Arizona will draft Nick Bosa who will transform the cardinals into a top 5 defense. David Johnson will return to form and be a top 5 rushing leader and scorer Bad team that missed playoffs this season but will make the playoffs next season: Arizona Cardinals combination of a top defense and return of Johnson to fill form will get them into the playoffs. Team that barely missed the playoffs and will make it next season: Pittsburgh Steelers some will call me a homer on this one but those who pay attention know I call the steelrs out all the time. After not getting a contract extension this off season Tomlin will feel the heat and will get this team into theplayoffs next season. It will not be enough to save him as they loose in the first round. The patriots will land antonio brown MVP: Tom Brady- the additon of brown will boost the patriots offense to levels similar to when moss was there allowing Brady to become mvp Patrick Mahomes will finish sec9nd in the mvp race and will not fall as far down as some people are hoping he will. Playoff team that will mix the playoffs next season: eagles and seahawks DPOY: Khalil Mack his second place finish this season will spur him to an even bigger season next year. Hot pick by everyone that will miss the playoffs: Cleveland Browns Comeback player of the year: Garappolo The raiders will miss the playoffs again next season and will again look lost most of the year. SB: patriots vs saints SB Winner: Patriots
Fact: Randy Moss has never won a Super Bowl Fact: Tom Brady has won 6 of them without Randy Moss Fact: Antonio Brown has never won a Super Bowl Fact: Steelers won their last Super Bowl 2 years prior to Brown, with the nucleus of the same team. They've only been back to the SB ONCE since Brown has been a Steeler and lost. The rest of that was just funny and entertaining...thanks Jeanquev
@IrishDawg42 , Re-read the title of the thread. He said these things are "sure to go wrong". (Meaning none of this shit will happen.)
OH, I know, that's why I thanked him for the entertaining post. I wasn't disputing anything, just adding some color commentary. Edit: Winning Super Bowls doesn't have anything to do with winning League MVP either
Yes he won without moss, and yes when he had moss he did not win one but that does not mean he would not like to toss balls in Browns dorection in an effort to win another one. No winning the SB has nothing to do with mvp but i dont think that i said it did mearly that Tom would win both next year.
I know, I agree. I wasn't arguing your post. The MVP/SB remark was to Lym letting him know I wasn't trying to make a comparison. My main point of conversation is that I believe it is 80% QB. If you've got a great one, you can win the big game. I am more convinced than ever that you don't have to find a top 5 WR to win the Super Bowl, as long as you have that top 4 QB. When you don't have the QB it takes A LOT more pieces to even be in contention to get to one.
Would you say that Michael Irvin was elite? Not being sarcastic. I'm really curious. He got a ring in 95 after Rice in 94. Harrison or Wayne in 06 perhaps.
Even if someone wants to call Irvin "elite , that was still about a quarter of a century ago. It would be far easier to name elite WR's who haven't won a Super Bowl in the past quarter century than to name one that did.
Yeah, jq has got it all covered here. lol! pretty slick... If it happens, he can say "called it." and if it doesn't happen, he can say "Told ya so." There were several that I believe he's right about, in the fact that he will be wrong, but none more so than this one obviously; We haven't even got to the Combine yet, and whispers of the Browns taking this division is already starting to get to them...
No doubt that's true. I'm just thinking about Jeans question. One of the things that I've always felt about winning it all is that 2 or 3 good receivers are more conducive to a championship team than one elite one. I would be curious to look at recent champs and see the balance between the pass distribution.
That's pretty generous. Would you consider either of them as consideration for HOF? Even if they don't make it, are they in the conversation? If not, I don't think you can call them elite.. They were both really good receivers at points of their careers, but very inconsistent.
Well, I guesss it comes down to a person's definition of elite. Sanders and Thomas had good years but IMO their career numbers don't qualify them as elite. They're certainly nowhere near Brown's numbers or someone like Julio Jones.
Harrison was one i thought about after saying Rice and I could not remeber if the cowboys had won one after the 49ers. I think irvin fits the criteria of elite. Harrison i could go either way but thomas and sanders are not even close.
Damn I didn't realize it was that bad. There were quite a few Giants fans who wanted to trade OBJ instead of paying the man because "you don't need an elite WR to win a SuperBowl." Last elite WR was Harrison if you call him elite... Plenty of really good WR's won but no one really "elite" in a long time. I'd like to point to Cruz/Nicks/Burress but they fall into the good category not the elite. Same with guys like hines Ward, Santonio Holmes, Julian Eddleman and Demarious Thomas. Any of the greatest show on turf guys count as elite?
Holt was definitly not elite the year they won the super bowl. He may have moved closer to that catagory afterwards but was not elite the year they won. Hard to classify either (holt or bruce) as elite being that niether led the team in receptions the year they won the super bowl.
