I’m not getting excited whatsoever about Mike Davis. 3.7 career YPC, and has had his chances to prove himself and hasn’t gotten it done.

Cordarrelle Patterson I am very excited about. I can see Nagy using him a ton of different ways, including lots of backfield work. Plus, anything that gets Fuckquan Mizzell off the field is a positive.

Sucks about Amos and Callahan, but they must feel like they are replaceable.

Between Patterson and Davis....there is absolutely no reason for Mizzell to have a roster spot.

    Ted Larsen is back.

Was Witzmann too expensive? Is Eric Kush’s neck worse than thought?

    Lol ‘Fuckquan Mizzel.’

This past season there was very little negative talk regarding the safety position on these boards from what I remember since the departure of Mike Brown.
Every year it was the same old song and dance with that position, and then this past season all that chatter stopped. We finally turned the fucking corner.
From Manning, Afalava, Wright, Conte, Mundy to Rolle. Who did I leave off? I do remember when Manning started to finally turn his game around he was then off to the Texans. Say what you want about Manning I always appreciated his return game and his ability to take the ball north in a hurry.
So I guess it's probably about time to come up with some nicknames for the current inane clown safety posse.

    Umm... Eddie Jackson? Inane?

Pat beat me to it. For the right price I wouldn’t mind it. Could be a good fit playing next to an all pro.

    Okay maybe.

The biggest positive is the guy never misses games.

Hahaha No Bear-man just some of the pieces around him.
You can't say that with Berry.

For the right price sure why not , makes you think they once again are drafting a safety , now there's a surprise lol.

I think they like Deon Bush. I hated him early on - hated him. But he did get some playing time and did alright last year - much better than two years ago.

And I think that’s their play. Either get a third round safety, or go with Bush. Why invest big money on a strong safety, when you have invested so much in the pass rush, have a solid interior, two solid corners, two great ILB’s, and have a really good to great free in Eddie Jackson?

That, AND... don’t forget we have a new DC. They alllllwayys like to bring in familiar players they’ve worked with and fit their scheme. Does Pagano have ties to someone in the second wave of FA? I don’t know. Maybe.

But... losing Callahan will test Bush or whoever they put back there. Skrine is a solid pro. Not spectacular, but above average. I do like him, but he is a downgrade.

Just pressure the QB and everyone will look great.

1 year $3.5 mill. Gotta like the price tag.

I would have preferred Clayton Geathers.

But this is an cheap deal for a guy that above anything else...has been extremely durable. Hard to find in a safety. And he already knows the NFC North well.

I'm not gonna complain about this one.

    I’m cool with it.

I'm not a fan of Clinton-Dix's game in coverage. That said, he's a solid safety very much in the role of Amos - you want him to be in his gap and make a tackle. Amos was also flawed in coverage, at times. I see this as a similar player filling the role, for a third of the price tag. I'm not sure that the money is being better used elsewhere, but I'll reserve judgement. While I'm not a fan of Clinton-Dix given his time with the Packers, and having to use his name regularly (I mean, it's just not ideal), he does fill the role for a good price tag.

The question now remains - what will we see from Pagano? If Clinton-Dix is strictly filling the role that Amos did, I think he'll be alright. If those responsibilities expand, I think we'll see the lapses in Clinton-Dix's game start to appear.

Back to watching the safety position for liabilities, Bears fans. It was fun while it lasted...
