This is the spot for everyone to check in and discuss some important topics for the 2019 season. #1 - We need to set a draft date. I'm going to start by suggesting Monday, May 20th at 6:00pm ET as the first day of the draft with Tuesday the 21st being the extra day if needed. Please, check your calendar and confirm that you can or cannot be available for this date. #2 - 2019 Calendar May 1st will now be the yearly cut date. All rosters must be trimmed down to the 30 man prior to 12am on May first or they will be trimmed down by the commissioners. #3 - We should review all the rules to make sure they are up to date. Everything in this league is pretty well ordered so no changes will likely need made. However, at the request of several owners I will open up a vote to the league on abolishing the D/SPTs spot. This will be a one time vote that will decide that roster spot permanently and will take affect immediately. All members of the league must vote on this amendment before it is enacted. I have put down the options that have been discussed and make sense for this particular league. And to clarify the question before it is asked, the scoring will remain the same if a change is made to give individual players the SPTs points. We will not be voting on scoring adjustments. We will simply be reassigning the same points that would have been earned the SPTs (6 points for return TD, either punt or kick).
This vote can be made while the empty spot at owner exists, being that it will be a simple majority rule. @Will @RTTRUTH @LAOJoe @IrishDawg42 @KTSHEA92 @Spicyweiner @beachbum @ravens_R_#1 @StlCrtn @JS
May 20th looks good today...The only thing that could mess it up is if my daughter were to have a playoff softball game. But I don't think many games are on Mondays, so I should be fine.
I am completely against assigning points to skill players. So the only options that I would get behind are eliminating the SPTs altogether or leaving it as is. The SPT barely does anything however there is strategy in that we don't need to roster one until we are in-season. I would get behind either of those options. As for if a spot got added to replace them I would not add a starting spot to replace them offense OR defense. I would be more or less indifferent on if a roster spot got added to the bench or not if SPT went away.
We will definitely not be adding a starting spot at either offense or defense. It's simply not an option for this league considering the time invested in building the rosters around the rules and roster limits that we started with. However, the additional bench spot is a non-issue other than deciding what its designation would be (offense or defense). It would be essentially returning the non-IR spot that was eliminated when we got the option of both PS and IR spots last season.
Tim I am confused on how we differentiate between offense and defense for the extra depth spot. Does it even matter as long as everyone on your bench isn't on the other side of the ball or am I missing something? Either way, for the same reason we won't add starting spots, I don't think it is right to move point assignments to skill players. Some values suddenly change dramatically.
Yeah, that's my fault. I'm working on a couple different things at once and I'm confusing the regular depth for the split at PS or IR. It would be just a standard bench position. As for the the points being reassigned, I can set up another poll option that does not include rolling those points over if a depth spot is created from the SPT elimination.
I second this. I should be good unless my wife is giving birth! Getting real close to the due date...
All the votes have been reset to include Joe's requested option and to clarify the bench option. Everybody gets to vote again - @Will @RTTRUTH @LAOJoe @IrishDawg42 @KTSHEA92 @Spicyweiner @beachbum @ravens_R_#1 @StlCrtn @JS
Option 2 now redundant? I mean option either has to be identical to option 4 or 5, right? For voting efficiency purposes this probably still needs adjusting. Sorry Tim. Or am I missing something?
