Well FTR, all I can say to that is, trust me, it was only an Island on this site...There's tons of Browns fans out there that look at this offense in the same light as I do. The only thing missing is a #1 WR, and it would be awesome to see Baker get that final piece...We'll see how it goes.

Plus, keep in mind, that is just an early prediction. Not the way I would necessarily do it. Not saying that I wouldn't do that. I like Christian a lot. It's just that we got a long way to go until draft day. I'm sure free agency will shed some light... I'm on record. If I'm gonna spend big in free agency, it's gonna be on the interior defensive line. So obviously, if they do that, Wilkins will no longer be my prediction...

Very good point. I think in either approach (addressing EDGE or IDL), Emmanuel can play the other position. They had him inside a ton last season - a lot of that out of necessity since there simply wasn't something else on the roster.

Honestly, unless it's an upgrade at RT, I don't think we have a pressing need at the position. Robinson is going to play on a one-year deal to make sure it wasn't a flash-in-the-pan season (his previous film would seem to indicate it was). You've got Harrison behind him who didn't impress but who the team - and HOF Joe Thomas - thinks highly of.

At safety, on the other hand, Damarious Randall is playing on the last year of his deal. We don't really have a great backup at the position (they used Briean Boddy-Calhoun).

I will be shocked if Randall doesn't sign an extension some time after training camp starts, but before the season starts. That said, they must identify a backup plan. God forbid, Randall goes down, we really don't have a good solution waiting.

I guess this is where we differ TD. I agree the offense is a #1 WR away from potentially being elite. Right now the defense has WAY TOO many holes especially at DT. The Browns only have one player of starting caliber and little to no depth behind Ogunjobi. So unless Dorsey signs 2-3 starting caliber DT's in FA I'm going to stick with Wilkins as my guy for this draft.

IMHO Until the Browns have a defensive front that can stop the run consistently it wont matter how if Baker has a #1 WR or not. Teams will just run the ball down our throats an chew up clock and keep the threat posed by the offense off the field. And we can all keep wishing we were playing for championships instead of winning them.

No team in the NFL has 4 starting caliber DTs on their team. If Dorsey could pull that off, we would either be THE elite team in the NFL or in cap hell...maybe both...

I agree 100% that, imho, DT is THE positional upgrade needed, close with CB, in order to help this team win more games in 2019 than they did in 2018. I don't think they need 3 players to do it though.

1 DT, whether it is via free agency or draft and 1 CB, whether via free agency or draft and this defense can help the team win games.

If you add 1-2 upgrades at LB, then they are ready to be elite and could possibly make a push to win playoff games instead of just setting a goal to get to the playoffs.

I can't totally agree here. I think Baker and Co. will average deep into the 20's in points in 2019, so if they are playing with a lead, that will take away the run for many teams, just as they took it away from us in the past.

This defense wasn't the worst in the league last year, close, but not the worst...and it isn't getting worse barring injuries. Some key pieces will help this defense improve enough to win some games, some big moves could propel this defense to another level worthy of helping the offense win playoff games.

Well if you believe this, than we don't disagree...I understand where the bigger team need lies. But let's just suggest for a second, that while scouting Mayfield last year, John Dorsey fell in love with Marquese Brown. What if he has him #3 overall, and he drops to us? Ya just never know. How many had Denzel Ward at #4 last year? I already mentioned that I agree 100% on team needs...

All I'm trying to suggest is, don't rule anything out. At least not yet. We aren't desperate anywhere. Dorsey should just take the best player, period....Now, I don't think we'll even get the chance, because KC will franchise tag him, but if we inked Dee Ford, I think we could probably assume we won't take an edge rusher early...

Is Rypien related to Rypien? That had to be one of the ugliest QBs I have ever seen, well him and Leftwiche.

True most teams don’t have 4-starting caliber DT’s on their roster. What I was trying to get at is that the Browns only have one with little to no depth. So even if Dorsey goes out and signs a DT in free agency; my guess is that it likely won’t be a long term deal. Even if he does sign a DT to a 3+year deal I’m still drafting one early. If Dorsey doesn't sign one in FA I'm looking to draft 2.

I doubt that Dorsey will get a chance at a guy like Grady Jarrett or Sheldon Richardson. (FWIW I’m avoiding Suh like the plague).

Until the Browns start winning games by 2-3 scores consistently we’ll have to agree to disagree here.

No but they were damn close. Regardless of how good we all believe Mayfield is/can be, as long as the defense keeps giving up the kinds of rushing yards/ game they did this year we’ll be watching OTHER TEAMS playing for Championships.
I keep going back to the BAL game at the end of the year. If the Browns D doesn’t give up close to 300-yds rushing and Baker isn’t playing from behind, making poor decisions, throwing costly INT’s, the Brown’s win, and we are that much closer to sweeping the division.

I also go back to the KC/NE AFC title game where NE had 170+yds and 4TDs on the ground. KC had just as an atrocious rush D as the Browns 132yds/game vs 135yds/game.

I don’t want to spend the next 10-15 years reliving the Heartaches of the 80’s when we didn’t get over that final hump.

    Except DT.

I agree that Dorsey shouldn’t draft out of need and take the BPA.

I don't think we are desperate. I really don't.....But as you know, I'd love to see us address DT pre-draft. We'll see....

I'd actually like to see them do both. Find a serviceable DT in FA and then Draft one for the long haul:ROCK:

Randall loves it here. Dorsey loves Randall. How does this not work out? I gotta believe we get this guy an extension.

This might be my favorite so far:

    Your Picks:
Round 1 Pick 12 (G.B.): Bosa, Nick, DE, Ohio State (A+)
Round 3 Pick 16: Love, Julian, CB, Notre Dame (A+)
Round 3 Pick 31: Ridley, Riley, WR, Georgia (A+)
Round 4 Pick 17: Campbell, Parris, WR, Ohio State (A+)
Round 5 Pick 6: Christmas, Demarcus, DT, Florida State (A+)
Round 5 Pick 17: Wise, Daniel, DT, Kansas (A+)
Round 5 Pick 35 (WASH): Smith, Cameron, ILB, Southern California (A+)
    Round 6 Pick 16: Pollard, Tony, WR/RB, Memphis (A+)
Round 6 Pick 33 (WASH): Bunting, Sean, CB, Central Michigan (A+)
    Round 7 Pick 7: Seibert, Austin, K, Oklahoma (A+)
Round 7 Pick 20: Kinnel, Tyree, FS, Michigan (A)

Not sure what the sim was running, but Bosa dropped out of the top 10..traded the #17 and #49 to move up to #12 for Bosa..lol, this is NEVER going to happen.
