Desean was on the books for $10M, which the consensus believed was his market value. Eagles restructure/extend him for $27M over 3 years with $13M guaranteed. The rest of the breakdown is unknown but if he loses a step in the middle of his 2nd season he likely won't be owed anything guaranteed at that point. Fair deal with DeSean probably leaving some money on the table. The draft pick compensation was more or less negligible. A late 6th for a 7th. The Bucs probably wanted a 7th pick this year and also didn't want to give up essentially the last pick in the 6th round.

To me, it kind of feels like retirement just like when Ed Reed went to the Texans. Suggs played college ball in AZ and has a house there, so for all intents and purposes, he's retiring home as far as I'm concerned. If he has a career year and plays 2-3 more seasons, then I stand corrected. Still, Suggs is a significantly older 36 than most in the league because he has been playing for the Ravens since he was 20 years old. That is a lot of wear and tear on the body.
RT Ja'Wuan James to sign big $51M deal with Broncos... Another big man is set to get a very big contract. Former Miami Dolphins right tackle Ja'Wuan James is set to sign the largest contract for a right tackle as he's expected to get a contract done with the Denver Broncos for four years worth $51 million, NFL Network Insider Ian Rapoport reported per agent Bill Johnson of SportsTrust. Rapoport added that he will get $32 million guaranteed as he becomes the highest-paid right tackle in the league. A 2014 first-round pick for the Dolphins who they took 19th overall, James played five seasons in Miami, ending his run with 15 starts a season ago. Finishing last year with a 70.8 grade as the No. 34 offensive tackle, per Pro Football Focus, James got a massive contract that could possibly draw a move to the left side, but it's unlikely. He's become an effective right tackle where he's generally played since finding time on both ends of the line as a rookie. James will likely step in to replace Jared Veldheer, who was a free agent following his first campaign in Denver. (NFL.com)
Report: C.J. Mosley agrees to five-year deal with Jets... A report indicated linebacker C.J. Mosley‘s preference was to return to the Ravens as long as there wasn’t a huge gap between what they were offering and what another team was willing to pay him as a free agent. We’re not sure what the Ravens were offering, but it appears they weren’t able to close enough of that gap. Ian Rapoport of NFL Media reports that Mosley has agreed to a massive five-year deal with the Jets. Rapoport reports that the deal is worth $85 million with $51 million in guaranteed money. That’s bigger than the four-year, $54 million deal that Kwon Alexander agreed to with the 49ers and would set a new standard for inside linebackers. As expected, the Jets have been busy in free agency since the legal tampering window opened on Monday. Mosley is joined at linebacker by Anthony Barr and the team has also reached agreements with wide receivers Jamison Crowder and Josh Bellamy. (PFT)
Sheldon Richardson set to join Browns... The Browns are set to add a piece to their defensive line when deals with free agents can become official on Wednesday. Adam Schefter of ESPN reports that defensive tackle Sheldon Richardson intends to sign a three-year deal with Cleveland. Richardson signed a one-year deal with the Vikings in free agency last year and spent one season with the Seahawks after a trade with the Jets in 2017, so the Browns would be his fourth team in as many years. He started all 16 games with the Vikings and recorded 49 tackles and 4.5 sacks during his lone year in Minnesota. The Browns are also set to add Olivier Vernon to a front seven that includes Myles Garrett, Emmanuel Ogbah, Larry Ogunjobi, Joe Schobert and Christian Kirksey. (PFT)
Packers General Manager Brian Gutekunst has promised to be more aggressive in free agency. He’s putting it into practice. According to Ian Rapoport of NFL Network, the Packers are bringing in Ravens pass-rusher Za'Darius Smith, who they tried to trade for a few years ago. Smith had 8.5 sacks last year, and gives the Packers some cover if Clay Matthews leaves in free agency. Smith’s departure also continues a Baltimore exodus, as C.J. Mosley (Jets), Terrell Suggs (Cardinals), and Eric Weddle (Rams) are gone from last year.
for all the Eagles fans who didn't want the baggage of Antonio Brown, they ignore this move ? Like Jackson isn't a prima donna?
The Packers kept the same defensive coordinator from the 2019 season, but they are making big changes to their personnel on that side of the ball. Tuesday has brought word of agreements with safety Adrian Amos and linebacker Za'Darius Smith. Rob Demovsky of ESPN.com reports that linebacker Preston Smith can be added to a list that would have been unthinkable in Green Bay a few years ago. Smith was No. 13 on PFT’s list of the top 100 free agents and joins the other Smith in an obvious bid to boost the play off the edges of their defense. The dual additions would also seem to signal that linebacker Clay Matthews will be moving on as a free agent. Washington selected Smith in the second round of the 2015 draft and started 50 of the 64 games he played over his first four years. He had 168 tackles, 24.5 sacks, four interceptions and four forced fumbles over that span. (PFT)
Kinda stinks to see every team except the Vikings getting better in the North. Minnesota! Do something!!!
