Vegas better watch out 'cause they're headed to cap hell.

  4. firehalo Guest

Yeah. They'd have to move a big chunk of salary to go too deep in this game.

Vegas has some players locked in good deals, only thing I could see is if Max burns out and they're stuck with his deal.

they are why i don't know. they have a logjam of goalies in philly and although talbot is better than all of them currently, he makes twice as much money or more than all of them. no thanks. rumors are he is friends with carter hart and could be his mentor. send him an email of encouragement pal or flowers and candy, because you make too much money to be his mentor. hahaha.

heard the trade market for simmonds is down now. why i have no idea? he can produce and on a better team, im sure he will thrive.

fans were bashing toronto and all of their high price contracts last night. now they gotta move some people BUT they announced they will not trade Sandin, Liljegren or their first rd pick in 2020. ok Leafs then what the hell are you going to trade then ? something has to give in toronto, what i don't know?

Maybe they don't want him anymore.

doesnt mean philly has to take him ?

Maybe the leafs don't want simmonds.

boston does. fletcher must find a home for him bf the deadline. can't let him walk. rumors are simmonds wants a $6 mil per new deal. sorry but those days are over for him. not worth it.

Stolarz for Talbot, flyers break record with 8 goalies in a season.

Sometimes I wonder why a team would trade goalie for goalie, doesn't seem to be an upgrade for either team involved.

The oilers needed the cap space to make room for sekera who is coming back from injury. There's a connection between Talbot and Hart, they know each other and Hart considers him a mentor.
Stolarz is an RFA in july, he's 6"6, so they want to see how he looks. Talbot is a UFA in july, I think he could sign at a discount to be Harts backup.

Talbot also played D-1 at the Univ. of Alabama-Huntsville.

Not that this fact is in the least bit useful information.

I think skinny said it well; EDM absolutely had to find cap space, and soon. Philly could have a very nice, low cost tandem with Talbot & Hart next season.

stolarz is younger and cheaper. he could turn out to be very solid for the oilers. it worked out for Bob when he left Philly. Talbot is a buddy of Carter Hart's, so they solidified their goaltending the next 2 years. my 1 issue is his money. he made a lot more than stolarz did, so not happy about taking it on and it's a lot to pay for hart's mentor.

Well, they only have to pay the pro-rated amount of what's left on his contract. He becomes a UFA on July 1. I doubt that he'll get the same AAV on his next contract, not every team is as stupidly run as the Oil, (in fact I don't think any team is as stupidly run as EDM). Essentially, PHL gets a head start on talking to Talbot with the idea of signing him in July - that is if they find he actually is a good fit.

Let's say they get something done for 2 or 3 years in the $3MM AAV range. You add that to Hart's ELC and you have the potential for a very good tandem for less than the price of one starter. They're accumulating goalies in Philly and they aren't all going to stay. I think this gives them a chance to find a good foundation by sacrificing a prospect with potential, but that ultimately was not likely to be in their plans. Otherwise, I hear that Fletcher really tried to sell KGretz on Elliott instead of Stolarz. Maybe there really is a change happening in Edmonton.

Stolarz had two knee surgeries and missed all of 2017, any kind of sucessful comeback will be viewed as a miracle longshot.

he's looked damn good so far this past month. he's a large man for goalie standards, so if he can stay healthy, he could really help the oilers. Big IF!! 6'8 is massive though.

all solid points Dan. rumors are he will resign in Philly for lesser money. I'll take it. ANd Elliott for anything is a steal ! haha.
