Looking forward to 2019, Browns NFL Rookie Draft

I'll admit that there isn't one I rate as high as I had Corey Davis, but I think there are a couple in that ballpark, and maybe a handful that would be expected to start immediately in Cleveland. After that, other than some situational specialists I really like, I don't see much that would stand out above and beyond what we already have on the roster. (That's assuming we retain Higgins and Perriman)...

Of the non 1st rounders, I am very interested to see where Andy Isabella winds up. We don't have a receiver like him.... I could see Andy working very well with Baker Mayfield, and becoming a real 3rd down terror.....And I could easily see us taking a guy like Terry McLaurin. Solid, productive, grinder that does everything well. He's also probably the best special teams gunner in the draft.

Many ways for the Browns to go. I wish we knew the free agency plan...lol!

Just for the hell of it, this is the 2019 opponents for the Browns...

I think its a 11-5 to 10-6 season if team remains healthy, of course.

Forgive me if this was covered earlier as I didn't back read to extensively.

Just wanted to chime in and wish you guy's good luck. I've enjoyed what I've seen here and personally, I am looking forward to this up-coming Browns season also.

I can't wait to see when the schedules come out...Hopefully they treat the Browns well and give us a few primetime games for a change. I'm expecting it.

    Thanks, TD!

I don't normally make predictions, but when I saw the list of opponents on 'FootballReference.com, at first glance, I thought to myself, this team is going to make some noise.

Side note: I have a friend that moved out to Scottsdale Arizona a few years back, and he's already promised me a pair of tickets to come out for the Browns game this year. That will be a lot of fun. I can't wait to see what date they put the Cardinals game on the schedule. Hopefully in November or December. lol! I've been to stadiums in Ohio, PA, LA., Cali, and Florida. Would love to someday see them all. I've driven through parts of Arizona, but never spent any time there. Lookin forward to that next football season..

lol! No worries. I do it all the time...It's just the same group of Browns fans, and some stragglers here and there, that rotate conversations around these threads anyway.

LOL... No he's not the ONLY WR I like in this draft. He's one name that hasn't been tossed around yet as a guy the Browns could take with #49. I agree that he's not going to burn opponents up with his speed, I do think he's the best in this class at contested catches. I tend to agree with some of the comparisons to Mike Evans. Not a guy that is going to burn you with speed, but get it done in every other way possible.

Hakeem Butler and K'Neal Harry are a couple guys that could slide into the second round, that would intrigue me. Beyond that I really haven't gone into much depth with WR.

I'm more concerned about that 130+yd/ game rushing against the D than the offenses ability to find open WR and move the ball and score TD's. Although I'm not mainlining the Baker kool-aid, I have faith that Dorsey did pick the right QB for this team. I think at this point with a full 16 games and the WR group already on the roster. Baker will still get to the 40 TD mark next year. I just don't see the Browns making serious playoff runs until they can plug the middle of that porous Defense.

I'm waiting for the schedule as well. I'm tentatively planning to go watch them in Denver.:rally:

I wonder why we have to play them out there again? Seems like that one should have been rotated to Cleveland this year...

Oh well. It'll be fun watching them silence the Broncos again...

I recall an article I read some time ago that dealt with how the NFL actually puts together the league schedule each year. The teams are determined via a rather simple process. However, which team plays at home or away on a given week is often determined by what other events are already scheduled to be held at the various stadiums. In the Browns case, this isn't normally a factor as First Energy Stadium is virtually exclusive to the Browns during the course of a given season. But a lot of the other 31 venues aren't quite so cut and dried.

Agreed and to see it live will be even better. Not sure what tickets will cost yet, but have a possible in through my Brother with a season ticket holder that may let me get them at face value.

Agreed, Odell would cost 35.5M against the cap for the Giants to trade him without any means of relief. It's not happening.

I would welcome them smoothing it out but AB is going to cost 22M on the roster, 23 million off the roster. That extra million won't deter them if they think it's time to move on.

That's right Lym, except it's only for two games...The other 14 are preset, you play the other 3 teams home and away (6 games) Then they play a rotational 4 year schedule using the other divisions, last year was NFC South and AFC West...4 years ago, we hosted the Broncos, this past season they hosted us...in four years, we will host them, etc...

Then the last 2 games are two in conference teams that finished in the same spot of their respective division. The Divisions are predetermined on a rotational basis, this season it's the AFC West and AFC South for us. The Browns and Broncos each finished 3rd in their division, so they play each other...These 2 games are subject to what you are talking about Lym...however, I didn't even know they had determined the home/away of those two games yet.

They actually use a large number of computers and after plugging in all scheduling conflicts, the computers then spit out all the options available(which is a lot of freaking schedule possibilities even with schedule conflicts), then they have the tedious task of actually picking which schedule they prefer based on what they feel will happen in any given season to hopefully ensure they have several high profile options each week to showcase.

Sorry, Irish but venue scheduling conflicts apply to all 17 weeks of the NFL season - not just to the two "same finish" games. Again, we dont see it here as the Browns' home stadium is basically exclusively used for the Browns. Of the other 31 teams, two currently share a home stadium (with another two soon to share one in Los Angeles). Some stadiums are also used for December college Bowl games, High School state playoff games, concerts, FIFA soccer games, etc.

I don't believe that to be correct Lym, I could be wrong and don't have time to find it right now..But the 14 game schedule home and away is predetermined from now until the divisions are changed for some reason. The only thing that is not determined at this point for these 14 games on the NFL schedule is in what week those games are played. The two remaining games are predetermined in respect to what division plays whom each year, but are flexible if I'm not mistaken as to which ones are scheduled home and away.

I agree the venue conflicts apply to all 17 weeks of the year, but it doesn't change the fact that the home and away opponents are predetermined...a conflicting week simply won't carry a home game.

I will correct one thing I said in my previous post, with only 3 other divisions in the AFC, the Browns will rotate AFC teams every 3 years, not 4 like they do in the NFC.

However, you can look up any given year and know what 7 teams will be playing in Cleveland, you would only have to wait A) to find out who the 8th team will be after the season and B) what week they will schedule each of those 8 teams. In other words the Broncos will not play in Cleveland in back to back 3 year rotation...the only way for repeat visits to stadiums is through the like placement process for the final two games of the schedule.

You guys are saying the same thing. Lym is just suggesting that one factor in how they figure out "in what week those games are played" is stadium events outside of the NFL.
