I figured we might as well have a thread specific to the many mock draft attempts and bold predictions... Here's what we got to work with as it stands now: 2019 Cleveland Browns draft picks Round 1: Cleveland Round 2: Cleveland Round 3: Cleveland, New England Round 4: Cleveland Round 5: Cleveland, Jacksonville, New England Round 6: Cleveland Round 7: San Francisco*, Jacksonville* Cleveland is 17th in the draft order....We have extra 3rd and 5th rounders from New England, and extra 5th and 7th rounders from Jacksonville. Feel free to list your mocks or predictions here...Nothing is etched in stone. I realize many things can and will change our perspectives as we get closer to draft day. I'm sometimes guilty of putting too much value on The Combine performance.... Gonna try to work on that. I actually posted my first Mock about a week ago. All I can recall is that I had D.K. Metcalf at the top....So I'll go ahead and make my first bold prediction. The Browns will grab an elite weapon for Baker and pick a WR in rd 1...
FTR; i think 17th is a great spot for the Browns. Though it's tough to predict who will still be available. In the G.M.O last year I picked from that spot with the Chargers and had what I thought was one of my best drafts. Somehow came out of there with Denzel Ward , which was a great start. As far as the Browns draft goes this year, I think it's truly wide open. Very difficult to predict. They don't have that "glaring" need that stands out like a sore thumb, as per usual... One thing is certain. We have plenty to speculate on.....I love draft season. Here's where many of the talking heads and publications see us going in round one: Browns picks at #17: USA TODAY - Christian Wilkins, DT - Clemson KIPER- Jeffrey Simmons, DT - Miss St ZEUERLINE- Devin White, LB - LSU BROOKS- Jonah Williams, OT - Bama JEREMIAH- Andre Dillard, OT - Wash St. KIPER- Jefferey Simmons, DT - Miss St MCSHAY- D.K. Metcalf, WR - Ole Miss DRAFTWIRE- Marquis Brown, WR - Okla BRANDT- D.K. Metcalf, WR - Ole Miss SPORTTEK- Montez Sweat, EDGE - Miss St CLUTCH- Jachai Polite, DE - Florida
Quarterback is always a need for the Browns. Start there. Oh never mind, you guys might have your QB.
In the spirit of things, feel free to post Super Bowl predictions here as well.... I've had Rams from preseason, so gotta stick with them; RAMS 34, PATS 29 MVP - JARED GOFF
Not Browns related, but I can't leave this off the thread. Don't remember where I posted it, but my first bold prediction for this season came right after the Buckeyes put 62 on the nations "best" defense: The top 2 picks of this years draft will both be from Ohio State...
Just ran a quick mock on Fanspeak. I tried to pick players +/- 15 slots of the slot I was in. 17: R1P17 DL ED OLIVER HOUSTON 49: R2P17 EDGE D'ANDRE WALKER GEORGIA 80: R3P16 WR ANDY ISABELLA UMASS 94: R3P30 WR HAKEEM BUTLER IOWA STATE 119: R4P17 TE JACE STERNBERGER TEXAS A&M 145: R5P6 OT ISAIAH PRINCE OHIO STATE 156: R5P17 S MIKE EDWARDS KENTUCKY 170: R5P31 CB MICHAEL JACKSON MIAMI 191: R6P16 EDGE BYRON COWART MARYLAND 223: R7P7 CB DAVID LONG MICHIGAN 245: R7P29 LB KHALIL HODGE
Nice. I've never done that before...Pretty cool; 17: R1P17 WR D.K. METCALF OLE MISS 49: R2P17 CB DEANDRE BAKER GEORGIA 80: R3P16 CB ROCK YA-SIN TEMPLE 94: R3P30 DL MARQUISE COPELAND CINCINNATI 119: R4P17 DL CHARLES OMENIHU TEXAS 145: R5P6 QB CLAYTON THORSON NORTHWESTERN 156: R5P17 RB BRYCE LOVE STANFORD 170: R5P31 WR PARRIS CAMPBELL OHIO STATE 191: R6P16 OT MAX SCHARPING NORTHERN ILLINOIS 223: R7P7 S JORDAN FULLER OHIO ST 245: R7P29 LB MICHAEL PINCKNEY MIAMI (FL) Wasn't expecting either of those early round CB's to be there, and I couldn't pass either up....That was fun. I love where I got Parris Campbell too, and my D-line reinforcements...Yeah, pretty sure I'll take that draft all day.
Okay, I did the first mock on "Classic" setting, so I switched to a different "big board" and moved the setting to "difficult"...Here's what I got: 17: R1P17 DL ED OLIVER HOUSTON 49: R2P17 WR D.K. METCALF MISSISSIPPI 80: R3P16 CB KENDALL SHEFFIELD OHIO STATE 94: R3P30 LB VOSEAN JOSEPH FLORIDA 119: R4P17 EDGE CHARLES OMENIHU TEXAS 145: R5P6 OT MITCH HYATT CLEMSON 156: R5P17 QB WILL GRIER WEST VIRGINIA 170: R5P31 TE CALEB WILSON UCLA 191: R6P16 WR DAMARKUS LODGE MISSISSIPPI I think more depends on what "big board" ya use, rather than the setting....Cool site though.
