Yup, awful play and decision. He also didn't even account for a bad throw. Heck he even admitted he got beat and tried to save the TD(let him score lol).

Probably, just like when the lights went out in the Super Bowl when the 49ers were about to be completely blown out Anyway, there have been a TON of controversial games over the years in the NFL, and I hate it for the Saints fans out there tonight, who by all rights, should have been celebrating a Super Bowl return instead of complete dejection.

 

A bit of NFC South irony: a blown pass interference call in the fourth quarter kept the Falcons from playing in the Super Bowl in New Orleans. Now a blown pass interference call in the fourth quarter has cost the Saints the chance to play in the Super Bowl in Atlanta.

 

Well no more Buck and Aikman this season.

I’ll drink to that.

Mahomes not looking so good

 

The OL for the Chiefs has been atrocious so far, Bill Belichick has brought out his A-game this post-season with perhaps his crappiest team in a long time. Credit to him so far.

 

Why should he be fired? His answers were correct.

 

The head official in a conference championship game didn’t see the most critical and controversial play of the game that will be talked about for a days and weeks...

I take issue with that.

 

If he's in position and doing his own job, his view of the downfield part of the play would likely have been obstructed. It's the side judge and back judge that blew it, not the referee.

 

He’s the crew chief...the head official. If his side judge or back judge make a mistake he should at least look up at the Jumbotron and take a look at the play....I’m fairly certain they replayed it at least a few times for everyone to see.

For him to walk out of the game and then tell reporters he didn’t see the play is criminal in my book.

The worst part about the bad officiating in the NFL is that those responsible and in charge of it are doing nothing to correct it.

 

If a head coach is responsible for all the bad things his assistant coaches do....how is a head official not responsible for the mistakes of those in his crew?

Saying I didn’t see the play is not an acceptable answer. Not in a game with that much on the line.

 

And boom the Chiefs are right back in it, TD strike to Kelce 14-7

 

If the NFL wants to save face with this PR disaster, they have to reprimand that entire Ref crew and not allow them to referee a Playoff game for at least a couple of seasons.

 

They need to do something.

Officiating has impacted too many games this season.

 

They certainly deserve horrible grading from the league, bad enough to prevent them from being a part of next year's postseason.


Just throwing something else out there for thought... with 6:49 left in regulation, the Rams had 2nd and goal at the 5. Goff scrambles for 3 yards. The officials missed a face mask call when Goff was tackled. Half the distance from the end of the run and an automatic first down would have given Los Angeles a first and goal at the 1 yard line.

With a touchdown instead of a field goal, New Orleans would have needed a touchdown themselves to answer. The remainder of the game would have been very different.
