Flyers get down 5-1 and make a decent comeback, but not enough. can't seem to beat the good teams anymore. gotta get healthy fast. 15 games left. need 5 pts to catch the last team. hard to pull off. they did it before.

they have buckets of money this summer in a good FA class. i don't think they open the checkbook to provorov after the down year he has. i wouldn't give him a huge extension that's for sure. spend it wisely.

i "hope" they're building to a bright future. don't know if new GM Fletcher is the right man for the job? True test is this summer. hoping it all works out. the Flyers are last on the Philly sports team scales. Eagles won a SB two years ago and will contend. Sixers are 3rd in the East and the Phillies revamped their entire team with FA! Flyers are the low man in the group. Gotta have a big summer.

The Boston Bruins are an unstoppable machine right now, folks. Unstoppable!

Their current points streak reached 18 consecutive games on Thursday night thanks to a wild come-from-behind 4-3 win over the Florida Panthers that saw them erase a two-goal deficit, and then score two goals in the final 36 seconds to secure the win.

Patrice Bergeron once again played the role of hero for the Bruins with a shorthanded goal early in the third period, and then the game-winning goal with just under seven seconds remaining in regulation.

So we should talk about this for a little bit because this is an absolutely incredible run and has the Bruins currently sitting with the second best record in the league behind only the Tampa Bay Lightning.

With this win the Bruins are now 14-0-4 since returning from their bye week and have built a four-point lead over the Toronto Maple Leafs when it comes to the second spot in the Atlantic Division, which would give them home-ice advantage in what seems to be their inevitable first-round matchup.

They have done a lot of that without the services of one of their best players, David Pastrnak, who has been sidelined since February 10, while Thursday’s game was also played without Marcus Johansson and Jake DeBrusk. Their remaining stars have stepped up and are carrying the load, including master troll Brad Marchand who now has 27 points during the streak after his three-assist performance on Thursday.

Is there a little bit of luck involved here? Sure there is. You do not go 14-0-4 in the NHL without at least a few breaks going your way.

Do the Bruins still have some questions regarding their depth, especially given the recent developments with Johansson and Debrusk? You bet they do, especially with the current injury situation.

But a handful of star players playing at the top of their game and some outstanding goaltending (both of which the Bruins have) can take a team a long way.

Right now with the way they are rolling this is a team that nobody is going to want to face in Stanley Cup Playoffs. Especially a Toronto fanbase that probably still has nightmares about recent postseason matchups with the Bruins. (NBC,s Hockey Talk)

    Rock on, Boston !!!

Bruins playing pretty well and getting the points but they arent as good as many media outlets are leading people to believe. of course, things aren't usually as good or as bad as the media leads people to believe anyway. Bruins dont have enough secondary scoring and their D core isnt deep enough to beat a TB.
Bruins and Leafs are playing in the 1st round, its all but certain. Both strong teams playing very well, should be a 6 or 7 game series. the real issue is that TB will be waiting to clobber the winner.

Well, maybe. Its a whole new game come playoff time and ive see many President Trophy winners bite the dust early. In my opinion, if Boston rolls Toronto, they will give the Bolts one hell of a fight... that's just the way they (Bruins) are.

I would tend to agree with you, Matty, but I also give a lot of credence to Will's opinion above.

The hot team in the postseason is the dangerous one. If Boston continues its hot streak, you add that to their postseason experience and the general cohesion of that team, and you see a contender. I very much agree that Tampa is the king on the mountain, and knocking them off looks outrageously difficult - because their roster is simply so complete and talented - but once we look past the roster, we start to see reasons why teams like Boston could do it.

That said, was really killer and predictable to see Florida give away another game in the last few seconds. If anyone has any loose defensemen, goalies, or fucking coaches, we'll be happy to take them while we watch the playoffs from home, again.

ya I cant believe the way the Panthers found a way to get 0 points last nice. Seem like Fla is so close to getting over the hump but just cant get there. We'll see though, plenty of good young talent. I think the Panthers should really focus on acquiring a young G this off season. In fact, the location gives them a leg up in the Panarin and Bobrovsky sweeps. Bob would be my #1 priority this off season. Luongo has been good but he's at the end.

we need a Hedman, Stamkos, Point, McDonagh, Vasilevsky and Kucherov injury. simultaneously would be nice

I was watching the end, Bs had the PP with 1:30 left in the game and didn't pull rask until 1 min left. That goal from the point went right under the crossbar, no chance for luongo.

and the OZ draw for Fla with something like 17 seconds left and they lose? the odds against that are astronomical.

I wasn't on the "coaching is a problem" train until these last few weeks. Team has given up too many of these games because they're just not making good decisions. They move the puck too slowly, and not to the right places. Guys who haven't had problems with that in the past are having problems with that now. The team is completely unable to set up in the offensive zone without the man advantage. There are good players on this team, and they are not being set up for success. It's very frustrating. I thought it would come with time, but... it just hasn't.

Goalie and D has been a problem for this organization since Tallon started his efforts. They have continually stocked the F cupboard, and left the others entirely bare. This kid, Montembeault - if he's not the savior, this team will have to sell the farm for a guy like Bobrovski. There's just no one else in the system. Meanwhile, it's the same story on D.

I think coaching can get us to an amenable position with the D (not good, just "do-able"). But goalie is going to require either a high-priced addition, or their prospect to become a sensation in short order.

It's a real bummer, because these are all problems that everyone saw coming... except management, apparently.

Losing Trocheck for half the season didn't help, either. I think they'd still be in it with him healthy. But I don't think it would've mattered - they're not a competitor this season.

not so fast on FLorida and a leg up for Panarin Matty.

if the Flyers offer draft picks for negotiation rights, then Florida is out. Flyers will have a ton of open cap space this summer and can easily afford Panarin. I think it will be a bidding war for his services rather than an easy one for any team.

  15. dlinebass5 M.V.P. Bears

I didn't see a single mention in there of Philly being active in pursuing him, or offering picks for rights (granted, I did just skim it really quickly, so correct me if I'm wrong). And any team can trade picks for rights - considering that FL just loaded up on 3rd or later draft picks, I'm sure they could spare one or more if they needed to.

For the record, I don't think Florida needs Panarin, nor do I think they will pay for him. But if they want him (and I won't argue), there's no reason why Philly has any better shot at him than FL.

Who has more cap space ? It says "it may be in Fletcher's best interest," so he didn't offer up picks yet. if he does and Columbus accepts then all teams are out except the Flyers. Now another team can outbid them with picks to trump the Flyers offer or bribe too. haha.

Sucks to be the Ducks, they have Perry for another two years after this season ($8.625M cap hit).

Remember when Rantanen was leading the league in points with 60? Don't look now, he's 22 points behind the Kuch.
