Vikings could be moving Riley Reiff to guard...

The Vikings have spent plenty of money trying to fix their offensive line issues.

They just may not have spent it well.

According to Andrew Krammer of the Minneapolis Star-Tribune, the Vikings are considering moving left tackle Riley Reiff to guard.

The Vikings signed the former Lion to a five-year, $58.75 million contract in 2017, and he has struggled to live up to the expectations. He played through a foot injury last year which obviously didn’t help, but the 30-year-old struggled to protect their even-bigger investment at quarterback.

The 2017 tackle class as a whole wasn’t great, as the Panthers have some buyer’s remorse about former Viking Matt Kalil, whom Reiff was signed to replace.

The Vikings have a new offensive coordinator in Kevin Stefanski and an elder assistant head coach in Gary Kubiak (and possibly a new line coach/run game coordinator in Rick Dennison) so more changes could be coming. (PFT)

If he's still on the board when it's there time to pick hopes it's Cody Ford or Dalton Risner i'm cool with moving Riley Reiff cause Mike Remmers sucked at times he played like he could care less, when the draft comes around hope they go O-line llb D-line O-line,the more I think about it Kubiak might be a big help to the O-line

Why didn't the Vikings ever play Brett Jones? the sticking with Mike Remmers is a mystery to me

  7. Just get DC a tiny hole and he will take care of the rest....they absolutely should be targeting OL in the 1st round....it will help in both the run and pass game...Risner is very intriguing w his versatility

Stefon Diggs hopes Vikings fans will be patient...

The first year of the Kirk Cousins experiment didn’t go well, with the Vikings regressing from a final four team to one of the 20 franchises that watch the playoffs from home. In a recent visit to the PFT Live set at the Super Bowl, Vikings receiver Stefon Diggs was asked to make the case for patience to Vikings fans.

“First year,” Diggs said. “New system, new quarterback, new receivers. Everybody’s new. Still got to adjust, and you know there’s a lot of room for improvement. We’ve had a lot of sparks. We had some good games. Some things that you saw that we could be really special. And doing it on a consistent basis is something that’s going to come with time. You can’t look forward to time. It’s not working against us, it’s working with us.”

Time is the key word, in multiple respects. The Vikings need to improve their offensive line, in order to give Cousins more time to find open receivers. While Case Keenum had the ability to scramble away from pressure, buying time until a receiver popped open, Cousins never got far from the pocket because he can’t.

Then there’s the issue of Cousins’ performances in prime time and other big spots. The narrative has taken on a life of it own, and the best hope for the Vikings, frankly, will be to have as few night games as possible in 2019, something that is far more likely given the fact that the Vikings lost much of their luster in 2018.

At some point, however, Cousins will have to win a game that starts at night or otherwise carries with it some significant consequence. Last year, Cousins and the Vikings lost on a Thursday night to the Rams, a Sunday night to the Saints, a Sunday night to the Bears, and a Monday night to the Seahawks. Cousins and the Vikings also lost high-profile 4:25 p.m. ET games to the Patriots and Bears.

In fairness to quarterback and team, Minnesota won a Sunday night game against the Packers, and a 4:25 p.m. ET game at Philly. (In fairness to fairness, both of those teams were struggling at the time the Vikings played them.)

So that’s a record of 2-6 in games that mattered the most, and that’s not the kind of performance that will get the Vikings to the Super Bowl for the first time since 1976, or even remotely close to it. (PFT)

Patient is one thing but c'mon show me your ready for prime time, and the Vikings have to fix this mess of an O-line to give him some time...just have to wait and see

Keenum in purple can't see it any magic he had is gone, cause he was a flop with the Broncos it's Kyle Sloter turn to be the back-up

Time to move on from Treadwell he was a bust in minnesota,I would like them to sign D.Thomas to a one year contract cause he was coached by Kubiak he might get something out of him but just one year!

    Too much money for Thomas

  13. Badd_Man1 M.V.P. Vikings

How much money do you think to sign him or would the Vikings be better off getting a wideout in the draft

  14. They can find one later in draft....4th or 5th round can get u a player like Denzel Mims or Keelan Doss type WR

Just curious, the Browns have been eyeing a lot of first round "busts" since John Dorsey has taken over and been mildly successful with them. They signed Greg Robinson, who had busted out in St. Louis and Detroit, then looked like a first rounder the second half of last season when Cleveland picked him up off the street to try him as a backup right before training camp. Then they signed Breshad Perriman after he was cut by the Ravens, signed by the Redskins and subsequently cut 5 days later... similar to Robinson, he spent the first half of the season not playing at all, learning the system, etc... But the second half of the season he started to show the traits that made him a first round draft pick. Mind you, neither of these guys busted out and became pro bowlers and both could regress in 2019, but if the trend continues, I could see Dorsey looking at Treadwell as we need more receivers and being a former first rounder, he might just be interested.

Based on production, would you think a 6th rounder would seem about right?

A change of scene just might do Treadwell some good there wouldn't so much pressure on him 6th rounder sounds about right, the Vikings GM is always looking to get picks with the draft coming up
