $, which is why their market isn't moving. Ekholm believes bears will await the tablescraps if prices come down to replace Aaron Lynch, though he didn't advise if Lynch coming back was a possibility. Cant think it is without Fangio. Lynch was garbage without Vic......

^Exactly my point. How good is Amos going to look if the Packers' front 7 is non-existent (sans Mike Daniels)? Z'Darius and Preston Smith are upgrades to the old Clay Matthews and inconsistent/bust Nick Perry, but they need a NT with more consistency, because Kenny Clark couldn't stay on the field (but still is 23), and Mo WIlkerson is a FA, meaning they have a 5 tech need. This is why I'm thankful Pace put 'exclusive rights' tag on Roy Robertson Harris for only $645k in 2019 (for he, Isaiah Irving and Rashad Coward). <---moves that I find very smart on Pace's end.

Vikes will be competitive, but the packers rebounding is my biggest concern for the bears NFC North barriers this season. Their GM isn't Ted Thompson, just sitting doing nothing while it gets worse.

On a separate note, the Bungals cut Vontaze Burfuct. Any takers for this violent shithead?

Yeah you're right sometimes I tend to overreact to some of these moves and forget to take a breath and think about them first. Sure losing Amos isn't a good thing given the Bears recent history at the position, but how much of that lack of success was because of what was in front of them which was little to nothing?

Mega punt is back on a 2 year deal! He’s starting to grow on me.

Needs to change his name to just average punt because that’s all he is on his best day.

Most of these links came from our inbred friends at CCS. They basically confirm everything you've said, if saying the exact opposite were considered confirmation.

For Bears fans none of these make for good reading/viewing at all. The first one is the play i was talking about earlier, and it was Field Yates with the Conte comparison. The 3rd link and the last link both basically rip Dix to shreds. In particular, the video in that last link, if a Bears player ever pulled that shit at the goal-line(i don't care when in the season it was), i would be permanently done with them and hope they'd be gone in the offseason.

I actually feel worse about this move having seen/read this stuff than i did beforehand, which is saying something. But whether its former players, Packers beat writers or fans, the verdict is the same everywhere and it is damning. Guess we'd better hope Dix finds this prove it deal reeeeaaaaallly motivating......

Exactly what needs to happen. I would def rather have Houston out of that bunch.

Defo. We had that breakout player prediction thread before last season started and my pick was RRH. That always seemed ambitious, and indeed he didn't actually breakout, but he had a solid season and the development continued. Great move putting that tag on him. RRH can play.

Ha, im gonna take a guess that we're both a no on this one.

I would too. Perry was too inconsistent in Green Bay, and Ansah, though a down 2018, had a few stellar seasons prior. You have to wonder if Ansah fits in a 3-4, being a traditional 4-3 DE for Detroit. Ansah's size (6'6, 275) makes me think he he should put on 5-10 more lbs and be a 5 tech.

That, and Matt Patricia has no problem letting him walk out the door. I know he got his guy from New England in Flowers, but concerning nonetheless.

Should I buy a lottery ticket? We don't agree too often.......(the last one being OG Kush.) No I didn't want another walking 15 yard penalty.

And Jon Gruden signed him. Separate thought: the Raiders better be on Hard Knocks.

Because these two jokers are teammates^

This is a great idea!! With everything going on between Oakland and Vegas and the players that were added...I would watch every episode.

I wonder who is eligible to opt out this year. It's all the playoff teams and any team with a new coach. I'd have to research a little, unless someone has a link.

Edit: turns out it wasn't difficult to find out...

    • Lions
    • Raiders
    • Giants
    • 49ers
    • Redskins

Houston signing with the colts for 2 years $24 million. Rumors have it Lynch is still in the mix.

This can only be a ref to my FF team in our league last season, cos i was never a big fan of the player himself on our board. He's been a journeyman bum.

OG Kush is one of the great weed strains of all time. The list of OG cross-strains its parented, well, i couldn't even name them there's that many. And the Bears happened to have an Offensive Guard named Kush on the team last year. The name,"High on OG Kush" wrote itself.

I def think we agree more these days then we used to. Your football knowledge has come on a long way since your youth

That is a good shout. I certainly don't need to see Patricia's slob ass filling the frame all summer.
