I try to avoid politics, but this one is just too surreal.

Miami Herald is reporting that the founder of the massage parlor where Kraft got busted was at Trump's party in West Palm Beach to watch the Superbowl and took a selfie with the prez. Apparently she's a huge contributor to his campaign and PACs.

People with money tend to get invited by other people who have money to parties. Doesn’t mean that they know how the person got their money. Just because someone is at your party doesn’t associate you with their crimes. Trump wasn’t using the service. Kraft is friends with Trump,

Eric Weddle‘s first visit since becoming a free agent this week was with the Rams and he won’t be taking any other trips.

The Rams tweeted “fear the beard” a short time after word of Weddle’s visit went public and multiple reporters confirmed that the post was in reference to a deal with the veteran safety. Ian Rapoport of NFL Media reports that it is a two-year deal with a base value of $10.5 million and that it could go up to $12.5 million if certain conditions are met.

It is a return to Southern California for Weddle, who grew up there and spent the first nine years of his career in San Diego with the Chargers. His family still lives in the San Diego area and that was surely part of the allure of joining the Rams.

Weddle joins the Rams a few days before Lamarcus Joyner will become an unrestricted free agent and the move all but closes the door on his return to L.A. (PFT)

Antonio Brown says he’ll announce his new team in a “little bit”

    Mr. Big Chest is back.

In his first exercise video posted since the one in which he announced his new nickname, Steelers receiver Antonio Brown has a message for the masses.

“I’m gonna announce my new team in like a little bit, all right?” Brown says.

Before he makes that proclamation, someone else points out that Brown is already wearing his “black and gray,” which obviously would put the Raiders in play.

However it plays out, Mr. Big Chest has just written a fairly big check. We’ll see if he honors it. (PFT)

Dwayne Allen to sign with Dolphins...

Free agent tight end Dwayne Allen is taking his talents to South Beach.

Allen told Josina Anderson of ESPN that he is signing with the Dolphins. PFT has confirmed that it’s a two-year, $7 million deal.

After the Patriots released him, Allen had a busy week, spending time with the Browns, Bills and Lions before heading to Miami. His last visit ended up being the best fit.

The 29-year-old Allen has spent the last two years with the Patriots, where he was primarily a blocking tight end. Prior to that he spent five seasons in Indianapolis. (PFT)

    Carlos Hyde joins the Chiefs...

    Capture.JPG

One day, he was a member of a 2017 AFC finalist. The next, he’s a member of a 2018 AFC finalist.

Running back Carlos Hyde has signed a one-year, $2.8 million deal with the Chiefs, according to Adam Schefter of ESPN.com.

A second-round pick of the 49ers in 2014, Hyde signed a free-agent deal with the Browns last March. Traded to the Jaguars in October, Hyde didn’t do much for Jacksonville, and the Jags opted to cut him.

Because Hyde was released, his departure won’t count toward potential compensatory draft picks for 2020.

In Kansas City, Hyde joins a depth chart that includes Damien Williams, Spencer Ware, Charcandrick West, and Darrel Williams. The Chiefs previously had Kareem Hunt under contract, but the 2017 rushing champ was dumped on the same day a video emerged of Hunt shoving and kicking a woman last February in Cleveland. Hunt has since signed with the Browns. (PFT)

Cowboys linebacker Sean Lee will be back in Dallas for another year...

Lee, who was on the verge of being released in a salary cap move, has instead agreed to a restructured contract. According to multiple reports, he agreed to cut his $7 million base salary in half to $3.5 million, with the opportunity to earn the other $3.5 million if he meets certain incentives.

Last season Lee appeared in only seven games and played less than half of the defensive snaps in the games he did play. At age 32, he’s been passed by Leighton Vander Esch and Jaylon Smith on the depth chart, and there’s no way he’d ever move ahead of them if they stay healthy.

But the Cowboys like the veteran Lee and still think he can provide something. At a reduced cost, they’ll take what he’s still capable of giving them. (PFT)

I thought the steelers had a chance to get a 2 for Brown, but this trade confirms my general theory. "Draft picks are worth far more than players the closer you get to the draft."

It has to suck for sure fans to eat the 20 million this year and only see a 3 in return, but they couldn't keep Idiot 3 on the team while they still have Idiot 1 and 2 running the show. Plus given all the drama, other GMs weren't going to get fooled into paying a high price for a player a team is desperate to dump. When you look at it that way, then the steelers did the best they could to snag something valuable.

  15. steelersking M.V.P. Steelers

Yes it sucks to have to eat that $21 million cap hit for a player not contributing, but what choice did they have? After the Buffalo deal was killed, that pretty much made it a one team option. Sure, a lot of fans (myself included, especially after the Buffalo deal was nixed) called for the team to hold onto him and bench him. Not really a realistic option...Definitely did not get the level of compensation that they should have gotten, but AB screwed that up...

  16. Jeanquev Legend Steelers

I think they could have waited and gotten more eventually. Yes it would have been more drama and pain but you wait until training camps or even start of the season when players start getting injured and a desperate team gives you a better offer. The Steelers instead dealt from the desperation side of the equation. Even worse AB just wrote the book for how you get out of Pittsburgh if you are unhappy for whatever reason.

  17. beachbum M.V.P. Manager Steelers

AB has set quite the precedent here. Could only be wielded by truly elite players but he definitely broke new ground. At least it's the 66th. That's almost a second. They can use that of they want to move up. Or they can sit tight and get a pretty good player.

Nevin Lawson has started 45 games at cornerback over the last three years for the Lions, but now he’s out.

The Lions are cutting Lawson, Ian Rapoport of NFL Network reports.

Although he was a starter, the decision to cut him is not a big surprise, as it will save the Lions almost $5 million in cap space. Cornerback is a position where the Lions would like to find an upgrade across the field from Darius Slay.

Lawson has played his entire NFL career in Detroit, where he was drafted out of Utah State in the fourth round in 2014. Now he’ll hit free agency and see if he can start somewhere else... (PFT)
