Bjugstad is big, versatile as in plays center and wing and the guy is a good face off winner. I think also this is a good trade for the Penguins. Righty shot too.

Despite winning the Presidents’ Trophy last season, the Nashville Predators were bounced from the playoffs by the Winnipeg Jets in the second round. As good as their regular season was, the year, as a whole, was a disappointment. Well, general manager David Poile wants to make sure that doesn’t happen again.

On Wednesday, the Predators acquired veteran forward Brian Boyle from the New Jersey Devils in exchange for a second-round pick in 2019.

He’s scheduled to become an unrestricted free agent at the end of this season.

Fletcher says due to the winning steak he has to reconsider his stance on being a seller at the deadline. :wall:

You have to do whatever makes the most sense.

to me Simmonds has a ton of value to contending teams and could bring back a lot in a trade. he is no longer a part of the core of the team. his loss would not cripple the team at all. the assets the flyers get for him can only help the team in the long-run. that makes the most sense to me, but what do i know ?

If you're gunning for the playoffs, simmonds is just the guy you need.

I have to agree with Skinny's assessment. I want Simmonds on my side come playoff time... he's a bull out there when he wants to be and a solid wear em down hitter.

I would want Simmonds for the now but no part of a 3+ year deal after this season and thats what he's gonna get.

who said that? if Boston, for example, got him tomorrow, are they tied into a 3 year deal ? not necessarily. the players always want more years etc, but the owner and GM has some power in negotiating terms and contract details.

he hasn't been for a few years skinny. he's a shell of himself. her should be like the 1980's tim kerr. stay in front of the net and pick up garbage goals. he doesn't do it. he thinks he can skate with faster players and he gets stuck chasing them around the rink. he needs to plant his fat ass in front of the goalie and pick up the trash thrown his way.

key words "WHEN HE WANTS TO BE?"

he's very hot and cold and plays when he wants. he's not a young kid anymore giving 100% every shift or every night. no idea why you guys love him so much. i watch his ass every night and he's getting worse, not better.

Sources from here are saying he's playing real good lately. If Simmonds could be on his game during a playoff run, it's a huge boost to any team that gets him and more importantly tonthe flyers if they decide to keep him.

SKINNY-Come on my man. If he stays with the Flyers, he and the team, has an uphill climb to try and make the postseason. not a guarantee. he goes to Boston and he's on a better team, better line and locked in for the playoffs. Huge difference I don't think you or Will are seeing. His value is elsewhere for both parties. If he stays, the team gets no assets in a trade and he walks this summer and they get zilch ! Not a good business decision !

Try convincing that to the fans who are paying $300 for a playoff ticket. Lets say the flyers trade him for a pick or prospect and then make the playoffs. If they lose in the first round in 5 games, the fans will lose their shit, especially if Simmonds is off helping oit another team make it through, lose their shit!

Flyers tix prices have fallen off the face of the planet. game day lower level with a face value of $169.99 are going for less than $95 dollars. Playoff tickets are not $300 in philly and i've been to plenty of playoff games.

i think they get more than a pick or prospect for him. the right team in need will pay a little more than that. they are losing in 5 games with or without him. they did last year and haven't won a playoff series in the first rd in 6-7 staggering years. simmonds at his current age and production, isn't changing that stat. many philly athletes have left town in mid-year or as FA and won the title their first year in a new city and team. it sucks, but those teams won the title because they were a lot better than the philly team they left when they did. that's being dead honest.

hey - i don't control the team or make moves. i'd be fired inside of a day. haha. i think simmonds is not the make or break player he used to be and isn't leading this team to the cup. i just think he has a strong trade value - that's all.
