Fill in the depth chart . . .

    WR1 : | Beckham | ? | ? |
    WR2: | ? | ? | ? |
    Slot: | Landry | Strong | ? |

Your choices (at the moment) are: Higgins, Calloway, Lewis, Ratley and Willies

I think our top 3 WR's are clearly OBJ, Jarvis, and Callaway....Next man up is Higgins. And I really see a very versatile group that could line up anywhere on any given play...Freddie Kitchens is probably in his dream world coming up with ideas to creatively use these weapons...

The funny thing is, all that WR research I did on the college prospects....:rake:

If only I had known that those OBJ rumors were true. lol! I basically dismissed them as "click bait" for like a month, and the reason was because of all the public comments that NYG GM Dave Gettleman had made in regards to the notion. Plus, who knew he would let Beckham go that cheap?

Jay Glazer (FOX) was the first I heard say that the OBJ trade could really happen, probably 4 or 5 weeks ago. Shame on me for refusing to believe it...

What an exciting time for Browns fans!

Glazer doesn't know what he's talking about. Just ask Dline.

I'm not sure I see Calloway as a shoe in for WR2. I think he'll get his opptys, but I believe Higgins showed a lot of potential, and hands, and route running variety, that Calloway just wasn't there yet.

At any rate we'll have more than four ready to go. When's the last time we could even imagine that?

Dorsey is fearless, so what's his plan for Duke?

Is he trade fodder today, or does he get 1/2 a season, as protection for Chubb?

I think we can all see the handwriting on the wall, once Hunt is made eligible, but what kind of deal would have to be offered to get Duke moved now?

Why did you have to trigger it on our boards, friend?

Good question, I have no idea what the trade value should be for Duke.. I have always been very high on Duke Johnson, so I would rather have him on the roster than move him for anything less than a 2nd rounder. However, based on the Browns usage and his production, I'm not sure you can get more than a 4th/5th rounder...that same 4th/5th rounder will be available at the trade deadline. The good news is he's only 25, the bad news is he has a $4M cap hit if traded in 2019...and for his future team he has a $4.1M in 2020 and $5.1M in 2021 hit. Unless he is reaching the 1,000 yard all-purpose marker annually, those numbers are kind of high.

I think personnel groups will matter more than assigned receiver to position. That tends to be more the fundamental behind Kitchens' (Haley's) offense. So a simple ranking of the receivers is probably sufficient. In which case: Beckham, Landry, Higgins, Callaway.

From a where do they fit standpoint?

    WR1: Beckham, Callaway
    WR2: Higgins, Louis
    Slot: Landry

I'm guessing they only carry 5-6 wide receivers and we're probably not done adding to the group just yet. Ratley and Willies look like practice squad candidates.

Callaway has more talent than Higgins. You'll see him take that next step this year. Higgins is a nice big target but he doesn't have the wheels like Antonio....You know what Dorsey loves more than anything,...Speed.

I was offered a trade for Duke in the GMO exercise. I counter offered with my "I don't want to trade him" price of a 2nd round draft pick.

    I don't disagree... I just don't think he's there yet.

    My thinking similarly:SEP:

Not sure that I'd pigeon hole Landry in the slot. However, I would say that Beckham and Landry are #1 and #2. Then Calloway and Higgins in at #3a & #3b depending on what sort of mismatches they want to create.

I could see Odell lined up in the slot as much as he would be on the outside. I also think that Freddy/Todd will get creative in how they use this group of WR. If this crazy trade pans out the offense will be fun to watch.

I will say that I agree with Lym that the roster is thin at LB and S. If one of the starters goes down to injury for any length of time we could be in for a very long year again. Not sure how Dorsey plans to address this, but I hope he doesn't "drop the ball" and finds a way to add more depth at these positions.

Agreed, Calloway was away from the game for a while, so it's not surprising he's got work to do. Higgins on the other hand was in yr 2, and showed his development. If Calloway can do the same this season, he may in fact surpass Higgins, and I'm fine with that.

Higgins was actually in his 3rd year...4th year coming up, to Callaway's 2nd year.

I'm kinda feeling like we've finally got all the weapons, and a lot of this is going to fall on Freddie & Co. I Really like Freddie, but I'm not confident in his ability to graduate up to HC seamlessly. I expect we'll see some growing pains from our HC, and I think, given the obvious steps to create a SB roster, I don't know how much rope Dorsey is going to give him.

He's a great guy, and has shown how good he is calling an O, and how well he can connect with his players, so I just hope he can continue to showcase those skills, and navigate the HC mine fields.

I think Freddie is a perfect symbol / icon for the Browns. Not a pretty face, just a genuine, solid working man, who knows who he is, and what he has to do. I love that about him.

    Go Freddie, Go Browns!
