Wings in a rebuilding phase, the coach is of little importance right now. They should trade howard and go for hughes or kaapo. As a fan it sucks to go through these years. The wings held on to the past a bit too long with datsyuk and zetterberg. They ended up getting no return for them and just lost them to old age, much like the leafs with sundin.
The kings are doing the same thing to, not making forward moves in the roster by keeping brown and carter.
It's either you make the necessary changes at the right time or you bring it to crisis mode and go full rebuild. The wings can get away with this being an original six and an ownership with deep pockets.

 

I agree with the things you said, just think the product on the ice could play better with the youth they have, but the coach isn't the best teacher or motivator. He was a winner in the AHL, but im afraid he's not NHL caliber. I just don't like the designs of the powerplay or the defensive scheme and the lack of offense by a team with decent speed.

Ive seen what they can do at times against grade A competition, but they just lack consistency and maybe even leadership on and off the ice. Im bummed and frustrated that they (Holland & company) didn't see this mess earlier or handle it differently... kinda shocked to say the least.

 

They could've done much better than blashill, that's true. They had some pretty good stretches early on where they looked good. I think they might be in for some major moves in the off-season with the coach and gm. Accompanied with a first or second overall, it could be just the thing this club needs.
