how can Toronto possibly keep JT $11, Matthews $XX, Marner $X??, and Nylander$6.96. youre looking at roughly half your cap ($40m) on 4 Fs and then also Marleau and Kadri coming at $10.75 combined, maybe move both out for super cheap contracts? otherwise you only have roughly $30m for everyone else- 6Fs, 6D, 2G and a couple depth players. Lucky to have Reilly and Freddie on very team friendly deals.

yeah it's 8 wins, not 7. They won that game for 1 reason - the future - Carter Hart. His sprawling save with 5 min left was the game. It could've easily been 3-2 Vancouver in the 2nd period. Hart was huge last night. Flyers got out shot by a lot too. Vancouver should've won that game. Flyers still need a trade or 3 to tighten the roster. If you wanna make a insane run to the post-season, you gotta make a trade or 3 to solidify the roster. Pittsburgh is trading and rumors are Florida is getting Bobrovsky. Can't sit back now.

They said last night the Flyers are the first team outside of the original 6 to 2000 wins. Pretty impressive.

 

The Flyers were positioning themselves to be in the Hughes sweepstakes and they go on a winning streak. They cant even tank properly.

exactly my point. 8 wins or not, they can't beat a team in the playoffs, so after 4 months of losing, why now make a push to the playoffs ?

i've read that hughes may not be the best player in this draft and he's not a generational talent like crosby or mcdavid. so? they need all the help they can get. then i read due to the new lottery rules, finishing dead last is no guarantee to be #1. well winning 8 in a row is not helping matters much.

8 for the team, Will. and you ask me a freaking question and then get all pissed at my answer., when you somehow predict it's coming. i don't understand you. if you know my answer - why ask the question ? you know im down on the flyers this season, so why ask me about any positive things when i want half the team traded ??

i've been saying tank for 3 months. now winning 8 in a row and getting 16 straight points has taken them out of the basement and into "possible and remote" contention for a playoff spot. so if they make it, can this team beat anyone in the playoffs? looking at the current roster - no they can't ! if they make some trades - maybe they can, but before this winning streak, they were in the basement almost all season long. seems like a waste to do all of that and lose in 5 or 6 games in round 1 AGAIN! and if Hughes was a generational talent like McDavid or Crosby, you bet your ass i would want them to tank and lose every damn game. Flyers haven't had their premier kind of marque player since Eric Lindros. that was a long ass time ago.

YAHOO BUCKAROO .............well said by Will......this has been a HUGE argument that I was against in Vancouver for the last 3 years.......(TANK and get a HIGH draft pick)......that stupid Lottery the best the Canucks did was 5th overall........albeit we got EP 40.......I totally agree with Will.....

whether it's tanking or losing often, the Flyers until this streak and the emergence of Carter Hart, they were doing it often ! i see don't see this team beating anyone in the playoffs this year. so whether they lose a lot from now till April or tank and lose on purpose, Hughes is farther and farther away from them.

and it's not like I control the damn team VV and Will. Just because I WANT THEM TO LOSE doesn't mean they are listening to me and losing on purpose. So don't blame me if they win the next 10 in a row or lose 20 in a row. I don't control them.

 

Players don't intentionally tank, they're pros and play to survive, they don't care about the team in 5 years, they play for themselves.

Further more , the damn Flyers believe in themselves. They are out to win, everyone of them. You can do and think what you will, I was just having a conversation. I don't get pissed about anything you say... I don't agree with it either, but whatever.

 

Management can decide to unload remaining high end talent at the trade deadline, or shut down a goal scorer like Lou did with JVR, also ahut down Reimer. The players left over are just not good enough and they lose out.

 

you seem awfully interested in the flyers and my take on them. why i have no idea. just worry about the red wings.

#5 I disagree with the whole notion of tanking... its not in my DNA to ever tank, no matter what position I would have with a team, either a player or in management... that's my 0.02.

 

Shanahan was brought in to see over a rebuild, call it tanking or a rebuild, it was smart management.
