I think a strong shut down D is more valuable at 29. He knows exactly what he's doing and where to be positionally at all times. His hockey iq and awareness is in peak form. Also his SC ring and playoff experience will be very valuable. He's also from Ontario so re-signing him could be easier.

Added cap burden to a team that will need cash to re-sign current roster, as well. Going all-in.

I think Leafs fans can have a lot to be happy about here. I just think it was expensive to buy what they got. If it helps them go deep in the playoffs and Muzzin contributes to that, then it would be absolutely worth the price.

I still believe Boston matches up too well against them, and that TB is just much better. Of course there's plenty of time for them to make another move.

I like the size of Boston and TB. They seem to have the lineup that will punish the opponent in a playoff series. More teams should follow this example and I see it now in Detroit with some of the prospects being over 6' and 200lbs. Seem to be a trend towards speed on some teams and a trend towards punishing, hard checking on others... I see the big guy's winning more Cups.

sold ! ghost is not having a good year and somehow got hurt in the pre-skate last night. he's done to me. ship his ass out too.

Haha, giving up on him too quick.

he regresses too much and i have never seen a NHL defense men miss the net from a top of the point slapshot in my life more than ghost. he not only misses the net but players are ducking their heads out of the way the shot is either super high or just wide. he has regressed too much, is a liability, but still worth something. sell high and that's what im doing.

He's coming off a 65 point season, has a good cap hit at $4.5M until 2023. This would be real easy to trade.

  11. Good Luck Skinny with Muzzin...........he is good and will help.......BUT sorry for the Pun but I think the Leafs paid a KINGS Ransom for him.

i bet. im so sick of looking at them every night, i want their asses ship out of town ! again - fletcher has sat on his ass and done nothing.

That's why I think ghost would be a steal, if the team was scoring more he would have a higher assist total.

if that is the case VV, im fine with that. he can still sell off some pieces, get some good players back and still tank to the #1 spot.

The Florida Panthers and Pittsburgh Penguins made a significant trade on Friday.

    Pittsburgh confirmed these terms:

Penguins receive: Nick Bjugstad and Jared McCann.

Panthers receive: Derick Brassard, Riley Sheahan, one second-round pick in 2019, and two fourth-round picks (one from the Penguins, one from the Wild via the Jamie Oleksiak trade) in 2019.

This is a fascinating decision for both sides.

    Penguins perspective

One thing that jumps out for Pittsburgh is that they’re taking on contracts that extend beyond next season, while giving up players who were on expiring deals.

Bjugstad, 26, carries a $4.1 million cap hit through 2020-21. He’s a big body (listed at 6-foot-6), and possesses a right-handed shot, two things the Penguins likely coveted.

Much like with Tanner Pearson, you could label Bjugstad as a “buy-low” candidate. After scoring 19 goals and 49 points last season, Bjugstad only has five goals and 12 points in 32 contests in 2018-19.

In line with Bjugstad, Jared McCann, 22, has a contract that extends beyond this season, as his $1.25M cap hit expires after 2019-20. After scoring nine goals and 28 points in 68 games in 2017-18, McCann has eight goals and 18 points in 46 games this season. (NBC's PHT)

I like this trade for the Pens. That's my quick reaction. They got younger and cheaper. They also now have a better roster, IMO, based on their system. The draft picks could prove to be valuable for Florida as bargaining chips in future trades, but they really translate to very low odds of ever contributing at the NHL level.
