That's an opinion, and you are certainly entitled to it...I'd still contend that the overwhelming majority would side with me on this hands down, the second that I mention those accomplishments, and the fact that he's in the HoF.
No, this is Ludacris.... To suggest team accomplishments make an individual player elite is ludicrous.
If you clicked over to google and poked around....you might find a lot of articles that question Namath's HOF enshrinement. https://bleacherreport.com/articles/416539-why-broadway-joe-should-not-be-in-the-hall-of-fame https://www.thesportster.com/footba...-belong-in-the-nfl-hall-of-fame-and-8-who-do/ https://www.yardbarker.com/nfl/arti...d_not_be_in_the_hall_of_fame/s1_6765_2851079? That doesn't prove he shouldn't be in.....but thinking this isn't a subject up for debate is wrong.
Damn you are slow...How many times have I said that you can argue all you want about whether or not he belongs in the HoF......That is not the point as far as I'm concerned...Was he or wasn't he an elite player???? There's no fucking way you can look at his long list of football accomplishments and say that he wasn't!!!! Jesus Christ. You guys both keep mentioning all the players that aren't in the HoF, that people like to argue for, as if I have something against them. lol! I AGREE! There are a lot of guys that SHOULD be in the HoF, but aren't....That just further bolsters my point on Namath. He IS in....One of just 26 SB era QB's to make it that far.
Relax lady. Most of your list is team accomplishments or voting that can be flawed. Making a Pro Bowl doesn't you elite...what if you were voted in over someone more worthy? Are you naive enough to say that never happens? Has every All Pro team every season really reflected the best of the best that year? Because again....players can get looked over....and over valued. These are not 100% objective awards and accolades. lol....k. That's not even a point. It's a blind, mindless statement meant to prove something you can't prove.
Strip away all team accomplishments and awards. Compare Namath only to his peers based on individual on field accomplishments. Then try to tell me he's elite. If you're honest with yourself and with me....you won't be able to do it.
Ahhhhh. Here we go. Letting that "Bears fan" reputation shine through...Nice. What's it's been, 3 pages of this nonsense? ...It's always a delight. So anyway tough guy. You lose...but here's your parting gift; This debate was seriously over before it started...
I'm flattered you thought it was a debate. In order for it to have been one....you would have had to bring something of substance to the table. You failed to do so. You had all your mindless crap thrown back in face because your logic is flawed. It was thoroughly explained to you why you were wrong and you simply ignored it and talked in circles. And to cap it off...you ignore my last post...which was this... And then declare yourself a "winner" and will promptly run away. You can't answer me on the above....because I've removed your only flawed argument....team accomplishments and awards. You have nothing after that. Namath's on field performance doesn't stand up against his peers. Anyone that bothers to look at them and then look at his peers can easily see that. Great "victory" on your part though. Well done.
"Stubborn and ardent clinging to one's opinion is the best proof of stupidity." - Michel de Montaigne
Thanks...I know. Try to lighten up. Seriously. Lose with some dignity...All the personal insults you bring to the table, do nothing but make you look foolish...
You realize this is a message board and no one actually wins or loses, yeah? Arbitrarily calling yourself a winner doesn't actually make you one. And in the end...what did you actually win? A pat on the back....from yourself? But thanks for admitting yet again you can't answer this..... Strip away all team accomplishments and awards. Compare Namath only to his peers based on individual on field accomplishments. Then try to tell me he's elite. You ignored it. Again. Because you can't refute it. See ya later, winner.
Oh I know. You've already declared over and over that the QB that won all those awards shouldn't get any credit for it, which I ignored because quite honestly it's the most absurd thing I've ever read in my life, in regards to football. We'll just push all of Joe Namath's MVP awards and titles aside and declare them "team accomplishments"....He's a quarterback, and we don't do that with any other QB. It's a complete joke, but whatever you need to bolster your case...This is mind numbing. You want me to compare him to his peers, on the basis of "on field accomplishments" but I can't point to the sum of those accomplishments - A.K.A. the Hardware?? lol! Completely ridiculous, but whatever. I'll continue this bludgeoning if you want... You do realize, I was born in 68, right?..lol! Just kidding. I know my NFL history. Don't get your panties in a bunch. I know humor escapes you completely. Namath played well into the 70's, but it's common knowledge that this game took it's toll on him physically and I've never argued that. Elite for a shorter period than other HoFr's, is still elite... So 1960's....Was he Bart Starr or Johnny Unitas? No...(though he did beat Johnny U in the SB. I know that doesn't count) As far as the rest of that decade, I believe I could easily argue Joe Namath #3 pro QB , and he only played in half of it. Case closed. Namath was elite. Thanks for playin... lol! Sorry, this is fun... Tarkenton might have a bit of an argument, but his best years came in the 70's on his second stint with Minnesota.... Tark never won any titles either. How many times have we heard that held against him? They also used to say the same thing about John Elway in the 80's. "He can't win the big one." ....This is how we define our QB's in this culture, and everybody knows that. But anyway, who else from 60's?, Len Dawson? Daryl Lamonica? George Blanda? Roman Gabreal? Just off top of my head. I'm not really going to dig into the books, because there is no need. I already know I can argue Namath against any QB from the 60's, outside of Bart and Johnny...You got a fave in mind? Bring him on... You simply can't point to this era of football, and make the determination that Joe Namath was not an elite player..It's total nonsense, but I know I'll get nowhere with this....So screw your meaningless hypothetical, and quite frankly, screw you, for all the lame insults. Joe's accomplishments count like every other quarterback...IDC if he wasn't the prettiest, or most accurate, or fastest or smartest or strongest. The guy got it done.... NFL Hall of Fame players are elite football players. Period. It doesn't matter how hard you try to make it seem otherwise. And you are as predictable as humanly possible, so before you even go there, just take the HoF away from Namath....He's still EASILY in the elite category based on his accomplishments. Yeah that's right, I'm talkin about the championships and league MVP's and all the trophies. You must have been one of those 70's people that got all offended when Joe put on the hose... That's all I can figure.
Uh, TD . . . Namath didn't beat Unitas in Super Bowl III. Earl Morral was the Colts starting QB. Unitas was coming off an injury and didn't play in the game until (I think) the 4th Qtr.
Uh Lym...I know. Earl got his ass kicked and they turned to Unitas...Johnny was actually responsible for their only score that day.
Must have been a pretty good Jets defense, eh? And the Colts' TD was a rushing TD not a pass from Unitas.
Must have been...Is that supposed to be a burn on me or something? Does that somehow mean Namath is undeserving of any credit for their SB win? Oh okay, I got it.. It was ALL the defense..... Same with Brady this year, I can only assume....He shouldn't even accept a ring for that. 17 points in modern era football? Inexcusable. What a bum... Thank god for the Patriots defense, bailing him out...
