here's a gretzky stat that should end the debate:

fastest to 1000 points ? wayne gretzky in 424 games.

second fastest to 1000 points? wayne gretzky's other 1000 points in 433 games, so as he aged, his pt production didn't slow down. gretzky was 6 goals away from 900 and less than 400 pts away from 3000 !

    mario to 1000 pts -- 513 games.

Can you name the team that's won only one cup in 79 years?

  3. Catfish Guest

hmm. sounds like a trick question...the Rangers?

the original 6 teams all won more than 1 Cup, and after the expansion took place, that's not 79 years, so im confused. it's also monday morning, which could be why im confused. or just tired. or just old.

    Yes, the rangers.

    1941 to 2019 1 cup

    but wait, they won in 1994, so it's 1940-1994 - 54 years ?

  6. skinny123 Guest

The year after they won the cup (1941) until today, 1 cup.

  7. skinny123 Guest

Simple, they've won two cups in 80 years and one in 79 years.

I'm confused. If the question had asked for who won one Cup in 78 years the answer would easily be the Rags. But within the past 79 years the NYR have won in 1941 and in 1994, for two SC's. The answer, based on how the question was posed, would be based on teams that won only once since 1940. It also implies that the team existed 79 years ago.

So the correct answer is: There is no correct answer.

True, 1 cup in 78 years and two in 79.

Thanks to Dave Maloney who works for the blueskirts MSG. He kept repeating, 1 cup in 79 years in his interview on leafs radio.

glad im not the only one confused here. hahahaha

Dan and Skinny, I just checked, the Rangers didn't win in 1941, they won in 1940.

    Per Wikipedia:
1940 New York Rangers (6, 3–3) Frank Boucher 4–2 Toronto Maple Leafs (9, 3–6) Dick Irvin Bryan Hextall (2:07, OT)

If you could clone five Gretzkys and five Orrs and you made two teams, G vs Orr, who would win?

There is the correct answer right there........"Leafs Radio"......lol

Rangers beat the Canucks in 94 in 7 ......and Mark Messier should have been suspended.

the Gretzky's would outscore the Orr's.

  17. Catfish Guest

    why ????

  18. skinny123 Guest

You sure, who plays D for the gretzkys, because the Orrs do both well, score and defend.

  19. Catfish Guest

if gretzky scored 894 goals and over 2600 points, think about what 5 of them could do on the ice at the same time with the same mind ?

  20. skinny123 Guest

A good defense always wins over a good offense. A good offense will destroy a weak D.