I did a few this weekend to kill some time and had some pretty interesting results. Each time I was trying to let Rock Ya-Sin fall to me in the 3rd but it never happened. If I have time I will put the results up on here.
Receivers? Nope... Top 5 unit. Quarterback? Nope... Top 5 quarterback. Running backs? Nope. #1 overall running back. Offensive line? Nope. #2 offensive line in the NFL. So... what is the weakness? A: Defensive line. Browns' 2018 defense... 5th in the NFL in rushing yards allowed 2nd in the NFL in rushing touchdowns allowed 2nd in the NFL in rushing first downs allowed 25th in DVOA against the run (7th in DVOA against the pass) Conclusion: Browns draft Dre'Mont Jones (DT, Ohio State) with #17 overall.
Its kinda crazy seeing the player rankings going between big boards for the fanspeak mocks. When I do them, I am not drafting solely on my player rankings, but on close enough players for the perceived value. Heres a couple more: R1P17 WR DK Metcalf R2P17 CB Deandre Baker R3P16 LB Khalil Hodge R3P31 C Elgton Jenkins R4P17 LB Tre Lamar R5P6 DL Raequan Williams R5P17 DL Youhanna Ghaifan R5P31 LB Devin Bush R6P6 S Ugo Amadi R7P7 WE Emmanuel Butler R7P29 TE Jace Stoneberger R1P17 DL Rashan Gary R2P17 LB Mack Wilson R3P16 CB Amani Oruwariye R3P31 CB Kendall Sheffield R4P17 WR Hakeen Butler R5P6 Edge Ben Banogu R5P17 OT Dennis Daley R5P31 TE Dax Raymond R6P6 WR Anthony Ratliff-Williams R7P7 RB James Williams R7P29 LB Jamal Davis II R1P17 CB Byron Murhpy R2P17 LB TJ Edwards R3P16 WR Hakeen Butler R3P31 DL Marquise Copeland R4P17 DL Raequan Williams R5P6 LB Jordan Jones R5P17 S Brandon Jones R5P31 WR Andy Isabella R6P6 CB Myles Bryant R7P7 Edge Malik Reed R7P29 TE Zach Gentry FULL SIM: R1P17 CB Greedy Williams R2P17 C Dalton Risner R3P16 DL Isaiah Buggs R3P31 OT Nate Davis R4P17 Edge Landis Durham R5P6 RB Mike Weber R5P17 LB Terrell Hanks R5P31 WR Jalen Hurd R6P6 Edge Shareef Miller R7P7 S Amani Hooker R7P29 TE Tommy Sweeney
Here's one I could live with; CB GREEDY WILLIAMS LSU 49: R2P17 WR DEEBO SAMUEL SOUTH CAROLINA 80: R3P16 C GARRETT BRADBURY NORTH CAROLINA STATE 95: R3P31 LB VOSEAN JOSEPH FLORIDA 119: R4P17 DL KEKE KINGSLEY TEXAS A&M 145: R5P6 WR TERRY MCLAURIN OHIO STATE 156: R5P17 EDGE MAXX CROSBY EASTERN MICHIGAN 171: R5P32 RB JUSTICE HILL OKLAHOMA STATE 191: R6P16 TE FOSTER MOREAU LSU 223: R7P7 QB GARDNER MINSHEW II WASHINGTON STATE 245: R7P29 FB ALEC INGOLD WISCONSIN
Your score is: 30591 (GRADE: A) Your Picks: Round 1 Pick 17: Simmons, Jeffery, DT, Mississippi State (A+) Round 2 Pick 17: Love, Julian, CB, Notre Dame (A-) Round 3 Pick 16: Campbell, Parris, WR, Ohio State (A+) Round 3 Pick 30: Hodge, Kalhil, ILB, Buffalo (A+) Round 4 Pick 17: McGary, Kaleb, OT, Washington (A+) Round 5 Pick 6: Joseph, Vosean, OLB, Florida (A+) Round 5 Pick 17: Wingard, Andrew, SS, Wyoming (A+) Round 5 Pick 31: Miller, Shareef, DE, Penn State (A) Round 6 Pick 16: Love, Bryce, RB, Stanford (A+) Round 7 Pick 7: Renfrow, Hunter, WR, Clemson (A+) Round 7 Pick 20: Seibert, Austin, K, Oklahoma (A+) First thought...No possibility Parris Campbell is still there in the 3rd round..almost took him in the second, but need crept in and I took the best CB available due to the fact there were so many taken in this mock, he was the last one I would consider having starter talent. When healthy Love is a very good CB, but has battled annoying injuries. Loved getting Hodge with the second 3rd round pick. I kind of liked this draft...
It's a little more than like, if you have two guys named Love...lol! I'm assuming, like me (as I just explained on another thread)you didn't know about Jeffrey Simmons' 2016 assault charge for hitting a woman.... https://www.clarionledger.com/story.../msu-signee-jeffery-simmons-charges/82344844/
ID, where was your mock done? I didn't notice a grading system on fanspeak when I completed my mocks.
Not sure about this, but I wasn't trying to be a wise guy...After researching Simmons I had just posted on another thread about how it almost seems like it's automatically assumed that John Dorsey will be okay with whatever "red flagged" character comes down the road...There are rumors all over that the Browns are set on this guy.
