well 500 hrs is the magic #. im sure they're other reasons why mcgriff is not in the hof. his stats are better than many hof players. some of his totals were much higher than i thought. he's a mystery to why the voters didn't vote for him.

Santo was before my time. I know little about him except for some small pieces of information, but all of it leads to the hof. Sad he died before he saw enshrinement. the Sportswriters didn't like Richie Ashburn for the same reasons as Dick Allen and Santo and they held him out of the hall for 30+ yrs. he finally got in with the greatest Phillie ever-Mike Schmidt. It would've been a Phillies trifecta if Carlton retired with them but he quit 1 yr before or after they did.

I was born in California and the very first sports event I ever saw or can remember was a Vikings and Rams game... probably around the age of 4, lol. I saw those 'horned' helmets crashing into each other in the trenches and was immediately hooked on football, especially those Vikings. Love at first sight, to be honest.

Moved to Toledo, Ohio at an early age and discovered the Red Wings and Tigers. All ready in love with the Vikings, I never thought of switching teams as my favorite. Ive been a Vikings, Red Wings and Tigers lifer.

The Reds are my favorite National League team... ive been to the old River Front Stadium a hundred times. Seen Pete, Joe Morgan and Johnny Bench, Davey Concepcion and all of the 'Big Red Machine', back in the day.

But when it comes to football... its Vikings or nothing.

Saw the Indians a bunch of times to. I'll never forget that old football stadium they played in. I sat in right field one day... it was the Tribe vs the Yankees. Standing right in front of me the whole game, as my jaw dropped, was Reggie Jackson. That was fun to.

Riverfront was a good place to see a game. I like their new stadium a lot though.

My son is taking the entire summer off to visit every ballpark in baseball this coming season. Most of it is already bought and paid for.

It made me sit down and write down how many ballparks I've been to and I think the number is 22....including 6 ballparks that are gone now.

I really miss the ol' Tigers Stadium... man the memories there i'll never ever forget. It was very personable.

Good for your son, that sounds like a blast. Wish I could do something like that. Ive been to just 4 MLB parks.

Dammitt! Spring cant get here fast enough!

My nephew, Dalton and his friend go to Chicago quite regularly and watch the Blackhawks at United and the Cubs at Wriggly... im still pissed I havnt been invited, lol. Punk kids!

Old Tigers Stadium is one of the 6 I've been to that are gone.

Along with Old Comiskey, I'm a lifelong Cubs fan but that was a great ballpark, Riverfront, Three Rivers, the Astrodome, and Shea.

I was in Candlestick but for a football game.

Baseball stadiums-Vet Stadium, Citizens Bank Park, the old Yankee Stadium, Wrigley Field, Fenway Park, Camden Yards, Nationals Stadium, the old Turner Field and where the Mets play now - Citi Field.

Pro and College Football-Vet Stadium, the Linc, MetLife Field, Heinz Field, Tampa's stadium, Lambeau Field. FedEx Field, and Notre Dame Stadium.

Pro and college Basketball-the Spectrum, the Wells Fargo Center and the old Chicago Stadium and the Palestra.

Hockey-the Spectrum, the Wells Fargo Center, the United Center and Joe Louis Arena.

Been to Enron Field and now it's called Minute Maid Park, but no sports were playing there. I was in Houston in February for a wedding and they have a restaurant open in the stadium in the off-season, so we had lunch there. Kind of eerie to see an entire stadium empty.

My buddy played pro soccer, so i was on the field with him shooting soccer balls at the old Meadowlands. haha.

I believe the main reason Fred didn't get in, is because while he was near the top in many categories over those years, he NEVER was considered one of the best first basemen in the league at that time. He always had Frank Thomas, Jim Thome, Mark McGuire, Jeff Bagwell, Raphael Palmeiro, and Will Clark ahead of him.

I liked McGriff, but he always fell into the Hall of the very good for me.

Hard to argue really. Except for Clark....McGriff was better than Clark. Probably better than Bagwell too.

Bagwell was significantly better than McGriff.

    I don’t agree.

And Bagwell had a needle in his ass...McGriff didn’t.

No proof of either.(other than Bagwell openly taking andro before it was banned)

Bagwell was a better hitter, better defender, and better baserunner. The only thing McGriff was better at than Bagwell was nicknames.

Well there is proof that McGriff was clean. Like Frank Thomas is pretty much 100% accepted by everyone in and around the game that he was clean. McGriff used to get teased by teammates for never hitting the gym. He was known to eat candy bars before games. The guy definitely didn't juice.

Bagwell on the other hand...played for an organization that was a known hotbed for PED use. Couple that with the fact that his workout buddy was Ken Caminiti...pictures of Bagwell as a young minor leaguer versus the body he had in the mid to late 90s...and then take a look at him now....it's basically all the tell tale signs of someone that was using a lot more than wheaties.

Bagwell's numbers are ahead of McGriff's but not at a margin that makes me say he was significantly better....and I'd take a risk and say without juice...Bagwell doesn't have those numbers. So if Bagwell is a HOF player...then McGriff should be too.
